"Good location, neighbor quiet"

"Convenient to metro, but very small"
The hotel was clean and the bed was comfortable, but our room and bathroom were almost hilariously small. If all you're doing is sleeping there between outings, the hotel is a good deal and is only a couple minutes' walk from the Sherborne-Bloor metro stop.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
If you want a clean place to sleep, this was great. It has a sports bar downstairs with very good service. Fantastic location n safe, also across the street a 24 hour mini mart. The girls in the lobby are so helpful n nice. Would stay again for sure.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Unique but comfy hotel"
If you choose this hotel, be sure to book your parking space before you get there. Otherwise, you will walk two blocks to the nearest parking garage and pay $21 for one night. There is no place to pull-up and unload except for the side street where traffic is busy. Other than the parking, everything about this hotel is pleasing. The room itself is […] tiny, but the AC works great (probably because of the size of the room) and the bed is comfy enough. Also, our room was incredibly silent despite being in the middle of Toronto. After several nights in noisy motels, my husband and I appreciated a night of restful sleep. The breakfast consists of cereal and muffins, so no hot breakfast here, although there is a restaurant on the bottom floor. Also, no microwave or fridge in our room. Stayed here for a few days on vacation. Very nice hotel that's only a couple blocks away from the subway in a nice area. There is a continental breakfast that doesn't offer the widest selection, but it's enough to fill you up for a couple of hours. Overall a good stay!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Extremely bad hotel"
Hotel rooms are very small. We weren't told bathroom was not working and when we used it, water overflowed. when we told at reception, they told us to clean our self, light in the room was not working as well. Avoid at all cost.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Had to switch rooms"
The first room we were given was tiny and awkward. There was only room to get out of the bed on one side (the other was against a wall), there was one tiny window, no dresser. The TV was placed very low on the wall, and there was a standing fan in front of it, blocking the TV partially. (We didn't watch any TV, but this was still quite odd.) The bedside […] table was more like an end table--it had no base or drawer, just a small table with four legs. But the thing that made us switch rooms was the bathroom door. The room was so small that the hotel had removed the normal bathroom door and replaced it with a sliding, closet-style door. The door was hung wrong and couldn't be pulled over far enough to actually close. It appeared that even if the door could have been pulled over, there still would've been a gap between the outside wall and the inside of the door. The staff was very accommodating switching our room. Unfortunately, we were given the same corner room, but on a different floor. Due to some fluke, this new room at least had enough space to allow for a real bedside table and space on both sides of the bed. The bathroom door worked, in the sense that it pulled over far enough. But to really close (and lock) it, we had to first slide the bolt out, then shimmy the door around for the bolt to slide in. (If there'd simply been a handle on the interior of the door, that would solve the problem!) Location OK, continental breakfast OK, staff nice, but bad design. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Smoke in room, got payment credited"
Woke up at night; smelled smoke (from cigarettes), hard to fall back asleep, opened windows etc. In the morning they took it very seriously, credited the payment for the hotel. Bad night of sleep, good service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to subway"
The hotel is close th subway and must-see sights. It is 15 minutes walk to main street and 5 minutes walk to subway. House keeper was very lazy and my room didn't clean daily. I had report to front desk every time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Staff rude and inadequate"
Staff gave us two occupied rooms before giving us a room with water marks on the ceiling.....we almost walked in on a man taking a shower.....we requested a late checkout...the staff started calling us telling us we had to leave because they had no notes regarding a late checkout....they must have called us 20 times in 40 min ......Genuine Expedia guest review

"Hit the danforth"
My girlfriend and I stayed here for one night. We were only in town to see a concert at the Danforth Music Hall, and didn't expect or need much for accommodations. The Isabella was the cheapest around, but the pictures and reviews seemed to tell the story why. However, when we arrived, we were greeted by an incredibly friendly young lady who helped […] us park our car and gave us directions to the Danforth Center. The loby was whites and silver, and beautifully lit and decorated. The room was the same; it had obviously been renovated recently, with white walls and bedspread, a huge rose mural on the wall, a glass and stone shower, float screen tv, and coffee maker with coffee. This hotel surpassed our American expectations and proved to be a gem and very close to e Danforth Center. We highly recommend it for anyone traveling to go to concerts at the Danforth music Hall. "Nice cozy hotel in Rosedale"
Hotel was very clean and modern amenities in an old building. It reminded me of nicer European hotels I’ve stayed in. The neighborhood is a mix of old and modern, and quite safe and clean. It also has a 24 hour desk which is nice when getting in late. My trip to the area was to go to a beer fest in Don Valley. I’ve stayed at other hotels in the area, […] but I think I will stick to this one in the future. It’s quite nice. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Happy with everything. The hotel is, however, a good walk from must-see sights.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"1 minute's walk from subway station"
Good mattress. Generally no service other than the change of towels upon request.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel has no parking. Rooms are small. Hotel requires 100$ deposit in case of damage to room ! Attendant unable to make card machine work. Result = deposit taken out 4 times of my account. Would not listen until asked him to call his boss...turned out he typed uncorrectly. Unbelievable !Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cheap but OK."
