Had a lovely stay at the hotel on the site Jean Michelle looked after us very well and explained everything even about driving and where to eat , only complaint was that we booked a balcony room and didn't get one and couldn't be transferred as there is only 2 rooms with balconies and both were taken , otherwise a lovely stay .Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great holiday for any family with children"
After reading a number of less than complimentary reviews we were a little concerned about what we would find at Les Ormes but I have to say we were very pleased. It is true the apartment is a self catering unit rather than a hotel room as you may belief when booking but that said it was neat, tidy and had most of what you would expect (shower, toilet, […] kitchen area, bedroom and sofa bed) It did not a couple of items you may have expected such as a microwave and tea towels. You have full access to all of the activities (some cost extra) and swimming pools on site and the restaurant in the hotel is very good. Food for breakfast etc is readily available by buying from the shop onsite or doing a cheaper big shop in the nearby Super U in Dol de Bretagne. All in all decent accommodation in a site that has lots of activities and interesting places to visit around the area. One note that seems to have caused contention - You have to agree to clean your apartment properly at the end of your stay (brushes and mops provided) or pay 60 Euros for housekeeping to do it. Finally there is a 1 Euro per day per adult charge for local taxes. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We booked in for only one night as we travelled up the West coast of France. We wish we had the time to stay longer. The hotel was lovely and the facilities available were excellent. Our only slight critisism was that the room was quite croded although we had asked for the provision to sleep 3 and there did not seem to be any control over the air conditioning […] which meant the room was quite warm for our likeing. "What a disappointment!"
We were looking forward to this stay and therefore agreed on the 1 bedroom apartment to be sure that we would have ample space for our 2 night stay. Boy were we disappointed. The apartments are apparently not part of the hotel so we were greeted to rooms that were not even made up, trash from a previous guest left out in front of the unit, and a list […] of rules a mile long for what we had to do to clean up our mess before we left. This was their "apartment / hotel" service! We do everything for them. Also, the picture that they show you of the charming chateaux is all very nice but it has nothing to do with the hotel. It is in fact, private and you cannot go anywhere near it. When we asked them they said that it "inspires the ambiance of their hotel". What a joke. The final disappointment was the trash that was outside our room stayed their the entire duration of our stay. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone. Go into Dol-de-Bretagne. There are much better choices there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very disappointed, I try very hard to be open minded, but could never recommend this hotel. We arrived mid afternoon and when we went tom our room the hallway was in darkness, we had to find our room by the light of cell phones. The room was musty and the bathroom very smelly.... We reported the lights to the front desk, but they didn't seem concerned […] the the light were not fixed. Beds were like sleeping on a board. We went to the restaurant later in the evening to see if we could get dessert and were refused... They grudgingly gave us hot water for tea and a bucket of ice in a dirty container... Thankfully it was not for drinks.. Would never go back. Was very disappointed.. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A éviter !"

ATTENTION, WARNING: the castle in the pitcure has nothing to do with the hotel (it is a private property). The address of the hotel is wrong: you are not close to sea side, but you are in the french country near Epiniac. The hotel is a low profile 3 stars, the crew is completely unskilled (not able to book a dinner in the hotel restaurant). If you have […] problem the manager of hotel answer to you only by phone (never see in face). The room are very small with landscape on the trush vessel. "Beautiful rural campsite"
10/19/14 WestofIre2013 Galway
Holidayed here in August 2012, our fourth campsite holiday in France and our first in this area. Booked with Lifestyle holidays, a Uk company as the value for 12 nights was excellent. Stayed in a 3 bed mobile with gas BBQ & decking which was ideal for our family of 2 adults and 3 children aged 15, 13, 11. The pitch was the largest we ever had. It was grassy, spacious and well set apart from neighbouring mobiles. The campsite is part of the Castels chain, is set on a golf course in a rural area. The nearest town Dol De Bretagne is approx 7km away. The campsite is approx 2/2.5 hours drive from Cherbourg. There is a great variety of activities on site for all ages. The pool complex is excellent with a wave pool and slides at both the indoor & outdoor pools. Activities on site include horse riding, pedaloes, tennis, climbing wall, zip wire, tree top adventure, golf, evening shows, disco, playground, archery and a games room. There is something for all ages. There is small well stocked supermarket on site, a pizzeria, bar, takeaway, restaurant, ice cream parlour/cabin. The local towns/villages have a number of large supermarkets. We did a day trip to Mont St Michel and enjoyed that immensely. It can get busy there, so an early visit is recommended. Whilst the weather was mixed during our 12 night stay, we still had a great holiday. I would highly recommend Domaine Des Ormes.
