I stayed here for a few nights before switching over to the Hyatt Regency for a wedding. While the Hyatt was aesthetically nicer, I would stay here over the Hyatt if I were to find myself near NYC again. Not only is it cheaper than the Hyatt, but it has more amenities. Free parking, free wi-fi, free continental breakfast, and a computer with printer in the lobby - none of which the Hyatt had. I admit, I was hesitant about staying at the Holland given the look of the exterior, the seemingly dated interior (based on the provided photos) and reading a review about bed bugs, but there was no reason to worry. The interior looked so much better in person than the photos suggest, our room was very clean, breakfast was more substantial than I thought it would be if you're ok with cereal, fruit, croissants, muffins, and donuts (which I am!), we were close to the Path train system and Target and Staples for any last minute needs, and I had no problems with the staff at the front desk. My only complaint would be that the lobby and hallways had a bad cigarette smoke-like smell, but thankfully the rooms smelled fine.

I was pretty happy with the stay over July 4th weekend. Staff was friendly, room clean, and was only a couple blocks from the PATH train station. Sometimes it could get a little noisy facing the Holland tunnel, but only noticed when truck horns honked or occasional loud vehicles passed through.

The Holland Hotel was not only welcoming but also the perfect location. The evening staff was extremely friendly and helpful and went way beyond the extra mile. The hotel itself was just a short walk to a huge mall and the PATH train station. We took the train each day into NYC. Rooms were small but comfortable and included a fridge and microwave. We also ordered out twice from the City Diner which we recommend. It was a perfect hotel for us!

This was good hotel. It is clean and the staff is very helpful. The hotel is updated but don't plan on their continental breakfast to fill you. Though it's good, it's not a large selection. It's a 10-15 minute walk to the nearest PATH station and the route is safe as well. It is loacted just west of the Holland Tunnel so driving in the area is tough. Perfect place for a no thrills place to rest your head. Oh and the parking lot is secure with plenty og spaces.

My husband and I brought our two children on a trip to NYC and stayed at The Holland Hotel as an alternative to way more expensive options in the city. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly, and the price couldn't be beat. With only a short walk to the train station, we were able to get into the city quickly, leaving our car safely parked in the hotel's free onsite lot. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone interested in seeing NYC without the hassle and expense of staying there.

This hotel is an easy commute to Manhattan on the PATH train. It was our first visit to New York and we decided to stay here instead of Times Square or somewhere in Manhattan to reduce the cost of our trip. The hotel was very clean. The room was small but nice and we had no problems getting to the city. There is breakfast and coffee is available all day.

This is a great budget-option for NYC. Nice little hotel, clean, convenient location, very friendly staff. The room we were originally booked in was on the parking-lot side but it was a basement room with just one little window high up on the wall- we would have been very unhappy with that! The front desk manager offered to relocate us even before we finished checking in; after seeing the basement room, we opted for another room even though it was on the street/traffic side of the hotel. Our room was a bit noisy but not too bad. Overall our stay was great, and we'll definitely stay there again.

We liked this hotel for its convenience for a few visits to NYC attractions via the close PATH subway system. Located just outside the Holland Tunnel, it is very accessible from the NJ turnpike & has ample parking. The rooms are smallish but functional. A modern shopping mall is across the street. Only negatives: no elevator & the hefty phone deposit w/ charges even for local calls.

This hotel is clean, comfortable, and budget friendly. It is an easy 5 min walk to the path train to go to NYC. They also have a continental breakfast with delicious pastries from a local bakery. I almost forgot to mention Free parking which is hard to come by in this area... This isint the Ritz Carlton, but it is the best deal in Jersey city and a well maintained hotel with friendly staff. There are lots of nice resturants close by, if if you want a quick bite Burger King is next door.

The room was extremely clean and the beds were very comfortable. If you want quick access to lower Manhattan, this is the place to stay. Traffic directly out your window but never found it unbearable. I personally like a little "white noise" to help me get to sleep so this was perfect. The price was right - better than 1/2 of what it would have cost to stay across the river. It's not much to look at from the outside but it's not a resort. Very small lobby but the woman behind the desk was very friendly and helpful. Didn't take advantage of the breakfast bar (coffee, tea, danish, bagels, cereals, etc.) but it looked good. If you're looking for a comfortable bed in a clean hotel while you are visiting NYC, don't overlook this place. We will definitely return.

Well for starters, they do not have an elevator. None of the staff is willing to lend a helping hand with your luggage. Extremely rude and annoying. The lobby where the breakfast is served has no space whatsoever to sit or stand. To sum it up, stay only if it is the last place in Jersey city.

The hotel staff were very informative and were more than helpful in providing directions to public transportation into NYC. The Path Station that brings you into the city is only about a 10min walk, and the location at the entrance to the Holland Tunnel provides immediate access into NYC if you want to take your car. Also, Liberty park is only a 15min drive away! Great location for a great price. I definitely recommend this hotel if your planning a trip to NYC and the surrounding tourist attractions in and around jersey city.

This is a no frills hotel and slightly outdated despite recent improvements, but you should know that going in given the price is more reasonable (and free parking in the hotel lot). The room was clean and I had no complaints at all. This isn't close to being a 4 star hotel, but it a great option for NYC if you want a cheaper place to stay and don't mind taking The PATH into midtown Manhattan. This hotel is located just before the entrance to The Holland Tunnel. If you miss it then you are forced into the tunnel, it is that close.

