Had a lovely stay at the hotel on the site Jean Michelle looked after us very well and explained everything even about driving and where to eat , only complaint was that we booked a balcony room and didn't get one and couldn't be transferred as there is only 2 rooms with balconies and both were taken , otherwise a lovely stay .Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great holiday for any family with children"
After reading a number of less than complimentary reviews we were a little concerned about what we would find at Les Ormes but I have to say we were very pleased. It is true the apartment is a self catering unit rather than a hotel room as you may belief when booking but that said it was neat, tidy and had most of what you would expect (shower, toilet, […] kitchen area, bedroom and sofa bed) It did not a couple of items you may have expected such as a microwave and tea towels. You have full access to all of the activities (some cost extra) and swimming pools on site and the restaurant in the hotel is very good. Food for breakfast etc is readily available by buying from the shop onsite or doing a cheaper big shop in the nearby Super U in Dol de Bretagne. All in all decent accommodation in a site that has lots of activities and interesting places to visit around the area. One note that seems to have caused contention - You have to agree to clean your apartment properly at the end of your stay (brushes and mops provided) or pay 60 Euros for housekeeping to do it. Finally there is a 1 Euro per day per adult charge for local taxes. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We booked in for only one night as we travelled up the West coast of France. We wish we had the time to stay longer. The hotel was lovely and the facilities available were excellent. Our only slight critisism was that the room was quite croded although we had asked for the provision to sleep 3 and there did not seem to be any control over the air conditioning […] which meant the room was quite warm for our likeing. "What a disappointment!"
We were looking forward to this stay and therefore agreed on the 1 bedroom apartment to be sure that we would have ample space for our 2 night stay. Boy were we disappointed. The apartments are apparently not part of the hotel so we were greeted to rooms that were not even made up, trash from a previous guest left out in front of the unit, and a list […] of rules a mile long for what we had to do to clean up our mess before we left. This was their "apartment / hotel" service! We do everything for them. Also, the picture that they show you of the charming chateaux is all very nice but it has nothing to do with the hotel. It is in fact, private and you cannot go anywhere near it. When we asked them they said that it "inspires the ambiance of their hotel". What a joke. The final disappointment was the trash that was outside our room stayed their the entire duration of our stay. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone. Go into Dol-de-Bretagne. There are much better choices there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very disappointed, I try very hard to be open minded, but could never recommend this hotel. We arrived mid afternoon and when we went tom our room the hallway was in darkness, we had to find our room by the light of cell phones. The room was musty and the bathroom very smelly.... We reported the lights to the front desk, but they didn't seem concerned […] the the light were not fixed. Beds were like sleeping on a board. We went to the restaurant later in the evening to see if we could get dessert and were refused... They grudgingly gave us hot water for tea and a bucket of ice in a dirty container... Thankfully it was not for drinks.. Would never go back. Was very disappointed.. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"do not expect a hotel!"
It is not a hotel but an apartment, so bring your own soap! You get to have fun at the resort, but you must do the cleaning up yourself. i was really surprised that upon arrival i was told to give up my credit card number as a deposit and sign that I would be charged for a dirty room or anything damaged. I was offered either to do the cleaning (including […] sheets, trash, etc, to make the room as upon arrival) or pay an additional fee for maid service. This might make sense for a long stay but on hotels.com you only get one night! If you are used to youth hostels and camping it would be fine but otherwise be prepared to tidy up, and quickly! Also note that hotels.com indicated a check out time of 12 PM, but upon arrival I was told it was actually 10 AM. The resort itself seemed very nice, which is why the high ratings. "A éviter !"

"not good for campers"
07/07/14 Thea H Bedford, United Kingdom
Domaine des Ormes has an area for tents, motor homes and touring caravans. The actual pitches are Ok but there are many shortcomings, especially in relation to the price. The toilets, showers and laundry/washing up areas are extremely poor and very dirty, there is inadequate provision for rubbish and fresh water, the hook ups although they worked, were very ancient. The only advantage of this site is proximity to St Malo. The facilities on this site are by a long way the worst and dirtiest we have ever encountered in 30+ years of camping. One for campers to avoid!!
