Good value in a perfect location. I stayed in a small suite with my three children. It was clean, comfortable, well equiped and had a fantatsic balcony. The hotel has a superb swimming pool, nice facilities and could not be better located. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. One gripe pertains to a very late check-in time (5pm), but the kids […] used the pool beforehand and we managed. I'd definitely go back again and have no reservations in recommending this hotel. We loved the location. The room (B1) was great. Breakfast was delicious. However, we had a eak in the bathroom that did nort get fixed until one day before departure. Beware, you have to fight for your free bicycle. We were told that they would only provide them if they are available. The whole garage is full of bikes that they would much rather rent […] them. Also wireless internet is only there if available. And when we got there it was broken. We told them that we would have to leave if there was no internet acces and found out that it had been down for 2 days. They did bring in a technician and had it fixed with in 4 hours. The hotel was fantastic - once we found it. We took the train (we bought T-10 cards) to Sitges from Barcelona and then took a ~8-10 euro taxi to the hotel from the train station. Sitges is 30km from Barcelona so be prepared for a more docile and restful experience, but also for a long trip if you plan to go visit Barcelona. I would definitely stay […] there again. Read more

We stayed here prior to taking a cruise from Barcelona. It was easy to get to from the airport. Once you leave baggage claim, go to the "bus level" (down) and then cross the street. Look for the MON Bus. It leaves approximately every 30 mins. and cost 3.05 Euro pp. It will drop you in downtown Sitges. From there you can take the city bus (1.45 Euro […] pp) and it will drop you with 100 feet of the hotel or grab a taxi. The hotel is right on the beach promenade, but at the end where it is quiet and surrounded by lovely old homes. Our studio room was great. It was very spacious with a separate foyer where the closet and in room safe were - also entry to the modern marble bath. We had a nice efficiency kitchen (fully equipped) and also had a clothes washer. The room had a good bed, a credenza with a flat screen TV, 2 comfy armchairs and a breakfast bar for eating. Our balcony faced the pool. This got a bit noisy when the kids were in it. We did not eat in the restaurants. Breakfast was 12 Euro extra pp. The hotel did, however have a mini supermarket downstairs, and that was very handi to buy wine, water, bread etc. They also had bicycles available and it was fun to ride into town or just along the beach promenade. A cab ride to Barcelona will cost around 80 Euro, so it pays to take the bus or train. Read more

This place was nice hotel, but due to location, we’d probably select a different hotel next time. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I wanted a late night snack from a local restaurant that offered delivery service into the hotel, and the front desk placed the order for me to help with the local language translation. The hotel has several restaurants […] (we ate at one and enjoyed the food) and ample space for lounging. Underground parking for hotel guests (for a fee). The rooms are very large and include kitchenette (though you have to wash your own dishes, or they charge you extra). The free wireless internet was strong; there were plenty of electrical outlets. The bathroom had plenty of good light. The TV was clear, but was located pretty far away from the bed (made the image somewhat small to see while laying in bed). Our only complaint about the facility was the safe box is too small (only fits my wife’s smaller 13” computer, but not my 15” laptop). I had to leave my laptop and other valuables with the front desk. The reason we’d likely select a different hotel next time is that this place is on the farthest south end of the beach. It’s over a mile away from the city center. We walked to the city center and it was an enjoyable walk on a nice day, but that’s not convenient when you want to return to the city for restaurants or shopping. My husband and I stayed at this resort for four nights in the beginning of July. The weather was awesome and so was the beach. Bikes were provided so it made for an easy trip in to town. We walked up and down the promenade many different times enjoying the sights. The mini market located on site at the hotel was filled with many food/drink items for […] reasonable prices. Our apartment was spacious- complete with living room, kitchenette, large bathroom and beautiful terrace over looking pool and sea. It was very clean and well maintained. Our only reservation was that it seemed other folks had smoked in the unit and we wanted a non smoking facility. Also, wifi existed in the common area and you needed a cable to connect to internet in your room. The connection was weak sometimes. This did not deter us from having a great time and cheering like crazy for Espana in the World Cup. Read more

