Stayed here for one night on 31/05 as we were attending a wedding At a nearby venue. Hotel was immaculate, staff were brilliant-very helpful. Had a meal at merchants bar which was really nice. We will be returning again as surroundings lovely.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely hotel if they can sort the drains"
This is a lovely hotel with great restaurant and very friendly, helpful staff.Rooms are well equipped. Main concern was that the shower flooded and based on the way the sink emptied, I suspect there is a problem with the dainsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice and clean hotel .Only bad points- no wifi in rooms, food in hotel very small portions .Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Lovely hotel, great room, all modern and very clean and fantastic staff. Breakfast was really nice. Would have loved to have stayed longer but unfortunately the location was not close enough to where I needed to be. I would definitely use this hotel again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very good service"
The hotel was very pleasant, it was very quiet at night with a lovely room and very friendly staffGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Lowest score possible because of housekeeping, which is unacceptable. Also reception could not find my booking from hotels.com for a club room until the other lady (I think Rachel) fixed the problem. The other lady had I cant be wrong attitude until she realised that she was wrong. For such a nice hotel with lovely food this is poor show. Come on customer […] relations. No complaints at all, very helpful staff - also allowed me an early check in. Very nice room, and very clean bathroom.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very nice hotel. Pleasant staff, clean and tidy, very good food. Some issues regarding housekeeping need addressing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautifully restored hotel"
I remember it from years ago, room seam large this is because the large tv is wall mounted. The bathrooms have had the bath removed and walk in shower installed, this was great and amazed by the heated mirror which never steamed up.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"very helpful staff"
staff very helpful, especially for local knowledge. Room was nice, food was good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice, modern business hotel. Only mark against it was the lack of wifi in the room. Clean, friendly staff, very near the M6.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
all round fantastic hotel with excellent service and facilities. I stayed here for business and was very impressed. I would highly recommend this hotel for business or pleasure.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean and good value"
Stayed just one night while visiting my daughter in Preston. Good price, although a bit "out of town". Very nicely renovated with high quality materials. However, the shower room floor was not flat, and the shower panel leaked water, meaning that it pooled under the toilet .... didn't detract from our stay, but needs fixing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A* Hotel Break"
My son and myself stayed for 3 nights at the Samlesbury Hotel, whilst he was taking part in a cycle race. The location was great. The staff could not have been more helpful. Bedrooms were really clean and fresh. Beds very comfortable. As we had early starts each morning, we did not get a chance to experience the breakfasts so unfortunately, I cannot comment […] on food/restaurant. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Stayed here for a one night stopover and the hotel ticked all the boxes. Friendly and efficient staff, good ambience in the bar, comfortable bed, great shower - would definitely recommend!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Good all round standard that you'd expect from a new hotel. Rooms are a little small and cold on my visit with no independent means of heat. Decent breakfast for £10.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A stylish hotel."
A stylish hotel that is comfortable and clean. I've stayed twice now, and dinner in the restaurant on both occasions has been excellent. Rooms are clean, modern, and the walk in shower so spacious. I would really recommend staying here.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent customer service"
Highly recommend Samlesbury hotel, the staff on our arrival were really helpful. Impressed with our room, especially with the price we paid. The room was lovely and well kept, only negatives being could of done with more towels and the television was caked in dust. But all in all it was a wonderful night, the evening meal we had in the restaurant was […] lovely, verging on fine dining and breakfast was equally as nice. We will almost certainly return. Really good clean and comfortable hotel with excellent helpful staff and good food. Only downside was the wired Internet which had a habit of timing out. Good location with easy access to Preston. Would defiantly stay again.Genuine Expedia guest review
Certainly a few bob spent on this place since I last stayed. If your looking for somewhere to be based out of for a few days this is most definately the place to stay. Friendly staff, and the guys on reception are first class. Nice to see a business using young people from the locality and they are being trainned very well indeed, with exceptional good […] manners and customer service skills. The rooms are top quality and well presented. Definately a 4 star at a 3 star price. Food is also first class. Well done to thier staff they make this place what it is. Well recommended. This hotel has been recently renovated to a high standard and has everything you need for an overnight business trip. Very clean and comfortableGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel itself is sleek, modern and stylish. No qualms there. I had lunch in the restaurant and the quality of the meal left a smile on my face. As the night drew in and the sun faded away my room grew cold. The radiator was unable to provide adequate heat and I was left to sleep with more layers on that I normally would. I woke up the next morning […] looking forward to a hot shower after the cold night. I was bitterly disappointed that at 7am the water could only manage a barely tepid lukewarm temperature. Upon check out the lady on reception did not appear at all interested nor did she ask me how my stay was or any other typical polite questions I would expect from hotel staff. This was a poor experience for me and I will not be returning. Had I stayed in the summer when heating was not required I guess this review would have read completely different. "Excellent hotel - First Class Service"

We booked this as a deal on Travelzoo. Fantastic value - accommodation in a club room was excellent, the food was very good. The 3 course dinner and breakfast was faultless - friendly staff who couldn't have done more. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel which has been tastefully refurbished.
"Good but was better"

