"Lovely room...once we actually got to it!"
When we checked in we were provided with our keys and went up to our assigned room. When I opened the door the room was tiny with a bunk bed in the corner. I had booked a room with two Double Beds so I knew we had been given the wrong room. I went back down to the front desk and dealt with a different front desk staff person and I explained the whole […] issue to them and was told by another staff person who had been listening in to my conversation that they were fully booked and had to rearrange some guests rooms. I found it interesting that nothing was mentioned to me during the check in process and I said that this was not acceptable as I had booked months ago and wanted my double room. The staff person just kept saying that there was nothing she could do and apologized for the inconvenience. I did not accept this response and stated that something would need to be done as I was not sleeping in bunk beds when I booked two double beds. The staff person then said she would look into what she could do and asked me to wait in the lobby. About 5 mins. later she returned and said she was able to "accommodate me" and moved me to a room with two double beds. We went up to our new assigned room and the keys did not work. I returned to the front desk and the keys then had to be reprogrammed. The staff person then accompanied us to our room to ensure the keys worked. Once in the room that we actually booked and paid for we were happy with our surroundings. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Reasonably priced and close to great restaurants"
This hotel is about 3 blocks from the North Station subway stop, which is on the Green and Orange lines, so it is easy to get around town. The hotel is clean and modern. The rooms are not large, and there is no closet, but there is a rack with plenty of hangars, and the usual amenities (refrigerator, snacks, TV, toiletries) are good. The restaurant […] is minimal, but the breakfast is good. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect for a long weekend!"
We were visiting for a Friday night Celtics game - couldn't be a better location for the TD Garden. It is right around the corner and about a 2 minute walk. As for other areas of Boston, it is a little out of the way, but easy access to the Freedom Trail, the North End and Beacon Hill if you don't might a few blocks of walking. Unfortunately, our reservation […] for the first night got overbooked so the hotel staff reimbursed us for that night and sent us around the block to a neighboring hotel. It was a disappointment and a huge inconvenience to walk our luggage across multiple busy streets. The staff took care of it but the customer service could have been better. Once we were finally in our room, we couldn't have been happier. Beautiful views (9th floor) and comfortable bed and great amenities. Very small, but you can't expect much in a historic building in Boston. We had trouble ordering room service as well but again, the staff took care of it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice to stay but avoid the restaurant"
We had a nice three night stay here. The location is very convenient to transportation, and you can easily walk downtown, too. The room was nice and comfortable (especially the comforter). We tried getting breakfast one morning and ended up leaving after only receiving a cup of coffee and some water with no updates on when our food would be ready. Several […] other people walked out at the same time. The waitstaff was very uninformed. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Close to sights and the TD Garden. Rooms are a little small, but cozy. The staff were wonderful and friendly. No Complaints! Will be using this hotel for all my future Boston visits.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel, but completely irresponsible"
While the Boxer is comfortable and clean, my experience was dominated by the fact that the housekeeping staff threw out an important notebook of mine, with 3 months of research notes, while cleaning. They were sorry -- but there was nothing that they could do. I don't trust ANY hotel that throws out guest possessions that aren't in the trash.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Spartan Race Vacation"
We choose Boxer because it was in the right location and the price was right. It was close to the T and the North End. We had friends and family meet us there and there was a parking lot one block down from hotel and then took the T down to Fenway for the race.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Updates and convenience"
The Boxer is a historic hotel, with updates that remove the "old" feeling. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The location is convenient to the North T Station, and to the North end restaurants and activities.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to Boston Beer Works brewpub"
I really liked this hotel. Although the rooms were a bit small, they were done up well and very comfortable. Management was quite helpful and pleasant. The Finch (Bar/Restaurant) is a delight.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
we were in boston for 1 night to see a concert at the TD gardens. Location was excellent. the staff were helpful and informative. The room was expensive and the design of the room was poor. The bed sits on a platform that is wider than the bed. needless to say both my husband and myself kept hitting our shins on the corners. the open closet, while stylish […] was not very practicle with the coffee maker next to it our clothes smelled of coffee. no kettle was available so we had to ask for hot water to be sent to the room for tea. the bedside lights had a bulb that was too dimm and it stuck out of the fixture so the glare hurt your eyes. couldn't read. there was an overhead light but that was disturbing too. the bathroom shower leaked outside. the sink was too small and too tall. they kept the towels below the sink and next to the toilet (too close to the toilet). For 1 night it was okay but i culdn't stay for much longer. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect!! Awesome stay!! Helpful friendly staff!!"