We were looking for a nice hotel to stay for one night in the Barcelona area. We were en route home from the Canary Islands and had to catch an early flight the next morning. The hotel's website implied you could stay in the lovely town of Sitges with easy access to the airport. The hotel has a worn, tired feel to it. The pictures on the web site do […] show you what the rooms look like, but they don't really give you an appreciation of the thrown-together, dated feel of the accommodations. The website gives the impression that the hotel is conveniently located near the airport. That is not the case at all. The taxi ride cost us over 60 Euros each way. The website also says that the hotel offers a shuttle service - a complete fabrication. The staff at the front desk smirked and said taxi is the only option. When we asked about an alternative room to the first one we were offered, the front desk staff became terse and rude. Food in the restaurant was acceptable and the server was attentive and polite. She responded quickly, but her job was made easy by the fact that we were the only people in the restaurant on a Friday night! Staying at this place put a downer on what was otherwise a wonderful trip. There are lots of other hotels in the Barcelona area. Take a pass on this one. Read more

This is a very nice well managed hotel at the end of the promenade in a (usually) very quiet and upmarket residential area. There is a beach club a short distance away which you can hear but it wasn't on very often. Apartments are spacious with great views. I love the sound of the surf from our sun drenched balcony, the lovely breakfast buffet, and the quiet. The hotel is at the end of the beachfront road, which means if you want to be at the heart of the action, you need to walk towards town. My only comment would be that the pool area is quite small and when there are a lot of children around it gets very noisy. My husband & I chose Sunway Playa as the accommodation for our trip to Barcelona from Sept. 26-Oct. 11, 2011 because we wanted to stay in a nice beach town out of the city. We were thrilled the hotel provided us with a comfortable studio with a balcony overlooking the sea. The studio was equipped with an almost separate bedroom, kitchenette and washing […] machine so we were able to make meals and wash clothes--Mercadona supermarket is near the train station and the hotel has a minimarket. The hotel is 2 km from central Sitges but we used the free bikes supplied by the hotel and a local bus that stops nearby for transport. It was also lovely to walk on the wide seafront promenade from the hotel into town. There's convenient train service from Sitges to Barcelona and we used the Mon-Bus service for the 30-minute trip to and from the airport. The hotel staff was always pleasant and helpful. We appreciated that they could provide service to us in English. It was summer weather during the entire visit. The hotel provided towels when we used their swimming pools to relax after sightseeing. The hotel has 3 restaurants. We enjoyed a buffet breakfast at Al Capone's and several meals at Vento's seaside terrace. We loved the ambience of the local restaurants in Sitges too. We were so pleased with the Sunway Playa & Sitges that we spent more days there than in Barcelona! We may return next year. Read more

For the third time we have visited Sitges and Barcelona, May and September have been our dates for holidays, less people, less sun but still very very warm. We find travel easy here, trains - metro excellent and also the buses. Monserrat was a great trip, if a bit tiring, but would recommend - take a day, wear good walking shoes and be prepared for […] an exciting day - if you don't mind heights. We can thoroughly recommend this area for all ages, the Spanish are great with children and are very attentive. If you want good Tapas this is the place to go. We are already planning a return visit - with Expedia of course. No need for lots of clothes, sensible shoes a must if you go sight seeing, no need to dress up unless you want to and, of course, you can eat at any time of the day or night. A pleasant and above average hotel, but a touch too far from the town centre. A pleasant cycle ride (supplied by hotel) or walk along the promenade but not easy to get a taxi at night. Overall friendly, quiet and comfortable hotel. Would stay again.

Perfect location and was surprised (pleasantly) to have a small kitchen with washer (though the washer, and especially the microwave, take a bit of work to figure out). The staff are welcoming and the bikes they have for use are in good shape...we used every day and definitely they are a big plus. The furnishings are dated, and the pool is disappointing […] (being within the courtyard, so there is no view, and the area around the pool is very unkempt and looks like it should be rebuilt or replaced with gardens or something. There is a grocery market in the basement (fresh fruit, cheeses, bread, liquor and soft drinks, sundries, and beach umbrellas free for hotel use). Overall, really convenient, great location, comfortable, so we 'd definitely stay there. And as for the pool, the ocean is so fantastic that we couldn't really have cared less. My only issue was discovering a few hairs that were in the bathroom from a previous person (or room cleaners) and no one replaced two broken lightbulbs in the room despite having taken note of them. We booked 2 rooms (2 adults & 2 children 12 & 17). Hotel was okay & quite simply styled, expectant for Spanish 4*. On checking in, they gave us rooms on different floors with double beds and couldn't change us as they were full. It was to a degree our fault as my husband didn't check with them. Anyhow they knew the ages of the children. After a bit […] of complaining they let us have a Z bed (still not great as daughter is 5'5") to share with us and my son had other room. Rooms terrible - we had 4ft bed base with 4'6" mattress, hard as rock and obviously hanging over the base! Air con was so noisy we turned it off, then too hot - fridge noisy, had to turn that off too. Also all floors in hotel are tiled & the rooms have heavy furniture that people like moving alot, especially late at night & very early in the morning - consequently we had repeated scraping noises from above or either side of us! We have never been so glad to get home to a good nights sleep as we didn't sleep one full night the whole of our stay!! Staff fine & restaurants okay. Pool area was well tended (except Thursday) so is very safe for people with young children. Sitges is a lovely place - good choice of restaurants & nice shops. Quite a walk to the town, which we knew, but not ideal when hot. There's a trolley bus operating in the summer, but unpredictable & expensive (1.70 euro each way). Such a shame about this hotel as if they put in a little more effort with the rooms, it could be a great place to stay. Read more