The hotel was opened around December 2013 following a complete refurbishment of the interior which is a great improvement, although the dimensions of the bedrooms are unaltered. Everything is clean and all the staff are very pleasant and helpful. The beds are very comfortable and if you can stay awake there is a large wall mounted tv to watch. Having stayed in several rooms during 2014 I have not been disturbed by the nearby main road and most of the rooms are well set back from the road. There have been problems with the wifi in rooms which have Ethernet cables which will suit PCs but not ipads etc. If you want to work in your room over the internet then best to check with the hotel on the current situation. When I first stayed earlier in the year I was very impressed, especially by breakfast at which there were newspapers; a choice of a full or continental breakfast was offered. Newspapers and the choice soon went but the main breakfast offered excellent freshly cooked items such as a Merchants omelette which was truly delicious (smoked haddock inside). However, on my most recent visit the cooked to order hot breakfast had gone and been replaced by a standard buffet offering of sausages, bacon, beans etc. Still better than many, there was good bead and fruit salad, plus pastries as well, but a disappointment. So would stay again if the price is right (it varies from date to date on the hotel's own online booking system) but breakfast would no longer be a clincher. Strangely, the online booking site only allows booking of double rooms; for a twin room you have to phone.
"I liked it"

All the staff were friendly, all said hello which is a nice touch and they all seemed very happy. Reception were brilliant. When one of our colleagues was forgotten on the booking, the receptionist went out if her way to find a local hotel who could take the booking. Then they booked a taxi there and back. Awesome customer service. My room was clean and tidy with everything you need. Dinner was lovely, they clearly have a team that cares, they were more than happy to pander to my gluten intolerant ways and change the way they cooked my meal. Breakfast was nice but don't complain about how weak the coffee is because if you do, the nice Polish lady comes back with coffee like syrup. Conference and banqueting staff were great apart from the slightly grumpy table guy. The conference room comes equipped with a big screen and stage and was a reasonable size. We got 160 people in theatre style. Overall, a very pleasant stay in a very nicely decorated hotel
"One night at Samlesbury Hotel"
09/10/14 Roderic W Preston
We stayed 1 night at this hotel, on a trip to Lancashire to see family. The room was small but adequate, however the corridor leading to our bedroom (at the back of the hotel) and the bedroom were permeated by a very unpleasant smell. We later learned that this ghastly smell comes from a sewage works situated close by the hotel. Even the carpark outside smelt. I am afraid that this spoiled our stay, and made us determined never to stay there again.
"Lacking in room service"
09/10/14 Tom G Edinburgh, United Kingdom
Excellent breakfast, toilet in unsuit dripped all night. Sharing room no second towel, tried phoning reception no answer, tried phoning room service no answer. Let down a excellent venue. Evening meal was good, service a bit lacking. Bar nicely laid out.

I have stayed here a few times since it re-opened. The rooms are comfortable and there are frequently discounted prices at the weekend making it good value. In particular the breakfasts have been very good so I was extremely disappointed when I visited last weekend to find how much the breakfasts have deteriorated. Everything is now left out congealing in heated plates. This meant that the fried eggs were hard and the scrambled eggs seemed to be swimming in water. Disgusting!
"Gorgeous afternoon tea in lovely hotel!"
Bought a deal for afternoon tea for two was first visit to the hotel. Very impressed with the hotel very clean and modern! Staff very friendly and helpful. Afternoon tea was good value and beautifully presented. The selection on the afternoon tea was best I have had with a choice of cakes and tasty fresh sandwiches. Had a look at the food menu and looked lovely and good price. This will not be my last visit and would Highly recommend.
My wife and I stayed here for one night including evening meal. The whole hotel has been refurbished to a high standard our room was immaculate with Randall shower, big comfy bed, flat screen TV and the bonus of a Nescafé pod coffee machine. We received a very friendly welcome at reception, she even booked our table for our evening meal. The only let down was the bar, the cocktail was excellent, wine tasty and general decor very nice. The poor barmaid however was on her own which meant it took an age to get served. Help her out with more staff and it would make a huge difference. We had a three course evening meal which was excellent, my wife and I tried something different each for all three courses and liked everything. Unfortunately my wife misread the times wrong for breakfast and we missed it so I can't comment on quality. We intend to return and use the hotel as a base for the Blackpool illuminations with our 7month old daughter so we will comment again when we have had breakfast. Definitely stay here you won't regret it.
"Excellent afternoon tea deal"
09/05/14 John-ChrisMc Manchester, UK
We visited this hotel for the first time, for afternoon tea, as purchased via a KG voucher. Immediate impression was very positive, newly refurbished hotel, pleasant reception staff, good service in restaurant. The afternoon tea itself, commenced with a glass of champagne, which was very nice and welcome. The tea itself was very well presented, on a nice stand, included various finger sandwiches, a warm tart, scones and cream/jam, selection of cake slices. The pot of tea was a good size for two. Overall a very pleasant experience, in comfortable surroundings, the food quality was good and we can only recommend. Am surprised at some of the other reviews here, can only state that there expectations must be very high, what would you expect for £15 for two? We would certainly return, as we both enjoyed the overall experience.

This hotel was autoselected by my Company's system. It is clean, well furnished if a bit on the quirky modern style. Check-in was poor but that was due to confusion and lack of knowledge of the corporate account arrangements so is probably not indicative of a normal process. Don't know if WiFi is free as free access is part of the "package" however unless I was in the corridor outside my room I couldn'g get it and it was not available in the lobby area. Did not have dinner but breakfast was disgusting. I was on a very tight timeline for a train so was second in. The omelette was undercooked and inedible. Did not have time to call for a replacement but to be honest probably wouldn't have wanted one. If you can't cook eggs ...... Travel to and from Preston is a nightmare on a very busy and congested road but proper planning will allow for that - hence early start.
