I understand the limitations of a 'boutique' hotel but the parking was more than 3 blocks away and there was NO air conditioning as advertised. Upon arrival there was a floor fan running in the 86 degree room which the front desk clerk said he would look to get the A/C working. Did not and was not. Was shown two other rooms, both with no A/C. When asked […] to speak with the manager the following day we kept getting the run-a-round as the clerks were well trained in rote responses. "Great location but"
Great location, fair price, friendly but unknowledgeable staff. The hotel is comfortable but a little tired. I had to jury rig the bathroom sink plug, hope that I had a sharp object to work the tv remote and forget the forget the breakfast. As for the telephone bring your own. Yet I still enjoyed the place for comfort and location.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel fails in HVAC systems (too noisy in summer)"
Bad experience Hard too sleep. But staff very pleasant and ready to help.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good location, easy access to subway"
The hotel was in a good location with easy access to Sherbourne subway station which enables you to get around. The hotel itself was a bit dated needing some work on A/C. It was like sleeping under a waterfall, hearing the constant noise of running water but its better than trying to sleep in a very hot room. The restaurant underneath the hotel (Gabbys) […] was excellent, good service, good food. That's one of the reasons why I booked the hotel along with its location. Overall satisfied. "First stay-First Impression"
This was my first stay here. I am very familiar with the area and really like it a lot choosing Isabella as a second choice when my usual hotel up a block had no vacancy. Isabella Hotel has a nice vibe, real nice patio, great natural light in lobby, hassle-free parking for my pickup truck, attentive and efficient service at check-in. Very clean. BUT, […] the room. The room reminded me of travelling in the Soviet Union in the 1970's. Too small, too "tight" for a 6'2" man with a tiny girlfriend. A strangely positioned window that offered a view if you stood on the bed ( we did) but otherwise VERY claustrophobic! I'd give Isabella a second chance but only after carefully quizzing the reservation agent first. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"First time travellers in TO. Location was convenie"
First time travellers in TO. Location was convenient. You can walk from hotel to core of downtown easily. Hotel was terrible though they had to move us 2 times because our temperature control was not working. It was extremely hot. We had to open our windows at night to get some sleep. Lay out of hotel is weird too. If you are sitting on the toilet your […] knee will touch the sink and you have to sit slantly because of no space! Very small. Elevator can only fit 5 people so if you are afraid of space then u might as well take the stairs. Beware of asking the hotel to call a cab service for you too. Cab will charge you tremendously. I think they know the owners and they give them a cut. Might as well go to streets and get a cab yourself. Breakfast is horrible too. They only have 1 microwave for the entire hotel that is located i. The lobby. Very dirty. They dont clean it Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Our Stay at the Isabella Hotel and Suites!!!"
When I arrived the girl at the desk Doreen was very pleasant. She was able to check me in my room earlier than 3pm, which was wonderful as I was meeting a friend thereafter to show me a bit of Toronto. The room was clean, small, but fine for someone just using it to sleep. Our bed was quite comfortable. We will be booking there again upon another visit. […] Thank you to the staff for your prompt response whenever we required anything, such as more towels, and hair dryer. :-) If I could suggest one thing, that would be to have a little more items for the continental breakfast. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice-looking hotel on quiet street, bad soundproof"
Hotel is on a quiet street, so barely heard any traffic noise, but neighbouring hotel tenants could be audible entering and exiting the floor until about 3am. Mostly doors slamming were heard, but there was some loud conversation as well. Hotel clerk spoke sternly to me about not smoking in my room and the consequences if I did. The room when I entered […] had the mild stench of cigarette smoke already inside, which I found rather ironic. You can't call a room non-smoking when clearly someone had already smoked there in the past or people in neighbouring rooms had been smoking. I would have complained, but I had already spent 16hrs. that day travelling and lost 3 hrs. with the time-zone change, so I was really just wanting a quiet restful night. But of course aside from noise from the other guests, my thermostat was fixed at 26 degrees Celcius all night, and the fan ran all night but did nothing to change the temperature to a cooler 19 degrees. They had a cooling fan already in the room, but I wanted to avoid the extra noise. I think I got a whopping 2 hours of legitimate sleep in there and had an interview early the following morning so I couldn't take advantage of the free continental breakfast. Overall, I got better sleep on my 4.5 hour flight home. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Close to Concert ...Thats about All!"