I wanted a hotel that was good for kids and close to the beach and I couldn't of hoped for a better result. There are two good sized pools though both are deep and my 6 year old needed arm bands as he couldn't touch the bottom anywhere in the pool. There is a life guard who is very helpful though has v. little english and gives the kids free swimming […] lessons. There is an excellent games room with a pool table, football table (both cost) and a table tennis table. The room we had was fantastic with the most amazing sea view (worth the extra), and even though it is a good walk into central Sitges there is a regular bus service and a tourist bus that goes along the front. If you want a beautiful place to stay and a little bit away from the noise of Sitges this is the place for you - fantastic, and want to go back! The hotel is situated at the end of the promenade very close to a selection of sandy beaches. It has 2 good pools and free bikes available for travelling into town centre althogh there was a shortage of kids bikes for first 3 days we were there. This was an excellent hotel. Our apartment was beautiful- immaculately clean, and with everything we needed for our stay. The hotel is quite far from the centre (as far as you get on the beachfront to the south) but this was not a problem for us, as the hotel deal included bikes, which I definitely recommend. The seafront boulevard is flat and easy […] to cycle, even if you're not a strong cyclist. A very pleasant beach was a few minutes walk away, and the minimarket in the hotel basement had lots of useful provisions. A little more expensive than a supermarket, but not badly so. I'd read some reviews of rude service at tripadvisor. I think the hotel may have taken these seriously, as the attitude of the staff was extremely helpful and polite at all times. We never ate in the restaurants (preferring breakfast on our spacious balcony with nice views over the sea and golf course.) It was quite expensive compared to what we would usually pay, but we feel we got excellent value for every euro. We would certainly stay here again, and recommend it to others without hesitation. We felt we really got what we paid for! There is a nightclub half a mile away from the hotel on the beachfront. On a couple of nights, we could hear this very loudly on our balcony, but when we closed the doors and retired to the sleeping area (a/c worked excellently) we couldn't hear it at all- this was very impressive indeed! This is our SIXTH summer season to stay at Playa Golf. We love it because we rent an apartment there that has a working kitchen. This allows us to make dinner in the evening (if we wish) or prepare breakfast and coffee whilst sitting on our balcony overlooking the med. Overall the hotel is very clean and comfortable. Two great swimming pools (that can […] at times become excessively like children's adventure grounds), great views of the med and in general a very quiet location. The location is quite far from the centre of Sitges - approx 30 minutes walking at a fast pace. The Sitges bus that stops outside of the hotel - essentially a golf buggy, pulling a number of trailers. Single bus fare is expensive for the short duration and there is no discount for children. It also stops running between 1.30pm and 5pm, which can be a nightmare if you're facing the walk back to the hotel in the blazing heat. A better alternative is to hire Playa Golf bicycles. These offer so much freedom and make the trips to and from the town so much more pleasurable. This is the first year the hotel offered wifi. The quality is questionable. For half of our two week stay we had a limited service. Flat screen TVs are in all rooms but the choice of TV channels cater for Spanish, German and French guests, and not English speaking. Rooms were meticulously cleaned and bed linen was changed daily. Biggest letdown - once again - was the quality of the beds. Fine for a few nights, but coming up to 2 weeks you feel your back will never regain its posture due to the very uncomfortable mattresses. Pillows are also sparse and overly soft. The hotel tends to fill up at weekends with at least 2 weddings taking place. These weddings do not have any effect on your stay e.g. noise etc. but every Saturday night there also seems to be a wedding reception in the golf club, next door to the hotel. On both Saturdays there, this meant LOUD music thumping into our room until 5am. No point trying to sleep on these night Read more

A few yards along the beach is sandy and was packed at the weekend. Only problem we found was the sound proofing in rooms was inadequate so, being a light sleeper, I didn't sleep that well.