Our stay at the Holland Hotel was just what we expected based on other reviews. Clean, convenient and friendly staff. If you're taking the PATH pls be aware that the walkway to it is not readily apparent. It runs along a concrete wall that is opposite the east parking lot. If you are advised to "follow the fence" you must look for the fence on top of the concrete wall. Once you find the wall/sidewalk just follow it (mall will appear on your right) to Washington St. Go right (south) a couple of blocks until you see the small PATH signs. Cross over to left & enter station. PATH tickets are $5/person round trip and only go uptown Manhattan as far as 33rd St. But Penn Station is a short walk from there (as is the Empire State Building).

Hotel was pretty much as described in other reviews. Biggest complaint was it was very noisy (other people in hotel and outside traffic--right next to the Holland Tunnel so traffic is crazy busy) and room was very small, esp for 4 women. Microwave and mini-fridge were helpful. Breakfast area was cramped so required taking it back to room to eat. Basic continental breakfast (coffee, muffins, croissants, rolls, oatmeal packs and fruit). It was about 15 minutes walk to PATH, which took us to NYC but had to change to NYC MTA. Guy at PATH station helpful in getting our tickets and explaining what we needed. Hotel staff nice and helpful. Rooms clean and showers hot. Walking distance to the mall.

While the Holland Hotel doesn't really impress from the outside, all of that changes once you walk in. The check in area, while small, was immaculate and inviting. Our room was spotless, spacious, and comfortable. The shower was great. We enjoyed our stay 100%. We will definitely stay there again, as our son, his wife and our first grandchild (!) live less than 2 miles from there. Also, the Path train is a short walk from the hotel. Plus, there's a convenience store nearby for drinks, snacks, etc. Last of all, the staff were friendly and helpful,

Getting there and parking was easy. Check in was easy and friendly. The location if you are visiting NY but don't want the NY price, is great. The Holland Tunnel is across the street. With that, the traffic noise is exceptional. The people coming in and out of the hotel will make my title stand out. They have a security guard on location and I didn't have any problems. The room was clean and roomy. The hot water heater pipes were a little noisy clanging every 15 minutes. The free continental breakfast was standard. What I liked is that the coffee was 24-7 in the lobby.

Would stay again & recommend, but will be better informed next time. Reviews about street/traffic noise is accurate. Room temp was hot (80) and had air freshener odor. Opening the window for fresh cool air wasn't realistic or conducive to sleeping (only opened a slit & honking cars). Requested parking lot 2nd floor room as others suggested, however we had the back corner room that was on the corner of the street. More accurate is to specify rear 2nd floor in center of building. There was also a banging sound which may have been stairwell door slamming? Unsure but awoke us every few hours. Front desk is very friendly. Continental breakfast nothing fancy, but very convenient. Coffee was very strong at 6:30am & not fresh. (They serve 24hrs). Hot water for tea, hot chocolate & instant oatmeal with milk in pitcher was convenient for those not wanting donuts, muffins, rolls/croissants. Rooms have frig & microwave, so bringing breakfast entrees is possible or even small coffee pot/coffee supplies I only regret not searching family sit down style restaurants (Outback, Applebees, etc) before arrival. (Mall & fast food nearby). The front desk recommended a "little pricey" steak restaurant a few miles away. A $34 steak came with no sides which (i.e.green beans) started at $10. $200 for dinner for 3, not including drinks was more than the hotel stay. But considering the location to NYC probably reasonable. Excellent steak & no regrets, just not what I expected & a splurge.

I enjoyed my stay at the Holland Hotel. The Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to public transportation. I enjoyed bike-riding in Hoboken and going into NYC. Coming from driving the freeways of California (well-marked in advance of choices), I had a terrible time with NJ and NY driving; it seemed to me I rarely had enough time to change lanes, there were unexpected tolls, and every road seemed to have more that one name! But maybe it was just me! The Hotel was a good retreat at the end of each day. I will go there again when I visit NYC and NJ.

When we arrived at about 11:30 on a Saturday night, the staff patiently helped us to our room. When we got there, the smell of smoke wasn't terrible, but had definitely permeated the room. What to do in a situation like this at midnight? We asked for a true non-smoking room, and they said they didn't have any others free.. Lo and behold the manager came out--yes, close to midnight. She went to our room, smelled the problem clearly, and offered to take care of it within only about a half-hour/hour. Now, we're a bit of night owls and had friends to chill with during this time-- when we were going back to the room, she was already walking out to take it out of the room. I tell you-- I don't see many managers who would show this much care so late at night-- not only fixing our problem, but being awake and caring TO fix the problem. This may seem like a common hotel, but the staff is pushed to their best by a manager who seems to care about her clientele.

I recomend this hotel, it is near the PATH, the mall and other facilities. In a few minutes you can be in Manhattan. The price was excellent. The breakfast was god and also you can have coffee all day. Is a secure area for walk to and from the PATH and the view of Manhattan is the best.

Very pleasantly surprised by the quality and value offered by this hotel. The dedication and honest effort of staff and management are evident in all aspects. A couple of cracked windows need to be fixed to banish evidence of the less than charming immediate environs, but the location itself couldn't be more convenient to New York, without having to deal with the NYC hassle and prices. Great job! Very pleased.

The location is literally at the entrance to the Holland Tunnel. Noise may be an issue for you. Busy section. It's supposed to be walking distance to the PATH station but I felt like driving into the city would be easier. The room was pretty clean except for the desk chair...kind of grody. Bed was a bit lumpy. No iron or ironing board. Breakfast is continental. Staff is friendly. Not a fancy place but clean and decent location.
