The hotel is convenient to Atocha and that's about the only plus. Property needs a facelift and interior updating. Customer services needs to be improved. The front desk and bellman service were not what we expect when staying at any hotel. Would not stay here again.

The only thing disappointing is the appearance of the exterior when you drive and arrive. It needs a face lift outside. The inside has been renovated and is done very nicely. The hotel was very nice but extremely hard to find. Access to the hotel is difficult because it is at the end of a very narrow street in the old section. It is within walking distance to main attractions. It was very clean and well kept. The staff was welcoming and helpful.

Excellent. Great location a few blocks from the Prado and other major museums. Reasonably priced Four star hotel. Just avoid the over priced breakfast. Walk two blocks to the train station and you can get break for one third the hotel price.Clean comfortable rooms with helpful staff.

Excellent location for walking to major museums and parks. Room large, clean, comfortable with many amenities. Staff friendly and helpful and most speak English. Food good but only slightly above average. Better dining opportunities exist outside the hotel. This was my second time staying at the Agumar and I will stay there in the future.

The Agumar hotel is in a great location. People can walk to the principal museums, and in addition have in four blocks the Atocha station train where you can use the media velocity or the speed of AVE. In addition, you can use the metro. I suggest that the hotel can provide a metro map and a Madrid map with the principals attractions. I went to Sevilla […] and the hotel provide us with these two guides. Agumar Hotel is very clean and employs are very friendly. I believe the building need a at night a more lighting indication to advertise the hotel ( Like las Vegas. Hotel has a nice light that attract costumers). We recommend this hotel for any traveler. Read more

Clean and modern room, comfortable beds, good location. Three (long) blocks from the Prado, and Two blocks fro the Atocha station. We had the family interconnecting rooms. Our two sons stayed in the connected room. It worked out well and was very affordable.

We stayed twice at the Agumar - a 4-night stay, and then one night before our flight home. The first 4 nights we had a very clean room (620) with parquet floors and two twin beds that had been pushed together to make a "double". The beds tended to move around a bit, as they slid easily on the parquet. But the parquet was nice and clean, bath was clean […] and somewhat updated, and the A/C worked great! The hotel was ~5 min walk to the Atocha Renfe metro stop and ~10 min to the train station. The Aeropuerto Express bus to/from the airport stops at the train station and only cost 5 euro. Based on the cleanliness and convenience of the hotel, we booked the Agumar again for our last night, but the room we got on our last night (305) was on a different floor and different side of the hotel. It smelled noticeably smoky in the hallway - not as strong in the room and it got better once we turned on the A/C. The room had cheap carpet, so didn't seem as clean and bright as our first room. I had requested a double, but the twin beds this time were separated by a nightstand. Fortunately we were only there one night. The breakfast buffet was quite excellent - nice spread of hams, chorizo, and cheeses; hot items including fried eggs, bacon, potatoes, tortillas; breads, pastries, fruit, yogurts and cereals; juices, water, and coffee. Wi-fi also worked pretty well although it's 6 euro/24 hr period and can only be used on one device at a time. Overall, a decent, efficient, no frills stay. Read more

Hotel was 3 star not 4. Should have included breakfast and Free Wifi. They charge 15 euro per person for BF and if you use their computer then 3 euro per hour. This is rediculous in this age. In appearance the hotel is a good value. The problem is the noise level. The walls lack sound proofing and you can hear your neighbor's conversations even when it's clear they are speaking on a normal voice. Everytime a door shots anywhere on the floor you can hear it as if it was your own room's door. You can hear the toilets flushing all night long, […] and the staff start cleaning early in the morning and you can hear them speaking outside and the vacum cleaners running. This is my third stay at the Hotel Agumar and it is like home to me while in Madrid. 3 blocks from Reine Sophia Museum (Picassos Guernica), 5 blocks from the Prado (amongst other great works Bosches "Garden of Earthly Delights"), 6 blocks from the Thyssen Bornemizsa, 4 blocks from the Caixa Forum Gallery/Museum an architectural tour-de-force. 1 1/2 […] blocks from the Metro/Train station Atocha-Renfe gets you to Puerta del Sol 3 stations away as well as the Royal Palace and Plaza Mayor. There are dozens of good restaurants within 6 blocks, gallerys, pubs, and shopping too. Not in the hub of activities the hotel sits on the edge where in another direction out the door is a neighborhood with churches and grittier cafes and bars. Although the location of Agumars is my favorite thing, the hotel itself is beautiful. Well maintained, clean, up to date (except no free wireless) the rooms are spacious, well appointed and mostly quiet. 3 Larger elevators (for europe) make people and luggage traffic not a problem. The front desk is very helpful and they "discovered" for us the airport bus (2E and 30min faster than the metro). I highly recommend Hotel Agumars. Read more

My stay at the Argumar Hotel in Madrid was pleasant. The room was small, but efficiently furnished. I would have enjoyed a coffee maker. The bathroom was very nice, I suggest to keep the toilet seat closed, otherwise I had a bad odor in the bathroom which traveled into the bedroom. I would stay at this hotel again. KH

We stayed here for 2 nights. From MAD airport, you can take the Airport express bus, costs 2 euros and it takes 20-40 mins to get to Atocha bus/train station depending on traffic. This hotel is 5 mins walk from Atocha bus/metro station. Once you get off at Atocha, look for the giant baby face sculpture, cross the median (Repsol gas station) to Infanta […] Isabel, make a right, hotel is about 2-3 blocks up. This hotel is also within 15-mins walk to hop-on hop-off tour bus (costs 24 euros good for 2 days), make a right from hotel lobby and walk on that same side of the street until you see McDonalds -bus stops between McDonalds and NH hotel; at the back of the hotel is Retiro Park, definitely worth exploring, also close to Prado Museum. Major tourist attractions are within 15-45 mins walk if you dont mind walking. Rooms are clean, but room temperature was too warm, feels like 78-80F in November even though we already set to lowest setting, not sure if this is just our room. We ended up opening the windows to get some cool air, but we can hear other people talking from other rooms. The bathroom comes with 110v power outlet and hair dryer. Bathroom is clean but the shower is difficult to operate. Front desk staff not too friendly. If you prefer to eat outside the hotel, there are places to eat within 10 mins walk. All 3 museums within walking distance as are the main plazas. No good restaurants close by, only cafeterias for sandwiches. The only drawback to the hotel was the lack of Wifi. The hotel was clean but very noisy inside. The walls are thin and every sound could be heard, even just normal conversation in the next room. The rooms were very hot and ventilation system did not work well. We were charged for internet, using the safe in the room, breakfast, which was not very good. Smoking rooms are right next to non-smoking rooms […] so the smell was overwhelming. My husband and I were backpacking around Europe for 2 weeks and Madrid was the middle of our trip. It was fantastic to stay at such a comfortable hotel! Big room, large full bathroom (for European standards of course), good toiletries, clean, good bed, but best of all the breakfast buffet (super yummy and lots of food including protein rich foods!) […] and the location! It is walking distance from the Atocha Renfe train station, walking distance to a metro stop and walking distance to El Paseo del Prado, el Parque buen retiro and 3 awesome museums. Wonderful!