Spent 6 nights at the Boxer. Great stay!!! Overall what you'd expect at a five star high end hotel, with a more intimate boutique feel. Our only complaint is there is very limited storage (1 drawer and 10" of hanging space) but this not be a problem if you were 1 person staying a couple of nights. Charming and stylish rooms and hotel, immaculately maintained. […] Great staff, especially Stephanie!!!!! It's about 10 minutes walk to Fanueil Hall and 5 minutes to the "T" their subway system. (It is very close to the TD Garden, but this can be a nuisance with scalpers hanging about the street corners and allies on their many game nights.) Their restaurant was hit or miss. Try the BLT, not the Caesar salad. The lobster mac n cheese portion is small. They are working on a new menu as we speak, to be fair, since taking over the hotel in May 2013. "A night in the city started off the wrong way"
Our stay overall wasn't that impressive. The location of the boxer is ideal. Wicked close to the north end and TD garden. We booked our room over a month in advance with no problems. When we arrived after driving all day, they proceed to tell my girlfriend that they overbooked and have to relocate us. NOT ACCEPTABLE. They wanted to put us up in Cambridge, […] which is unreasonable. They said that they would pay for the hotel and incidental charges and MAYBE get us a cab. I could care less about the hotel but Cambridge is a 20-30 min walk from where we had reservations and planned to spend our night out. After speaking with them for 15-20 minutes they said that they could "upgrade" us from a king bed room to a double room...REALLY!!????!!! How is that an upgrade? At this point I was just furious but instead of ruining our night (obviously this wasn't going to be resolved in a manner that would make us happy), I accepted the room. Needless to say, I won't ever stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to lots of sights"
Stayed here because all the hotels listed in the brochure for the conference I attended were sold out. I was a little hesitant to stay somewhere not recommended by the conference planners, but I'm so glad I took a leap of faith and stayed here. Staff is wonderful and accommodating! Hotel is cozy and comfortable. I read reviews before staying, and would […] have to agree the rooms aren't big and the room I stayed in didn't have a closet. But the room was big enough and had enough space to hang clothes for my 5 night stay. Conveniently located near the Freedom Trail, which I walked without a problem. I even walked to Cheers! I definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for a nice place to lay your head down at night after taking in the sights of one of the greatest cities in the country! "Quaint, cozy, delightful!"
This was a delightful surprise. The room was updated, cozy and quiet. Large double size shower, mini fridge, bathrobes, coffee maker all included. The restaurant had excellent sandwiches and breakfast had homemade home fries , breads and a pot of coffee. Walking distance to Quincy market and around the corner to TD garden.Genuine Expedia guest review
Location (near North Station trains & TD Garden concert) determined choice. Room was small but very clean and efficiently arranged. Bar and café are small, but good staff and reasonable offerings for the limited size.Genuine Expedia guest review

The experience at the Boxer was excellent. Staff were friendly and flexible. The room was small but comfortable. We enjoyed it very much. It was clean and the facilities provided were excellent. "Comfy beds- despite bunks"
Went to visit Boston for Parents at kids college -same weekend during the Head of the Charles...no hotels to be found under $600/night. "Great Personnel, but rooms are small"
We enjoyed our stay; personnel are friendly and helpful, but rooms are very small and hotel has few amenities. It was nice to be within walking distance of Quincy Market, one of our destinations on this trip. The bar/restaurant serves sandwiches until 10 p.m. Coffee maker in our room did not work and the restaurant coffee is not particularly good. (There's […] a Duncan Donuts around the corner). "Great location & historic bldg.-design needs work"
This hotel was revamped with an innovative eye, but it is a little less than practical. The lighting is energy efficient, but it is not sufficient for those over 40. The location is wonderful and it is a fairly quiet street. The staff seems attentive, but they did not follow through with our request to get our refrigerator working or to fix the toilet […] (which ran constantly if you did not manually adjust the lever). "Never Been There Before, Loved It"
Hotels in Boston, for business travelers, are problematic. They are expensive and sometimes hard to find, especially if the trip is scheduled at the last minute. I needed a room in Boston on short notice, and this one popped up on Expedia. It turned out to be a pleasure. It was three blocks from the T, in a busy and seemingly safe neighborhood. The […] hotel restaurant, for my limited purposes (lunch one day, breakfast one day), was quite good. The room was small, and the bed took up literally 60% of the floor space, but it was a very nice room. The internet was free and efficient, the bathroom clean and functional, the coffee maker just right. The staff was excellent, the real heart of the hotel: friendly and attentive without being intrusive, capable in running the hotel, things like giving directions, getting the food order right, having the bill ready and correct, etc.: things business travelers take for granted until there is a problem. Since I had never stayed there, the hotel was a surprise--and a very pleasant one! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Smallest room ever"
I thought I was staying in a room with two double beds, they put me in the "boxer bunk" room , (bunk beds) with my 6'2" son. The room was tiny, the bathroom had a moldy, unclean smell to it. Nothing good to say about the room. Stay somewhere else!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Location by TD Garden, "T" Stop!"
