Hotel is in an older building which gives it a wonderful character. I was there in the winter so I can't speak to the A/C, or lack of it, but it was comfortable. Staff was friendly and quick to help with anything. The hotel is walking distance to Tivoli and the attractions of downtown Copenhagen.

We had 4 of us staying and the bed/ sleeper sofa was large enough to sleep my 6' 3" boys but it was tight when you pulled out the sleeper sofa. Stayed in the family room in the Avenue Hotel. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The children slept on the sofa bed (queen size) and they also said it was very comfortable. It is a nice hotel. The best thing is that the drinks in the refrigerator is free. A 500ml water bottle like Ozaka costs about 25cents in the States. Here it is $1.78. We stayed at the Avenue Hotel twice, before and after a 10 day cruise. The pluses: Good location, a few blocks from the Forum Metro and directly on intersecting bus lines. We could take a bus from the door to central Copenhagen or to our cruise ship. A traditional European-style hotel. Breakfast was great, and when we had to leave before breakfast […] hours, the night staff made coffee for us specially at no charge. The room was clean and very modern. The hotel fronts a major street, the Aboulevard., so there is a lot of traffic noise on the front side. There is no AC, so in warm weather be sure to request a room facing the back side, which is very quiet. The staff gladly stowed our baggage until check-in time and our room was available on-time. They also loaned us a US voltage adapter and a corkscrew. The free Wi-Fi was easily connected and speedy. The Aboulevard has some empty store fronts and a great deal of graffiti (like all of Copenhagen), but the other streets seemed OK, with many active small businesses. The Hotel has no restaurant. Good restaurants are at least two to three blocks away, towards the Forum. Overall, I recommend the Avenue Hotel as a Good to Better class hotel. Read more

The hotel doesn't have meals in the evening, but snacks. however, there are lots of tasty and affordable places to eat: one block away there is a chinese buffet at a reasonable price, and also a suchi place, a greek place, an italian restorant. Having free wireless internet connaction in the room was also very comfortable. there are many different little broshures downstares with even some discuntes for the tickets. I arrived to the hotel expecting that the hotel would be a 3 star hotel. First impression, you enter the hotel, there is a very bad smell. I thought that the smell was going to be for few hours but it seems that it is the smell of the hotel. Second, we arrived in the evening to the room, the room was quite dirty, the carpet was dirty, one of the towels has some funny things on it and the pillow was dirty. i dont think this is a standard of even a 3 star hotel.