"Hesitant 4 stars, more like 3.5..."
07/04/14 Kate F London, United Kingdom
I've stayed at the site 4 times, and travelled with Thomson Alfresco 8 times, and unfortunately, our latest stay was the most disappointing, both from the cabin perspective, and from the site itself. I'll start with the cabin/Thomson review. Positives: Our cabin pitch was lovely, nice and big and private with hedges around two sides, making it ideal for little ones to play safely outside the cabin. It was also located in the quieter part of the park, away from the main areas of pools, bars etc (although this does mean a fair old walk to them...) Negatives: I travelled with my husband and two children (4 and 2) and my parents with Thomson Alfresco. We requested at booking and at check in that we be located together. My father is disabled and cannot walk great distances, so the location was important. Despite these requests, our cabins were located at opposite ends of the thomson area (apparently due to availability). This turned out to be incorrect, as several of the cabins that were located immediately next to each other, and were the same type as ours, Vivaldi luxe, remained vacant the duration of our stay so there was absolutely no reason for our request to be deliberately ignored. There were several things missing from our cabin inventory (e.g adapters, BBQ tools, oven dish...) and we had to request twice in order to be given the items. The cabin itself was in a bad state of repair, with a lightbulb hanging out of the bedside light in my 2 year olds bedroom, the shower door didn't close properly, and the clip which kept the outer door open was broken, meaning it slammed shut with every breeze. The gas BBQ was also broken, and my husband spent 45 minutes fixing it and then cleaning it (it was filthy and encrusted in rotten, burnt on food) before we could use it. When he tried to report it to the reps, they were absent from their cabin the whole afternoon. The thomson reps themselves were never to be found in the on-site reps cabin, and made no effort to make themselves visible. The only time we saw them was the day before we left when they came to arrange the check out time, and to let us know about the kids club (bit late, really!) all communication was via notes left in their cabin. When we complained about not having been located near my parents, the response was a shrug and nothing else. All in all, very disappointing, reps! The site itself. Positives: Beautiful site in parkland and trees and green spaces everywhere. Pitch sizes very good throughout site. Plenty of activities for all ages from pedaloes, horse riding, zip lines, pools, water slides, playground, mini golf, games room etc. Two restaurants on site (a further two in on-site hotel and golf club house), on site bar, SPAR, boutique shop, takeaway, creperie/ice cream hut. New restaurant le Cellier made a nice change from the main pizza restaurant, with a nice (but limited) grilled meat/fish menu and also a tapas style option. We managed an evening there while my parents babysat! We also visited the Auberge de-la-Couer Vert (just a couple of km away), as per previous visits and had a delicious meal. Highly recommended! There are several supermarkets locally to choose from: a super U and intermarche in Dol-de-Bretagne, and hyper U and carrefour in Combourg, all of which are around 10 minutes drive away. I'd stock up on food etc at these rather than the on-site SPAR which charges a premium for convenience, although is great for your morning croissants and bread. Negatives: Opening days/hours of all on-site amenities. As mentioned before, we have stayed on this site 3 times previously (all off-peak), but this was the first time when the opening hours and days seemed very sporadic. For example, we tried three times to go horse riding as the opening hours and days advertised on the stables were never adhered to. The creperie/ice cream hut on site used to be open all afternoon and evening on previous trips, but this time was only open between 3-6.30pm. As the restaurants didn't open until 7pm (more on this in a minute), it didn't really lend itself to having an ice cream/crepe post dinner as we have in the past. The main restaurant (chez Madeleine, a pizzeria) opened at 5.30 in the past, however on this trip, didn't open until 7pm. Holidaying with two young children busy all day in the swimming pool etc, means we needed early dinners as they were in bed by 7.30! This meant that we didn't eat on site with the children at all which seems a dreadful missed opportunity! The takeaway also didn't open until 7pm, and again this has been open earlier in the past. The site was quite empty our first few days, but half way through the week, it got busier (site probably half full) and gave an indication of the site in the main school holidays. I have to admit I would probably not choose this site during the summer as the facilities aren't big enough to accommodate a full site's worth of visitors. The pools were all heaving, the queues in the on-site shop were long etc etc. And I can only imagine how much worse this would get at full capacity. They were building a new addition to the outdoor water park while we were there (multi lane slides and spiral slide) which will be great once complete, but no idea when these will be open. The seating areas and lounger allocation around all of the swimming pools are also ludicrously small for the site size. Don't expect to get a chair/lounger, and expect to queue for the changing cubicles which are only available in the indoor pool area. The outdoor pool had no lockers or changing area at all. While overall the site has lots of positives, it falls down on same basics (opening hours, lockers, loungers etc) which I think could be very easily remedied. The site is so enormous, it could continue to add to its facilities and in a few years may be worth another visit. However as I will shortly be tied to school holidays (daughter starts school in September), I'll probably be booking a site that is on or near a beach so crowded swimming pools won't matter so much.