Very cheap for Toronto and just a 5 minute walk to the subway. So-so neighborhood.Genuine Expedia guest review
"It was fine."
It was fine. It would of been great if the breakfast food was a bit better.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice, cheap, convenient."
This is a nice place. The rooms are small, which doesn't matter if you're going out into the city. The neighborhood is decent, and is a short walk to the subway. My only complaint is that the $15 parking they offer is conditional. The night I checked in, they were full and said to ask again the next day. I opted to pay for a nearby lot instead.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Isabella is a quaint and comfortable place to stay. It was really clean and the beds were so comfortable. I would definitely return.Genuine Expedia guest review
"European style hotel in Toronto"
Not a fancy European hotel, the sort of neighborhood hotel made from an old building using the elements that are present. Clean, neat, variety of other travelers. Nic e staff. My room was a "suite" but had less square meters than a single room. Bathroom very clean and modern. The hotel was fine for me.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good staff and location."
Good hotel to stay is a small hotel good located, metro station near by, the staff was very heapful . The bearkfast is basic but good. The rooms are really small but they have everything you need.Genuine Expedia guest review
"not the best, not the worst"
I was visiting Toronto with a friend, called ahead and requested two beds, but when we made it up to the room, there was only one. were told that was only room available. 18 dollars a day to park in a nearby underground garage, which after a couple days in Toronto, is fair. they didn't have ice. I was told that they only have ice when the restaurant […] is open. terrible breakfast in the morning. good location, it was close to where we needed to be. nice bathroom, very nice shower. room was extremely small, but adequate. nice little outdoor restaurant. overall, it wasn't too bad. the price was good. "Somewhat Budget Friendly, Decent Place"
The previous reviews were pretty accurate and indicative of what we experienced also. Surrounding neighborhood was pretty questionable but location was within walking distance of upscale shopping in Yorkville and lower scale shopping along Yonge St and going towards College St. We kept walking down Yonge and found Eaton Center shopping and Dundas Square […] with street performers all around...very nice! The hotel lobby was very nice, free breakfast was decent, but the parking was my problem. You have to have a $100 hold put on your charge card each time you use the parking "key". I've stayed in much nicer hotels and never paid for a key but i understand their dilemma with people losing them. Also, parking is $15/night. Get clean bed linens and change it yourself...ours had hair and crumbs in the bed when we got there, yuk! The room is tiny, but good enough to shower and sleep :-) staff was friendly and helpful too. "Eh...it is what it is."
