A clean transfer hotel on a main artery half a block from a taxi stage in the Cathedral neighborhood and a short walk to Metro or the Mercat Sa Caterina that is a value is tough to beat. Some rooms are small and in need of minor repair.

Very nice, modern looking hotel. Very helpful staff for booking tours or finding your way around town. Within walking distance to many of the biggest sites, or if you prefer public transportation it's located within 2 minutes of a cab stand and bus stop.

This is a solid 3 star hotel. The positives: ideal location, reasonable price, free wi-fi, free bottled water daily, mini fridge in room, and very nice staff. The pictures are not representative and the exterior picture is of a different hotel. The package bought they wanted to upgrade at check-in and my room had a lovely view of drainpipes and walls. The hotel staff are pleasant and the hotel is in a great location but the room had no desk, no chair, and one tiny bar of soap. We spent seven nights at the hotel Comfortel Almirante. Perfect location, near to the old town.Nice and friendly staff in general, some of the reception personel did not understand english very well. The breakfast was many-sided and good quality. Some of the rooms and bathrooms are very small, even in European standard. Dissapointed overall with the stay... staff was helpful but couldn't speak much english.. only one guy who spoke well thought too good of himself to share proper information... the room was ok not much complain there.. except the knocking on any door on the floor felt as if your room door was knocked... close to the street and rooms have no sound proofing […] so could get noisy.... Got room 701 and we were pleasantly surprised at the size of the room...... there was a king size bed, a full size pull-out couch for our daughter and a cot for our son. And best of all, there was an outdoor terrace with 2 lounge chairs and a table with 2 chairs (complete with a view of the city). It was great having this additional space for the kids […] to run around, and a place for us to have a leisurely breakfast (just bought food at the nearby market). I thought the tub could've been cleaned a little bit better (the corners in particular, and I wish the marble floors in our room could've been mopped instead of just vacuumed. Floor was clean when we arrived, but we stayed for 10 days and I wish it could've been mopped during our stay - especially since we had kids with us. Overall a pleasant experience for us. The Confortel Almirante was rather expensive for what you get. I'm surprised by the average rating of 4 stars. My room was very small and the walls were all scuffed up. A chunk of the sink countertop was missing exposing the particle board underneath. And the safe in my closet wouldn't close, so I had to keep pushing it in to open and close the closet […] doors. The location is great... right near the Jaume metro station. A couple of months ago, I stayed at the AC Diplomat. Much better service, quality of hotel and price. we checked in and went up to our room only to find we had been given a handicapped room, of course at this point we were so exhausted and luggage was lost we just dealt with it. The room was big compared to most european hotels and the location was fine but that's where the good ends. Ending up staying here last minute. Hotel is in a great central location near Las Ramblas and the gothic quarters. The hotel room is bigger then i expected. The only thing good about this hotel was the location and the complimentary water. The beds were awful, the service was rude and the building run down. We sat down for the breakfast we paid extra for and not until after we had started eating did the staff come over and drop a bill for one breakfast, why would we have paid for 1 person and not the other? […] We got a special deal for breakfast through hotels.com and certainly would not have paid the amount they were requesting if we hadn't gone through the website. We were happy to have been checked in early. Went to the room and discovered we had been given a room at the back of the hotel. Although quiet, this meant looking out to other people's balconies and laundry. We did not open the windows throughout our stay. We were quite excited and decided to unpack quickly and then go out to see some sights. While […] unpacking, someone opened our door which gave us a shock!!The other person was shocked too. Turned out that another guest had been checked into the same room within the hour!!! He apologised profusely, although it was not his fault. The second night we were there, the internet access broke down. As we were in different time zones, my husband needed to email some documents at 3am. He went down to the reception to inform them of the breakdown but they were not convinced and said that my husband's computer was faulty. He then asked for some documents to be faxed over and was refused initially, but later the recepton staff compromised and did it for him. When we complained to the receptionist in the morning about the internet being down, again he too did not believe us. We told him something has to be done as we need the access, and it needs to be repaired as soon as possible, but he said there was nothing he could do about it. We then asked for the manager and he said he did not know what time the manager was coming. Later on, we heard other people complaining about their internet access as well, and everything was fine by the time we came back from our outing. Read more

I stayed here for a week in June and was very pleased. The hotel is right on Via Laitana in the middle of El Gotico within a 5 minute walk from the metro stop Urquinaona and 10 from Jauame 1. Despite being on Via Laitana it's very quiet inside (I had a courtyard facing room. The hotel was spotless and the cleaning staff amazing. If you don't speak spanish […] there are several people on hand who speak other languages including english who are willing to help. I have stayed in other hotels in the same area and this has been my best experience. I cannot rate the restaurant within the hotel as I did not eat there due to the proximity of so many other good places to eat. Read more

We were also a small walk away from La Boqueria, Las Ramblas, and the Cathedral. If you want a hotel simply as somewhere to put your head down for the night then this is a reasonable option as its 5 mins walk to the Gothic Cathedral and La Rambla . Staff were friendly and helpful . Decor of the building is a little tired , and the room facilities are miminal (No Tea/coffee […] making facility that us Brits love so much) . I would avoid booking the connection from the Airport to the Hotel thats offered on Expedia , the shared bus service was awful , we were kept waiting an hour and had to phone Aerocity to work out what was going on. We did not go with high expectations based on reviews. When we first came into the hotel we thought the guy at the front desk was very friendly, and when I asked for a room with a balcony, he said he would see what he could. Then he made it sound as though he did me a massive favour by giving us "the best room" in the hotel. I saw others when they were […] getting cleaned, it was probably the worse. very dark room, lights were different colours, tv staticky and bathroom sink's drains were terrible. Other than that, we had a very comfortable stay! They lend us a converter, when asked for band-aids they gave me about 5, and the housekeeper was so sweet. The location was PERFECT, we were on the second floor and the traffic was totally fine at night (which is the only time we spent in the room: to sleep). For the price, loved it. We were in barcelona for 7 nights so got a cheaper apartment/hostel for the first 5 nights. We thought we'd gotten a good deal in the Confortel for the last 2. Not so! We were able to get a reduced rate but this meant we were put in a small & pokey room - only just big enough for a double bed. Maybe you'd expect that but the safe was broken, there were […] scuff marks on the walls and all the fixtures & fitting in the bathroom seemed loose & in bad repair. The TV had a fuzzy picture (in the hostel we had cable in our privat room!) and the so called "free minibar" was nothing more than a few tiny bottles of water. Also the lifts felt as though they might break at any time. This place might be good if you're paying top prices for a swanky room. But don't come here looking for a good deal on a hotel. Read more