"most spacious hotel of our trip!"
07/01/14 perleytraveler Fargo, North Dakota
We had a large group of students traveling, so this place was a treat - with it's "apartments" for each room assignment. Only challenge was getting across the bridge to our rooms with luggage. Breakfast was interesting as well...the lady in charge of it made a big deal out of NOT letting our group eat from a certain area...we were only to eat from the designated table of food, which was NOT as nice a spread as the other table! Very strange...but whatever. The grounds of the property were beautiful - was sad we didn't have more time to explore and enjoy the wave pool/swimming pool and other restaurants. Did load up on supplies at the little market on the property, which was convenient. Beautiful location too.

Just returned from a 10 day stay on site with a family group. Booked with canvas, problem with location of mobile homes quickly rectified by the reps. Site ideal for young children excellent kids club. Indoor and outdoor swimming, weather was fine and pools not overcrowded. Horse riding on site competitive with UK prices. Essential food stuffs available from local shop or village located down lane, able to cycle or walk. Artisan market in village every Sunday morning. Lovely holiday if happy to stay on site and take advantage of facilities.

This location was about a 4.5 hour Drive from Calais and cost about £22 in tolls (each way). Its is situated on a lovely gold course. We stopped with Canvas holidays whilst there. This was the only caravan to have a Dishwasher. The site is very clean and well equipped. Wifi is free at the bar and the visitor entrance. No problem with getting a connection in the bar. So must have a super connection. The place is very clean and well laid out. We went on the trip wire which is amazing. There are horses you can hire to walk the kids around. My children loved the holiday clubs that Canvas supplied. The indoor pool is ok unless it rains as every one goes there. The outdoor pool is great and the bar is close. There is a SPAR onsite and is the same price as a normal supermarket. It has a few english items if that is what you are after. There are two supermarkets about a 5 minute drive away (Super U and Carrefour). Onsite there is a restaurant and we ate there one night. It was well priced and had a takeaway on the side. Lots of people used the takeaway and ate outside the pub with a beer. There were boats for hire and lots more things to do. The kids loved it and thats all the matters. We managed to get a rest. If you get the good weather its an amazing place to be
"Fantastic Stay With Lifestyle Holidays"
06/22/14 Harry R Portsmouth, United Kingdom
Just returned from Domain des Ormes, with Lifestyle Holidays. It is our second time there with Lifestyle Holidays and once again they came up trumps! We travelled with my son, his wife and two young children, (2 & 4). We stayed in a Platinum, with 3 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The van was spotless and very well equipped. Lifestyles reps, Tris & Simon were first class, nothing was too much trouble. The park itself has everything a family needs. Indoor and outdoor swimming pool with slides for the kids (and adults)! Well equipped play areas for the children. All other activities come with a charge, eg Zip Wire, Boats, Monkey Climbs, Circus, Horse Riding and Golf. There are childrens clubs, but they also are chargeable. There is a small supermarket on site, a bit pricy but handy for bread etc. Larger supermarkets are just a short drive away. There are a couple of restaurants on site and a take away for pizzas, chicken etc. A bit pricy but handy. We went in June to avoid the really busy holiday period and had great weather. My son and I played golf, on one of the regions top courses, both of us were really impressed with the quality of the course. My daughter in law went for an afternoons horse trek and the circus was very impressive. (All chargeable, but you do get a discount with the golf for being a resident). All in all a great value holiday going with Lifestyle. The Domain is a wee bit pricy, but everyone had a fantastic time, so I think, well worth it.