"Relaxing holiday in brittany"

Returned in mid September from a relaxing week in France at a holiday park near dol de Bretagne in Brittany care of the sun newspaper holidays and euro camp. The park closed mid September and many of the facilities were being mothballed for the close of season. The classic plus chalet provided for two people was fine in a good location near to the admin centre. Very peaceful with very few occupied chalets. Whilst the park boasts a large number of facilities, it appeared many were closed and the restaurants and bars closed early in the evening. For us this was not a problem, though we would have liked to have eaten in the restaurants. Not very good for children at this time of the season. Sunday the 14th was the busiest day in the park with the "open doors" day, presumably for the locals. Many of the facilities were available for the day. The park location was ideal for exploring the coast, Mont st. Michel, cancale, dinan, st malo and the like. Poodling around the countryside. Very enjoyable. Dinan was well worth a day out and eating oysters on the pier at cancale memorable and highly recommended. Mont St Michael was as usual crowded and a must if you haven't been before. The beach at anse du guesclin ( on the d201 between St malo and cancale on the coast road) a gem. La table ronde restaurants in dol de Bretagne was well worth visiting and the food was excellent. So much so we ate there several times. To sum up, the resort and amenities were potentially very good though we felt like we never had the opportunity to enjoy them to the full as the park was closing in the next days. I would not bring children to the park in September.
"Fab family break, lovely parc with wide range of facilities"
09/19/14 771Jay124 Cardiff, United Kingdom
Although the weather was mixed, not unexpected at the end of Aug, the range of facilities on site and visits in the area made for a great hol for a family with 3 children aged 12-19. Swimming in the range of pools when warm, outdoor activities including zipwire; high tree climbing, pitch and putt at other times. Need to budget and plan if children want to do all activities, but pools are free and very clean. Lovely places to visit within 30mins drive including Mont Saint Michel and Dinan. I personally did not find the on site shop any more expensive than any other camp we've stayed at over the last 10 years, good range of produce, and the fresh veg and fruit was as cheap as the local supermarket (which is open on Sunday morning), and Dol market (Sat). Domaine staff very friendly and helpful, really liked the free Fri night spectacular; good bit of fun. Takeaway good, pizza restaurant more pricey, but we only ate there once. Only complaint is that I would have preferred an oven and/or grill in the mobile home as well as microwave and hob.
"Proper chill out, relax and great time........."
09/15/14 nigelsvrider Trowbridge, Wilts
My wife booked this as a short getaway for a bit of chillaxing and charging our batteries. It wasn't the short break and getaway we expected, it turned out to be a fantastic holiday, (thank you "Canvas"). From the minute we got there, unpacked and chilled with the complimentary bottle of wine, we had a fabulous time and are already talking about returning again next year. The site/complex (in our eyes) was faultless along with the staff which didn't just carry out a job, they come across as loving the work they do, from the Canvas staff to the on site team, all were superb. We stayed in a classic 2 bed and the bed was very comfortable but in all fairness our accommodation was a bit tight with the toilet, shower cubicle and around the double bed being very tight for space. It didn't hinder us as we are not large people but anyone on the large side would suffer. An upgrade to the next level would be recommended!! (A 2 bed comfort plus)? There is plenty to do on the complex, the pools are great and warm with something for all tastes. Around and about there are many places to see, all within a 30kms drive. Overall we can't praise this site/complex/place and Canvas holidays enough. Thank you again and see you next year. Nige & Val Dear xx
"A pleasant surprise!"
