Vendange Carmel Inn and Suites - Carmel

Was very nice and recently remodeled rooms. There is still some work going on in the back but that didn't bother us. Clean rooms, kid friendly, and very close to downtown Carmel & the beach. About a 15 minute walk. Will definitely come back.

Hotel was ok. The front desk attendant was a little awkward. The rooms were very small and did not match the pictures provided. Nothing was bad about the overall experience everyone was kind and polite and everything was clean. There was construction going on but only during the day. Overall ok stay.

We did not like location of hotel. Rooms were old and in bad condition, parking lot is very small, busy and noisy location, and they were remodeling. We would never stay there again.

Here is a list of our unfortunate events during our stay at this hotel: Paper thin walls Construction until 9:30pm and started at 8:30am Staff is extremely unprofessional, jumping out of the lobby while my wife and I returned late for the evening to ask me about our breakfast selection startling my wife, super creepy. Checked in outside on a patio […] table because the lobby was being renovated, then was provided the room right above the lobby being renovated. Never informed when booking hotel that major renovations were happening Rooms are extremely outdated Free Breakfast is not really breakfast Was never provided Wifi information Fireplace in the room has no wood and I do not think it even works In-Room Refrigerator doesn't work Parking is Limited Considered leaving after the first night regardless of how expensive elsewhere would cost just to be able to relax. My 1,000++ hotel/resort stays taught me if the rate is too good ask questions. It is my fault for not asking why the rate was a paltry $55 in Carmel-by-the-Sea. I'm certain post renovation w/ the dust and detritus in public rooms are gone it will be lovely but not $55. Good news is Carmel inn owners are finally refurbishing. In fairness, they are under construction and making improvements, any the staff were frienly and kind. However, I would never stay in the front building again. Way too noisy because it fronts the street. Walls are very thin and we heard a loud group next door late into the night. Lastly, and it may seem minor, but they advertise FREE Internet in the […] room, however the signal is so weak it wouldn't connect. Nice, small motel. Enjoyed the better than usual breakfast (with fresh fruits, English muffins, etc.). The soap they provided (only one a day) did not last through the shower. The only real issue for me was not having cell phone reception (AT&T, zero bars)!

The accommodation is a series of buildings converted to rooms/accomodation. They have been tastefully done and have a cottage/boutique feel. Room had mold and no wi fi as promised. So they "upgraded" the second night when in fact the second was what we paid for .The first of two nights we did not sleep since the room was over heated , the lights did't work, there was mold, no Internet, small claustrophobic room and the new owners said it was be Re remodeld and it will change.well then: why […] rent it now? When we pulled up, I was immediately disappointed. When we finally got to the room, it was small, the bed was terrible, bathroom needed major upgrades, and there was construction going on in the premises. I ended up calling another hotel and stayed there. I couldn't bare sleeping in this hotel even for a night.

We had a fantastic experience this past weekend here. It is about a mile from the little city of Carmel in a quiet neighborhood and about 30 min to Big Sur. The hotel had a bed and breakfast feel and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I would recommend this place to everyone!

Nice little hotel with friendly staff. Not close enough to downtown to really walk in the evenings, due to Carmel's lack of sidewalks amd street lights, but close enough. There is plenty of free parking downtown in the off season anyway.

The room is clean and had a nice flat screen tv. The bathroom was fine and had a tub/shower. The walls are a little thin so you can hear noise from other guests. The location is less than mile from Ocean Avenue in Carmel. Breakfast consisted of fruit, bagels/breads, and cereal/oatmeal. Coffee and juice were also provided. Hotel and room interior were quaint and clean. However the location is right on a very busy road - so there is very significant road noise, including trucks in the night. I can't imagine staying in the summer when you'd want to have the windows open. I stayed in January - and still had to wear earplugs all night. Their back rooms were being renovated, […] so there was also construction noise until at least 7pm on Sunday -- and started again before 8am on Monday. I could hear conversations in the next room and below me, apparently in the lobby. The walls are paper thin. And this is after I asked for a particularly quiet room in advance! The bed was very saggy, clearly old and cheap to begin with. The old wall heater made the room roasting when set on only 60 degrees. Needless to say I will not be staying there again. Walls were paper thin, I was not able to sleep much as I could actually hear snoring in the next room. Room was clean but small, location was ok. My best rating is would I stay again and the answer would be NO.

Insulation of the building could be better. We got woke up at 2:00 am. with thumping overhead which went on for hours. It sounded like maybe they were exercising or moving furniture or something. Otherwise we have no other complaints.

We were surprised by the contrast of poor reviews in comparison to the excellent shape we saw when we arrived. One of the concierges said the former owner was dishonest as well as a poor landlord who had let the place go to ruins. The inn has been recently remodeled and everything is very nice. When the new owners took over they changed everything. […] Awesome furnishings, awesome breakfast, very polite and helpful staff, etc. I would stay here again. It's a very cute place with nice extras such as a little kitchenette in some of the rooms. My only gripes are that (1) it's the furthest hotel from downtown Carmel ... though it's only a 15-20 minute walk and (2) we had a room in the very front building and could hear traffic on the street at night. It's not a major road so nothing like highway noise, but if you're a light sleeper then get a room in one of the buildings behind the front ones.
