Suprised to find out that I did not have a bathroom and shower in my room. Had to walk down the hall and share it with the other guests. Thin walls with loud obnoxious guests in the next room up and loud until 2:30 AM both nights that I stayed. Spatter of something on several walls and celing. Who knows what it could have been? I had a wonderful stay at the College Inn. The building and accommodations are rustic but comforting! The cafe and pub attached to the building are nice to hang out in and the neighborhood is great. This is by far the cheapest hotel in the area, and you get what you pay for; which isn't a bad thing here. The location close to the college with lots of easy street parking nearby was great. Also the room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was decent (they made sure nothing ever ran out and there was clean dishes). I stayed here due to lack of accommodations downtown. It is about a 40 minute bus ride to get to Pike Place market. Bus stop is 2 blocks away and there are many buses that take you downtown (bus 71-74). It has a shared bathroom per floor (2 showers, 1 stall and a urinal in mens room). Each room has its own sink. When I checking in to the College Inn, the guy behind the desk said, "You know this is a hostel, right?" I think this is the crucial piece of information that people should know about this place: it really is a nice hostel in which you get your own room. Mine had a nice amount of space and was perfectly clean. Yes, the bathrooms are shared, but seriously. […] No big deal. Not many amenities, but what would you expect for the price? It's also quite conveniently located right next to the UW campus and within walking distance to the shops and restaurants of the U District, plus being very close to bus stops to get around town. We ended up canceling our reservation when we arrived. There is ONLY 2 hour street parking or short term lots within 5 blocks of the place. The staff was unsympathetic and told us we'd have to get up to move our car every so often or park really far away. Do not bother with this place if you plan to rent a car while visiting Seattle!

The shared bathrooms were small and not very clean. The showers had little to no privacy (one of the showers doors was broken and did not close). The bed was smaller than we were told it would be and it was broken. I would not stay here again.

You will either love or hate this place depending on what you want in a hotel. That's why there are lots of 1 star reviews and lots of 5 star. 1). Community restroom- one men's one women's. The men's has one stall and one urinal. If the stall happens to be occupied you can probably try the one on another floor. Not a lot of useage since I think there […] are probably only 6 or 7 rooms on each floor. 2). No TV. You of course should be aware of that when you check in. The plus side is you don't need to worry about someone in the room next door having the TV on when you're trying to sleep. 3). Check in hours can be a bit tricky. Others have pointed out they have a dead zone in the middle of the day. Also I didn't see it shown on any of the info on the web that the receptionist is only there till 11 on weekdays. You will notice that on the front door. May bey different hours on Fridays or weekends. I was lucky I got in at 10pm so no problem. 4). Bare bones service. You walk up to the 4th floor and the guy hands you your key. 5). Linen was clean. The one review I saw about bugs was either someone in a very bad mood venting or someone who had really bad luck with their room. 6). Proximity to campus is a big plus. I would be unlikely to stay there again because not having a private bathroom is a big minus for me. But the place is cheap and if it meets your needs go for it. Read more

The rooms were pleasantly spare, making them feel much larger than they actually are. There is an internet terminal current newspapers and magazines and nice hardwood tables for doing work on the attic/lobby on the fourth floor. The building is pretty and in a great location for visiting UW. There is an iron in every room, and a sink. Breakfast is terrible, […] and not worth the price (free). The muffins and granola will make you slightly sick for a few hours. The coffee, courtesy of folgers, is likewise terrible. The communal bathrooms remind me of college dorms, but are not unpleasant. The showers get good and hot. Overall the place is cheap, has good character and in a great location, but you go without classic hotel comforts like soaking in a tub.