09/14/14 Mumwith3boys York, United Kingdom
We went for two nights at the end of our holiday just before catching the ferry at St Malo to return to the UK. The campsite was very easy to find. It is quite big but has a certain charm about it - it is in the grounds of a chateau and set in a forest. We were in a Eurocamp pre set up tent which was great value. It was lovely to have all the facilities set up and the pitch was very spacious. We went along to the bar at happy hour and also used the pizza restaurant. We used the pools both days. Lots of slides to keep our boys entertained. We took our bikes and cycled around the site but we also noticed some people driving from their tent to the swimming pool/centre of the campsite!?! As we were there only a short time, there were lots of things we didn't get chance to try. We would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Had a lovely 4 night stay at domaine des ormes, the site has soo much to keep you entertained: grocery shop, 3 restaurants, a bar, souvenir shop, reception, 2 pools one indoor all with flumes. Then there the children's play park, crazy golf, go ape tree top adventure, zip wire, pedaloes, horse riding and golf. We stayed with Kelair however other companies using the site included canvas, lifestyle and eurocamp. The site was clean and tidy all accommodations were in excellent condition. We had a fab stay great place for families, will definitely stay here again.
"Camping with Eurocamp at Domaine des Ormes"
09/11/14 Darryn L Surrey, UK
We went last week of August and had a really great time (the weather was pleasant and it rained at night so bonus for daytime!). The directions on how to get there in the guide sent by Eurocamp were spot on - we had no issue finding our way to the site nor to the camping reception area as has been mentioned previously). We were greeted by a friendly staff member who showed us the way to our accommodation. Staff helpful and friendly wherever one went on site. We were left a little calling card one day inviting our 3 boys to the kiddie camps but as we were out visiting places during the day, we never got to use those facilities, although when we went past them, the staff and children always seemed to be enjoying themselves; so that must be a good sign! We stayed at Thuyas area. Our canvas tent was clean, well aired with plenty of warm blankets if needed (we didn't) and we loved the deck of cards we were given - we taught the boys a new game and spent every evening together playing after dinner. The ablution block was always well stocked with toilet paper and the floors clean from debris, although could do with having a mop in the block. My only issues were lack of hanging space in shower cubicle and cobwebs could be cleaned away more frequently. Never had to wait for shower or toilet. The facilities at this site were plentiful and large site to walk/cycle around - and despite the number of people, never felt crowded (although glad that the lifeguards were vigilant as the indoor slides could get a little manic at times). We used the pools after we had been out for the day, although the boys would have loved to have tried the zip wire, pedaloes and mini golf. Guess the facilities are mainly geared for good weather, but as we didn't go there to stay at the site all day, it wasn't an issue for us. So many lovely towns, villages and places to explore in Northern Brittany. The facilities are based roughly at the entrance and really don't take too long to get no matter where you are based (although I did see a family get in their car to drive to the pool!!! Maybe they forgot the child's buggy at home...but then there are some to kiddie bikes and carts to hire...). We ate at the restaurant one night which was decent and fairly priced. Yes, the onsite shop may be a little pricey than the superstores, but that's convenience and is no different to anywhere. It was good for the first night to get some basic provisions like milk and baguettes and then we just shopped at the big stores when out during the day (great value!). If you had to be picky, perhaps the cost of the washing machine and tumble dryer a little steep, but as they are large and could take loads of clothes (my 4 days washing for a family of 5 barely covered a third of the drum) I guess you would get your money's worth if you had loads to do in one sit. I took my own washing powder along. The main things: park is clean with various different types of accommodation to suit you and your budget, great facilities, friendly staff and best of all, the children were very happy - now that we are back home, they are asking when are we going next year! This was our first experience with Eurocamp and we are keen to see other parts of France, so as we were very happy with it all this time, will be using them again.
"When camping starts being funping !"

We booked the holiday as part of a promotional offer through a news paper but extended it in order to get a full 10 days. We received maps and welcoming material through the post - nice touch - as well as SMS updates and information before we left. The site is located in a main road so is dead easy to find. The reception was very efficient and the staff are all bi lingual making it easy to get settled in. The accommodation is varied form amazing tree houses to safari tents and more basic fixed canvass tents. During the day there is a ton of stuff for kids. Multiple swimming pools in doors and outdoors. Slides, wave machines. There is high ropes, parks and bikes. We went out of season but the restaurants where good but a little pricey. If you are looking for really authentic French food the site is 20 mins from Combourg and other medieval towns. You will be staying at a very clean, well kept and loved by the children park if you did decide to book. Bon voyage !