I stayed for 4 days and was ok with it. If you're looking for modern (in regards to anything a typical hotel has now) then don't choose the Isabella. It's not falling apart, but it's not modern by any means. My room was comfortable. The hallways smelled of over cooked food constantly. The free breakfast they tout is cereal and odd, randomly chosen pieces […] of toasted bread. On the other hand, if you need to be downtown, on a budget then for the cost consider Isabella. But be ware, parking is off site and cost me $62 for the 4 nights (that's after me refusing to pay the parking attendant $100!). I was also charged $50 for wired Internet service within the room which I was unaware of until I got home and saw it was charged to my card. Wireless Internet is only available in the lobby.... Which isn't a place you really wanna hang out in... Just not 'cozy' It is what it is which is basically a place to sleep. Reminded me of a hostel except I had a private room and bathroom. "Exceeded minimalist expectations"
Exceeded my expectations. Happy to see a restaurant in the basement, staff very helpful. Only stayed one night. Room was small but perfectly adequate for our needs as I am not a demanding traveler. Location was very good and very acceptable. I'd stay again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Worst Hotel Experience Ever"
Horrific is the only word that comes to mind. I stay regularly at Red Rood and so I'm not a hotel snob. However, I appreciate a mattress that is under 25 years old, an elevator that is free of crud and trash, an entry that has some semblance of a luggage or wheelchair ramp, rather than 2 board loosely laid on the steps, some legal way to check in and […] have a car...I had to park in a no parking zone and was offered no idea, as if this had never come up before. It was a perfect ending, the last night, as I was attempting to log on the internet (never happened during the last 18 hours I was there), a very distinguished couple came down the elevator, clearly upset and got no understand as they tried to cancel their stay. Not sure what happened, but I sure understood why they were at their wits end. Do not stay here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very good value and convenient to subway"
The Isabella was very good for my 2 night need. As a single, the small size of the room was not a problem (though my last time there was with a second person and the room was somewhat cramped). BUT, with one of the lowest room rates in or near downtown, I would certainly return to the Isabella. A simple cereal breakfast was adequate for me and included […] in the room rate. For the price, the room was adequate, though the HVAC system didn't seem to work very well. Staff was friendly. Cleaning of the room was not terribly thorough. A good 20 minute walk to Yonge Street and the University, however.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Unclean rooms/sheets. You get what you pay for."
Sheets/pillow covers weren't cleaned or changed each night. Hotel is what you would expect for the price. If cleanliness and room size matter to you, look elsewhere.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice budget hotel close to downtown"
This hotel is in a great location and doesn't charge you a bomb for it. The subway station is two blocks away, which makes it very convenient to get to & from the airport and also visit other places in Toronto accessible by subway. This hotel is about a kilometer from Yonge st., which seems to be the heart of downtown Toronto. Plenty of places to eat […] and see once you hit Yonge. The room was clean, housekeeping was prompt and service courteous. However, starting from the elevator, everything is small. If you are generously built, you will have a hard time getting into the elevator, let alone use the bathroom. The place can be a tight fit. I was here on a business trip and wanted an affordable place close to downtown and this one fit my bill since I used it only to get some sleep & get a shower in the morning. If you can deal with a slightly cramped bathroom and are looking for a place to sleep and shower, this affordable place is a great deal. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just an average hotel"
A decent pick if ur looking for something cheap. No wifi in the rooms was a negative for me. The hotel bar and restaurant were pretty decent though. The best thing about this hotel is the location, just a few minutes to a wide selection of pubs and clubs.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very bad experience the room was never clean the air conditioning does not work, some of the ligthning eitherGenuine Expedia guest review
"Avoid no matter how cheap!!!"
The room was the size of a large walk in closet. The tiny mini fridge leaked and there was a giant water stain on the carpet. The hotel doesn't offer fitted sheets so you are sleeping directly on the 24 year old mattress that the springs are popping on by the middle of the night. The full bed itself was so short that anyone over 5'7 would have to sleep […] with their feet hanging over the bottom of the bed. The bathroom door doesn't open completely.... maybe 3/4ths as there is a permanent door stop in the middle of the floor. This is clearly a hazard when you are getting out of the tiny shower or sitting at the toilet. The elevator is hardly big enough to fit two people...getting your luggage up is a challenge. The tv in the room was very small and from the 90s. The picture was awful and the cable connect kept failing. The indoor hallways are not air conditioned so the long wait for the elevator is quite humid. The restaurant; Gabby's that is located below the hotel, has AWFUL service and terrible food. I needed a place to lay my head and rest. I wasn't in the room very long, it served its purpose. The bathroom is too small, I hit my arms, coming out of the shower and had to dry in the main room. The open closet had me concerned, so I left most of my stuff in my luggage. Housekeeping did not clean the room too well, because somebody's used tissues […] were still behind the night table (I had to plug in the lamp and discovered them). Otherwise, the staff was very friendly and helpful. THe hotel is closely located to the subway system and it gives you a true feel for the real Toronto. I was never concerned about my safety. I would stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The location is good, but the comfort lacks in that the bathroom was so small I had to stand up on the toilet seat to close the door, the shower I took at 630am was ice cold so I didn't bother with the continental breakfast as I was so glad to get out of there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel, good location, best price--Toronto"
Old hotel in transitional neighborhood off the beaten track--but two blocks from subway which is one stop from main Yonge line. Excellent price makes it a bargain.Genuine Expedia guest review
