"Great hotel, OK location"
This hotel was surprisingly nice. The beds were awesome, the rooms were very clean, and the breakfast was even surprisingly complete. Service at the desk was exceptional. The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside, but is a great place to sleep. If you don't have a car, however, it's a pain to move around...you have to walk a distance to get to PATH trains for Manhattan. It's nearly impossible to get to Newark Int'l on public transit from here. There's always cabs, but it's $50 to the airport. So, I would really recommend the hotel based on how comfortable it was, but it is a bit annoying to have to walk so far to transit. It might be worth it to avoid paying Manhattan prices, of course.

"Pretty comfortable."
The Holland hotel was a great stay being that it was so close to NYC, Hoboken, and other poits of interest within Jersey City. The only negatives to this location is the wifi and cable connections within the room. The wifi signal was very weak and though the cable had a great selection I did not know which channels would work or not as service was interrupted frequently. Addtional problems were the noise level of other guests. I was positioned right across from the house cleaning team, and pretty close to the lobby entrance. I could unfortunately hear other guests and the house cleaning team talking and moving around. If i were to go hear again i would request a room far away from these entrances. But the staff was very courteous. They were able to help me find great places to eat and drink.

"Another Good Experience"
We've stayed at the Holland Hotel several times over the past few years for several reasons: it's close to PATH which takes us quickly into Manhattan, the price is much lower than staying in NYC, we feel safe at the hotel and walking to and from the PATH station, the rooms are clean and have the extra amenities we want (i.e. microwave, fridge, safe) and broader WiFi bandwidth for a small charge. The desk personnel were always friendly and personable. Our room was smallish and didn't have a couch, but we don't spend enough time there to really miss that. Breakfast consists of Danish, fruit, cereal and children's yogurt which was just fine for us, but may not be as much as some other hotels offer. Needless to say, we'll be staying there again.

Moving daughter into college in financial district of New York. -- this was a convenient location (<10 min on Path), close to a mall, Home Depot, and other shopping needs for getting child to college. The location of hotel was fine. When we checked in it was very prompt. Down fall is there is no elevator---we had to lug our suitcases up a very narrow staircase. my husband is 71 and I 65 --not to exited to have to lug the suitcases. It smelled in the hallways a bit ---The room itself was fine--

"Great hotel for us"
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was on the small side and a little dated, but we only needed a place to sleep so it suited us just fine. The free breakfast was appreciated. For the room they had to serve breakfast it was very well done. The staff stocking the breakfast buffet were very attentive and helpful. It was only a cold breakfast that you took back to your room, but it was good. Location to public transit to NYC was great, an easy walk. And coming back after 9 p.m. did not feel unsafe to walk back to the hotel from the PATH station. Overall a great stay and would definitely stay there again.

"Nice hotel for a short stay, centrally located"
We stayed 3 days while attending a function at the science museum. It was centrally located to the location and offered free parking and continental breakfast. Beware no elevators. "Convenient and clean"
I'd stay here again. Pros: helpful staff, good continental breakfast, clean room with the basic amenities, quick access by car, close to Newport Path station. Cons: not a great neighborhood. As a woman traveling alone, I wouldn't have wanted to walk to/from the Path station after dark although during the day was fine. The air conditioner was effective but very loud.

"Good hotel for the price"
Me and my girlfriend stayed at the Holland for 2 nights. The hotel itself was in a perfect location. It was right next to the mall and within walking distance to the path station. Breakfast wasn't anything special but was still good. The room wasn't bad. I would definitely recommend the Holland for anyone who didn't want to drive into the city.

This hotel is a short 10 min walk from Metro which takes you into Manhattan!! The whole place was very clean and it was great to be able to park for free!! It was quiet, of course we had the a/c unit on which drowned out the Holland tunnel traffic!! I would stay again and recommend it too!!!

"The best deal around NYC"
I took my family on their first trip to NYC and was looking for a cheap, clean place to sleep. We weren't spending much time in the room, but even if we were, the room was great. It was spacious, clean, and the beds were comfortable. The refrigerator & microwave in the room makes it great for a multi-night stay. The breakfast in the morning was ample and the pastries were pretty good. The PATH train is maybe a ten minute walk, and is right on the river with a great view of lower Manhattan. It's also an easy drive to Liberty State Park, which is an awesome view of the Statue of Liberty. I imagine we'll stay here on our next trip since it was such a great place to stay.

"I'd stay here again"
I stayed here for a few nights before switching over to the Hyatt Regency for a wedding. While the Hyatt was aesthetically nicer, I would stay here over the Hyatt if I were to find myself near NYC again. Not only is it cheaper than the Hyatt, but it has more amenities. Free parking, free wi-fi, free continental breakfast, and a computer with printer in the lobby - none of which the Hyatt had. I admit, I was hesitant about staying at the Holland given the look of the exterior, the seemingly dated interior (based on the provided photos) and reading a review about bed bugs, but there was no reason to worry. The interior looked so much better in person than the photos suggest, our room was very clean, breakfast was more substantial than I thought it would be if you're ok with cereal, fruit, croissants, muffins, and donuts (which I am!), we were close to the Path train system and Target and Staples for any last minute needs, and I had no problems with the staff at the front desk. My only complaint would be that the lobby and hallways had a bad cigarette smoke-like smell, but thankfully the rooms smelled fine.

"Convenient location"
I was pretty happy with the stay over July 4th weekend. Staff was friendly, room clean, and was only a couple blocks from the PATH train station. Sometimes it could get a little noisy facing the Holland tunnel, but only noticed when truck horns honked or occasional loud vehicles passed through.

The Holland Hotel was not only welcoming but also the perfect location. The evening staff was extremely friendly and helpful and went way beyond the extra mile. The hotel itself was just a short walk to a huge mall and the PATH train station. We took the train each day into NYC. Rooms were small but comfortable and included a fridge and microwave. We also ordered out twice from the City Diner which we recommend. It was a perfect hotel for us!

"Over night to NYC"
This was good hotel. It is clean and the staff is very helpful. The hotel is updated but don't plan on their continental breakfast to fill you. Though it's good, it's not a large selection. It's a 10-15 minute walk to the nearest PATH station and the route is safe as well. It is loacted just west of the Holland Tunnel so driving in the area is tough. Perfect place for a no thrills place to rest your head. Oh and the parking lot is secure with plenty og spaces.

"Convenient, affordable stay just outside the city"
My husband and I brought our two children on a trip to NYC and stayed at The Holland Hotel as an alternative to way more expensive options in the city. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly, and the price couldn't be beat. With only a short walk to the train station, we were able to get into the city quickly, leaving our car safely parked in the hotel's free onsite lot. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone interested in seeing NYC without the hassle and expense of staying there.

"Good budget option for NYC"
This is a great budget-option for NYC. Nice little hotel, clean, convenient location, very friendly staff. The room we were originally booked in was on the parking-lot side but it was a basement room with just one little window high up on the wall- we would have been very unhappy with that! The front desk manager offered to relocate us even before we finished checking in; after seeing the basement room, we opted for another room even though it was on the street/traffic side of the hotel. Our room was a bit noisy but not too bad. Overall our stay was great, and we'll definitely stay there again.

We liked this hotel for its convenience for a few visits to NYC attractions via the close PATH subway system.