This hotel was chosen because of it close proximity to a MBTA "T" stop and Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market. We were able to walk to the hall/market from the hotel. We took the T to and from the Sam Adams brewery and to Fenway Park. If you are a Celtics or Bruins fan this hotel is a short 5 minute walk to the TD garden. Since this was our first time to Boston […] we paid for the Old Town Trolley Tour which conveniently had a stop at the TD garden and took us to 15 other stops in Boston. While this hotel was built in the 1900's the hotel itself is clean and has modern rooms thanks to a recent update. The rooms and hotel lobby had a beautiful industrial design look. Attached to the lobby was the Finch, a bar and bistro. Great drinks within a short ride down the elevator. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great option in Boston North End"
Hotel went through renovation and it is looking great. The size of the room is a little bit small especially if you are staying with someone. "Well Located Boutique Hotel"
We were greeted by the friendliest staff ... very helpful! The rooms were comfortable and artistically well appointed in a minimalistic style. The small space was utilized beautifully. We had breakfast at the hotel. The food was timely and served in a delightful setting. We really enjoyed our stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
I booked this hotel for the location and the price. Boston is very pricey. This was a nice hotel in a good area and the price was right (at least by Boston standards). The hotel was recently modernized. The rooms are quite small. Having two women with a lot of clothes was a bit of a problem, but we did OK. Bathroom was roomy and had sufficient space […] to store necessities. Good TV. We enjoyed having a fridge. Beds were very comfortable. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great boutique hotel!"
I loved my stay at this hotel. The Boxer has a great look and feel to it, staff are very friendly and helpful, and the location is perfect - Quincy Market, Little Italy - North Boston, the greenway, TD Gardens and Beacon Hill - Charles Street are all less than 15 minutes walking distance (this may be inaccurate but, honestly, everything felt so close). […] My only complaints would be that the two double bed room was a little cramped for three people - but based on previous reviews I knew this when I booked - and the $44/day valet parking fee - I don't usually travel with a car so I don't really have any frame of comparison but it seemed a tad pricy to me. Overall, this hotel is a great value for what you get (which really helped make up for the parking fee). I would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Hip room. Toilet clogged easily. Cool wooden frame of the mirror. Bed on weird blocks. Neat furniture. Good Bar. Expensive late check out. Close to lots of great stuff. "3 nights in Boston"
Hotel location is fine. For with a very small hotel rooms, they made a big mistake with the ID design... in painting the walls 'dark grey'. What were the ID designer thinking? The dark color made the room even smaller. Plus the furnishings were not appropriate for small tight space with all the tower metral frames taking alot of the elbow room space […] that one can hardly move without hitting the metal frame posts. The overall ID design is totally out of place. Best is for the hotel to replace all the furnishings with bright colors and paint the walls 'light color....as in 'white'. Replace the ID consultant. "Great location; nice stay"
The Boxer is the old Bullfinch. It is in a great location, only a few blocks from Quincy Market. The service was terrific. We had one of their three rooms with 'bunk beds', for my daughter and myself. It was great to have two beds but the room was very small. There also was no reading light on the bottom bed, which made it difficult for reading. However, […] we were offered a king room, were given a key to see it, and, decided to stay put. The front desk service could not have been more helpful. It has been redone, nice bath and very clean. The only real downside is the size of the rooms, which can be true in any city hotel. "The Boxer Hotel - Family of Four"
We picked this hotel because it was recommended on Expedia. We were happy that it was centrally located downtown and close to a "trolley stop" for sightseeing. It was quite stylish and very clean.