"Not bad, not great"
09/01/14 rlk1972 Manchester
Stayed 1 week at the end of August 2014 as part of a two centre holiday in France having spent the previous week in the Vendee. We booked direct with the site and stayed in one of their two wooden 'Huttes' (not to be confused with their nature lodges which are bigger) 1st impressions are of that it's a very big site, much bigger than we've visited before. This means that there are always lots of vehicles moving through the site, as many people would drive down to the pool areas and leave their cars as it's a fair walk to the furthest flung parts of the site. We didn't like the layout of the site, the indoor and outdoor pools are quite far apart and the rest of the facilities are right next to the entrance to the site, which meant a steady stream of cars past lots of people, those with young kids will know how stressful this can be as you can't let them out of your sight for a second. We are from the pizza takeaway and snack restaurant once and also visited the Spanish evening in the main restaurant which was unlimited paella and sangria, for 17 euros each, which was ok value. We had pretty changeable weather whilst we were there which isn't the fault of the site, but it did put the lack of all weather facilities into focus. The kids loved the indoor pool, but that's about it for a rainy day. On site shop was fine for essentials, but pretty expensive as on site shops almost always are. There's a long list of optional activities to do, but pretty much everything is chargeable and they aren't cheap. We put the kids into the site kids club, and they did enjoy it at 1st but some of the activities were aimed at very young children, which meant they didn't want to go back after two visits. The area surrounding the site is very nice, we visited; Mont st Michel - don't bother, massive tourist trap and waste of money (although you can do a 10 min helicopter flight from the site to overfly it for 120 ish euros, I was tempted, but we'd spent all our money on croissants from the on site shop) Dinan - stunning medieval town, well worth a visit, dinan port on the river is also very nice for a stroll or a bike ride Dinard - bit like a French version of Eastbourne, looked nice from the car, but as it was raining we didn't bother getting out St Malo - loved the walled town, loads of shops and restaurants, had the best mussels ever here Cancale - lots of seafood restaurants Dol de Bretagne - nearest town, nice church and cobbled high street, worth an hour stop off, nearest supermarkets are here for stocking up. The site is very well located for St Malo ferry port, which is why we chose it (and I suspect the main reason why many people visit this site). If I were a marketing person, I'd say this site was positioned directly between butlins and center parcs, it's not a bad site, just too big and impersonal for us and we probably wouldn't return for this reason
"not a 5 star site"
08/31/14 burnardbunch paignton devon
we have just spent 2 nights in our motor home at this site.we were put in the donkeys area which is fairly soft grass we saw a motor home struggle to get off their pitch and churned up the pathway the toilet block only had 4 washing up sinks and frequently were cold (so were the showers at 8 am!).although they were fairly clean i realize its hard with muddy conditions underfoot. the whole site was very noisy with lots of British and tour companies which seemed to be trying to outdo each other !every afternoon about 4 they played loud music in the pool area and everyone was meant to join in with dancing great if you like "agadoo and gangham style " on repeat for 2 hours! loads of activities at a cost to do,(pedelos were 6 euros for half an hour.) but when we went to book high ropes was told to come back at 7pm although didnt seem that busy while we watched at 2.30!the lifeguard at the waterslides had on leggings and boots so hope no one needed saving ! although we didn t need to use kids clubs the young girls in charge looked like it was a chore and seemed to let the children sit on the grass and entertain themselves ,so as they could have an easy time. this site has lost all its french character which is such a pity ,the English people i came across seemed to be happy to read English papers and not even bother to say" bonjour" to the french staff who were very welcoming .i had an english girl in the shop queue in front of me telling her mate how drunk she had got the night before (she was only about 14!)she was using much more colourful language than i have which also seemed the norm around the camp.this camp seems to be a low market butlins!!we wont be returning