I have stayed in Domaine des Ormes 3 times and have never been disappointed. With everything catered for from the beautiful 18 hole golf course to pony rides. Obstacle courses for all ages and abilities, fishing, weekend markets and much more. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is an amusement arcade for the little ones on site along with a bar and two restaurants. The shop on site is very well priced or if you want you are only a few minutes drive from Dol de Bretagne. I can't recommend this campsite enough for a great family holiday.
"A great family holiday!"
06/22/14 Katefrog Portsmouth, United Kingdom
We stayed in a mobile home with Al Fresco holidays, and although basic, it suited our needs. The Al Fresco staff were friendly and helpful, although during our stay, the child gate screw came loose, and although we reported it, it didn't get fixed, which was disappointing as our two-year old is very adventurous! The park itself is lovely, with plenty to do. The swimming pools are great, although the outside one is open at strange times (i.e not at all in the mornings), and the restaurant, again, only in the evenings at the moment. The shop was very well stocked, convenient, and fairly priced. There is plenty to do near to the campsite, and is excellently located for trips to Dinan, Mont St. Michel, and the local markets at Dol-de-Bretagne and Comborg. It is also about a two hour drive from Caen ferry port, so not bad at all if travelling with little ones. We would definitely stay here again, maybe with another holiday company; but overall a really lovely time was enjoyed by all!
"A brilliant family holiday venue"
06/19/14 Equibod Henfield, United Kingdom
We would suggest other organisers than Lifestyle maybe provide better customer service but that does not detract from the site's amazing location and facilities. ( Our rep did not give any information about the site's facilities - be advised that details are in reception where other reps are more than happy to tell you what's on and how to get there. In that marvellously laid-back French way, there is some flexibility in the timings! Note: maybe because it was early season the ice-cream kiosk was only open Fri/Sat/Sun IF it was sunny and only for about 4 hours. ) On a more positive note: I had never seen red squirrels before this holiday, and having a hare hoppity skipping between the caravans was incredible. My husband played golf while being watched by a herd of deer and my hour's hacking (horse not computer!) with escort was safe, fun and through beautiful woods & paths, round the lakes and golf course, and an illicit canter across a recently cut hay field. Fantastic. Then into the wave pool to ease aching muscles, moving into the tropical pool to play with our grand-daughter in the lazy river. Afterwards ambled across the mown lawns to one of the bars to relax in the sun before strolling to the caravan for a BBQ. The on site Spar shop is VERY reasonabley priced and well stocked. One of us wandered down each morning for our fresh croissants. Night time is soooo quiet! No vehicles between 11pm and 6am. No noisy people after 11pm (or they'll be evicted). Close to interesting tourist locations. Mont St Michael is a MUST. The market in Dol De Bretagne was classically French: fresh veg and meat from small-holdings, cooked meat, crepes, etc. The pork was delicious on the BBQ that evening followed by fresh cherries for dessert. It really is hard to fault this venue.
06/16/14 Emma O Wexford, Ireland
We stayed with Lifestyle holidays in a modern mobile home. It was my families first time on a holiday like this and we really enjoyed it. We were self-sufficient but had full access to the whole site. There was plenty to do with both an indoor & outdoor pool, horse riding, zip wires, crazy golf, pitch& putt and many more. There were small fees to use most amenities and facilities but still very cheap. There was something for everyone. There was an onsite shop, a bar with free wi-fi and amenities such as showers, washing machines etc. It was a great location with only 6km to Dol de Bretagne & 8km to Combourg. There was a lovely little village called St. Leonard's which was only 1km away & had a market every Sunday. It was a lovely campsite. Very clean & the staff were very helpful and spoke great English. I would highly recommend it especially to families.
