Good looking hotel inside and out. Walking distance to the major tourist sites. Staff at the reception is very competent overall but a little stiff. I also expected a better advise on the restaurants and itinerary around the area for the price you are paying.

Great rooftop restaraunt. Staff was very helpful. Internet system a little clunky but works. Valet parking car is a difficult experience. Big rooms, nice bathrooms. Some of the best meals we had were in the hotel!

Spent six nights in room 408 (fantastic view) as a suprise 15th wedding anniversary trip for my wife and I. The hotel was in a great location and had all the amenities we were looking for. The breakfast was filling and a great way to start the day. All notable sights were within walking distance (with the exception of the Vatican) and we wore ourselves […] out touring all Rome had to offer. For the Vatican, we simply hoped a bus (Route 81) that stopped right outside the hotel. For a euro we were able to ride it straight to the end of the route and be at the entrance to St. Peters square. Couldn't have been easier. Lots a great resturants within a five minute walk. Would recomend Dar Poeta across the Tiber in Travestere for some great pizza. Read more

Not only was it conveniently located to the Colleseum and ancient ruins in the city, but it was a short ride to the Vatican and other attractions of Rome. The Hotel was clean, comfortable and true to its boutique 4 Star rating. Hotel is at a busy intersection and the lower level and street front rooms can be noisy. We loved our stay in this Hotel. Great hotel in perfect location. While on a busy street as most of the hotels are it was very quiet at night with soundproof windows and shutters. I am a light sleeper and had no difficulty. Nothing but great things to say about the hotel, especially the staff. Everyone was so attentive, and helpful. The only issue I experienced was that there was no language option available on the TV - {English/any other language vs. Italian} channels were not working. Other than that is was terrific. Great location - easy walking distance to major sights and restaurants. Clean hotel, hardwood floors. TV was broken and not fixed even a day after we asked for it. Hotel is located at a major street with lot's of traffic - so don't plan on opening the window.

We spent 3 nights at the Forty-Seven. The hotel staff could not have been better. Alina helped to arrange two semi-private tours and an early departure on the day of Checkout. Marco always acknowledged us by name when we were in the lobby and was very helpful in providing information, directions, restaurant recommendations, ect. The hotel was great and only a short walk from Trastevere where we found excellent food. When they found out it was our anniversary they sent up a bottle of Prosecco. The breakfast was very nice and the staff friendly and helpful on all accounts. We would love to stay there again.

The hotel was great and the surrounding neighborhood was wonderful for walking to quaint restaurants in the Trastevere area in the evenings. Most tourist attractions are within easy walking distance with the exception of the Vatican. The only negative was the outside noise level as we were booked in Room 207 which was on the front side of the hotel […] and a busy street. Noise level was a little much but with the amount of walking and touring we did each day, we still slept. Hotel room size and bathroom was very nice. Breakfast menu didn't change from day to day but was adequate with lots of pastries, breads, meats, cheeses, juices and scrambled eggs and sausage each morning. Book taxi transportation to Airport or Train station yourself as rates are better. Read more

My husband and I just spent 2 weeks (June 2011) in Italy. Our last two nights were spent at this hotel and we would definitely not reccomend it. We had constant trouble with both the internet and television service cutting in and out. The lights kept flickering and after we discovered a cracked cord with bare wires in the bathroom, we became very concerned […] about fire. We unplugged the flickering lamps. The room was actually fairly clean, but out in the hallways and common areas of the hotel everything was dirty and seedy looking. It looked to us like it was a nice hotel once, but didn't look to be kept up very well. The view from the restaraunt on the roof was gorgeous, but the dining was expensive and like I already said everything looked dirty and seedy. We had two additional complaints, first that we thought the location was good for being close to sites such as circus maximus etc... but we couldn't find any restaraunts or shops nearby. The area did not feel safe at night, so we really felt sort of trapped by our location and stayed in our room both nights there, longing for a bottle of water. Last complaint was that the concierges were all rude without exception, their tone, and nonverbals very condescending. They were definitely NOT open to questions. To leave on a good note though, the complimentary breakfast buffet was the BEST in Italy! We actually had eggs, toast and jam for breakfast there! Read more

Service was spotty: usually had to call twice for ice, sometimes the bar tender was a no-show, tried to give me somebody else's dinner bill, screwed up dinner reservations. The prices are out the roof at the hotel restaurant: $200 for an average dinner and $140 for lunch! The room was great, and there is a hop-on hop-ff bus stop less than a block away, […] but in tourist season you may not be able to get on due to the buses being full. Great location for seeing the Coloseum and Forum, but you'll have about a 3/4 mile walk to get to any restaurants. Bring a bottle because cocktails are $21 each at the bar! Read more

There are so many things we really enjoyed about this hotel. 1. The location is about 2 blocks from the Forum and an easy walk everywhere. It's not a highly touristy place which is great because you can avoid the crowds yet be close to everything. The bus is right outside and easy to navigate for 1 euro if you don't want to walk. The 47 exceeded my expectations while in Rome. The rooms are spacious--we had a deluxe room. King size bed that was comfortable, even by American hotel standards. Clean, clean, clean. The forty seven boutique hotel is nice but expensive. The rooms were a good size with all of the modern ameities you could ask for. The staff can be intimidating in their all black ensembles were very nice and very accomadating. The price is high but its Rome and you are a very short walk away from the sights.

FortySeven was a clear favorite of other travelers before us and we decided to take their advice. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful - there was nothing they could not advise or help or fix - made our whole visit to Rome so much easier. My wife and I have been going to Rome for 20 years and have stayed in everything from 5 stars to very nice three stars. I have never had a hotel room in Rome without some issue, however minor. It always something: elevator is not working, hot water is intermittent, air conditioning is questionable, or service is lacking. Not this trip, the Fortyseven […] is great hotel! Room was large, bright, immaculate and ready when we arrived. Housekeeping was top notch, including checking in with us at around 7pm each evening to see if we required fresh towels or turn down service. Air conditioning was excellent, the bathroom was large and very well appointed with products, robes and slippers. Breakfast and room service were very well done. The staff was friendly and helpful and spoke English better than my Italian. The location is convenient and easy to find. 47 Boutique ia an excellent choice. Service at arrival and at any other time was excellent across the board. The room was definitely 5 star, clean and an excellent size. King bed was extremely comfortable. Bathroom ample size and again, very modern. Location was also excellent as we were about a 5 minute walk from the Circus Maximus and Palantine Hill […] and Capital Hill, 5 minutes from Via Del Corso, a little over 10 minutes to the Coliseum and right next to the river. We could walk across the river bridge to a couple of excellent restaurants and took a cab to Vatican City from where we did a tour and walked our way back to the hotel via several major sites. Highly recommend if you are in to a modern location, well kept, 5 star location with excellent service. Especailly for Rome, which is an expensive town, we paid a good price for a hotel with all the amenities. We would definitely stay again. Read more