The location was good because it was close to the concert I went too, but the hotel rooms weren't very clean, the beds had hair on the comforters, not very appealing, kind of gross. The hotel was quiet, and I think it was at a great location... kind of a residential neighbourhood, but it only a leisurely 45 minute walk to the CN tower. All of the common areas were very clean and well maintained, but my room was in need of repair (bathroom door didn't lock, entry door deadbolt didn't work, cracks and poor workmanship on some of […] the drywall). Given the awful reviews on here, I was pretty hesitant to stay here. However, the room was actually nicer than the pictures online, and we had no issues with heat (it's the winter), or water pressure/temperature. "Burst water pipe"
On arriving at the hotel at 7pm in freezing temperatures, there was a sign saying the hotel was closed!! I was assured that the Clarion […] Hotel knew all about me & it had been all arranged - yes you'll have to walk - no the Clarion Hotel had no record of me!!! "Not too Shabby"
My overall stay was great. I had no problems checking in or out, the front desk representatives were very pleasent and cheerful. The rooms were small, but cute and chic. The only issue I had was the shower was not very clean, there was mildew in the grout. There was also no recycling bin. There was not much of a selection at breakfast, however this […] was not a big deal for me. Cereal did just. In addition, there's no parking or parking access at the hotel. There public parking about 1min north west of the hotel. It costed me $10 for the night to park. All in all I give this hotel a 4/5. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This is one of the most inexpensive hotels in Downtown Toronto, but with good quality rooms if you are just look for a simple clean place to sleep. The rooms are small (it's an old building), but you are in downtown Toronto, so you should not be spending much time in your room. Everything is within walking distance of the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
We booked thru an external website and were disappointed to find that parking was NOT included in the price of the room as we had thought. Room size was quite small - but that wasn't a surprise given it's location in Downtown TO. Overall a little pricey for what you get - but we were satisfied with our stay. "Nice boutique hotel"
The Isabella was a nice boutique hotel. Our room newly renovated, but we heard the sound of rushing water through pipes the whole night, which was a bit noisy. .Great stay for the value. Rooms small but if you are just in them to sleep they are completely adequate. Room was clean and neat. Desk staff was polite and efficient. The hotel is close to bus and subway stops so […] travel without a car is easy. Parking is a problem but a lot close by is good value for the night. "Cheap & Cheerful"
Smallest hotel room I have ever been in (smaller than Manhattan). The elevator is so tiny, if you are claustrophobic you may have a hard time in there! Clean, comfy bed. No parking and the public lot near by is frightening (I kept expecting to run across a dead body or witness some other horrific crime down there) and a bit of a distance if you have […] a lot of stuff to carry. We were on the 7th floor and there was a constant water sloshing sound (like someone in the the bath tub) for the entire duration of our stay. I have no idea what it was. If you are a light sleeper, you will likely find this to be a huge distraction. Great location, very close to a Subway station. Would recommend for a clean place to lay your head down after a long day of sight seeing or after a special event, but not to spend any amount of time in, way too small. The Hotel had limited parking... and had to be reserved?? ...unless you reserved you were out of luck... We circled the block looking for a driveway... finally parking in a no parking zone so we could run into the hotel... Toronto Parking Enforcement tried to move us along before we could register at the hotel... one of us checked in, the other begged […] the Enforcement Officer for another minute as registration at the hotel took a few minutes...one staff member on duty and a number of guests meant waiting your turn... we checked in but, I had to wander around the neighbourhood to find public parking... which all told was $24.00....an unpleasant surprise... the room was clean but spartan.... we were 2 km from our evening destination and each trip was about $9.00 for taxi rides... it was pouring rain which is part of life... "Decent hotel in a so-so setting."
This hotel is fine. The room was small with no view to speak of but it was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The one drawback is the neighbourhood: it's slightly down-and-out. The second day I was there featured a fistfight between some deranged fellow and a cop, right in the middle of Sherbourne Street. […] Not a place I'd recommend to families, but if you're not the type to balk at a less-than-perfect setting and are looking for an inexpensive, clean hotel within short walking distance to Church and Yonge Streets, the Isabella is totally fine.
