Loved the warm waffles that were served at breakfast time. That's right, there was a gentleman on site making waffles and making sure that there was enough food for everyone. Most other hotels let the guests DIY and that tends to leave a mess.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Better than expected"
We booked our room expecting to get what we paid for....we received excellent service from friendly staff. The rooms are older and there could be better noise protection. We will stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for the price."
We greatly appreciated the continental breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not what I expected."
I was disappointed. I clearly asked for a first floor room, but, I was given a second floor room instead. I heard loud tenants during both nights of my stay. Finally, the toilet seat in our bathroom had a dark black color around the inner ring of the toilet seat!! That means the toilet seat paint is worn down to the wood and it is discolored because […] of bacteria and moisture! Not a good stay! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"convenient location, clean rooms"
The rooms were clean, had a microwave/refrigerator, convenient location and pleasant staff. My room faced South Carson Street so the traffic noise was noticeable. There was coffee/hot water available in the front office area but not in the rooms. Overall, it was satisfactory for the rate charged,Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We arrive on a Friday, check in the needy day we went to an event got back around 6pm our room wasn't service, no clean towels the beds weren't made went to talk to the front desk clerk they send maids to clean the room and fresh towels, the wifi did not work at all. The tv was outdated.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is right in the heart of Carson City which is a clean, quiet, western style themed city. lovely!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Quick checkin from a very nice lady. Gave us a coupon for the awesome bbq restaurant almost next door. Hotel is older but it was clean and the wifi was good, it's better near the center of the building.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
No problems at all. It is nice to check in and out knowing everything is taken care. I do wish they had a handicap room with two beds.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Carson City Plaza hotel"
Nice hotel, good location, decent rates. If you stay there make sure to check-out Reds BBQ great food staff, and home of 101 beers....nuff said!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Conference Center Bridge Tournament"
Hotel convenient location-easy to walk to Conference Center. Economical rate for group, plenty of parking, and included breakfast with hustling attendant, John, were pluses.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel was nice for the price, The complimentary breakfast was just ok no bacon and just hard boiled eggs waffles were cold. coffee was awful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"an average motel"
Motel 6 is about the same quality and cheaper. At this price you get better quality at Gold Dust West. This place is very outdated with old TVs and wear on the building. I found a used towel behind the door in the bathroom. The toilet clogged and shouldn't have in a public restroom. The shower faucet needs to be De-calcified. The light above the sink […] wouldn't turn on. The staff was friendly and helpful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I "lived" at the Plaza when first relocating to Carson City in 2000. The staff was so accommodating to me then and I had such a wonderful experience, that I chose to return this time for a quick family visit. The only suggestion I have is that I think the hotel rooms need more lighting. Staff is wonderful, continental breakfast is great and location […] is perfect. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel didn't have room service when needed... Two pillows were without pillow casesGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very Nice Hotel, Spacious, Friendly Staff"
This is an incredibly large place with a lot of ammenities. Staff was friendly and the rooms were nicely appointed. Plenty of outlets for electronics and beds were very comfortable. You receive discounts for the bar (2 for one drinks) and for breakfast in the morning. Highly recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Stay for the location, not the WiFi service"
The facility is very dated, but well maintained. WiFi service was extremely sporadic - frequently dropping connection. It was unreliable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Above expectation.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"had a golf package"
The hotel was nice but a little worn. It was clean and I enjoyed the golfing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"No coffee in the room"
The bed was uncomfortable. There was no coffee in the room. It was a long way down to the toilet. When I got there I got part of my parts wet. My advise don't get old! Parking was not good for the number of rooms in the back complex. I had to park around the corner.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great quality, great price"
We only stayed one night but we thought the room was GREAT for the amount we paid. It was big enough to spread out to watch TV and spend time on the computer. We didn't do any sight seeing but we did do some walking. The full-size refrigerator was an unexpected surprise, even though we didn't need it. LOVED the painted wall decor! Both front desk employees […] were extremely nice and helpful. Would definitely stay again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to Lake Tahoe"
Overall a pretty clean rooms, friendly service people. But a bit noisy at night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice place to stay"
This is an older hotel right near downtown. It is clean but could use some updating; linens were a bit older and the TV was very small with many channels that presented only snow. But the room was well cared for and comfortable, except for the two chairs which were so stained that we didn't even sit on them. Breakfast was good but we thought they could […] have included fruit and some lowfat dairy choices. Would consider staying here again if traveling through Carson City. "Spacious hotel room, perfect for families."
Great size suite with full kitchen and dining table. Additional living/family area with small couch, chair, coffee table and TV. Private bedroom with a second TV, closet and air conditioner. Spacious bathroom with lots of counter space and double sinks.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice location but hotel was just okay."
Loved the downtown location, walked to everything including the Farmer's Market, however the lack of a coffeepot in the room, the old tube TV that whined and an uncomfortable bed will probably have us looking for a different hotel next time. I definitely want to acknowledge the staff ... they were very pleasant and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"We were very comfortable in the Plaza."
Comfortable, clean and the staff was great. If we ever return to Carson City we will definitely stay at the Plaza,Genuine Expedia guest review
The Plaza is like our second home. We love being checked on by Janet. She's kind and makes you feel welcome! !Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"might as well have stayed on a couch"
The hotel lobby was very nice. The hotel and the room was very clean. However, the rooms have not been updated in years. Our beds were flat, hard and uncomfortable. The sheets and blankets were so old, they were rough. There was no coffee pot or even an ironing board. Not that it really matters, but the TV was an old tube 27 in. When checking in the […] front desk asked how many of us there would be...I said,"3" The woman behind the desk said," then let me get you another towel. There was someone else in the lobby asking for some extra towels and they made her go up to her room to bring down that ones that were already used. There was a man asking for an extra blanket and they had to check in the back to see if they had one. We made sure that we were only there when it was time to go to sleep. I might as well have stayed on a friends couch. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very good location, large rooms, clean, good breakfast. Attendant makes your waffles! Large covered entry where hotel management allowed me to park my motorcycle, provide rags if I wanted to clean my bike. I will definitely add this hotel to my favorites. Priced very reasonable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good place to stay"
Great location, literally hundreds of restaurants nearby. We stayed here for our Lake Tahoe vacation and it is much easier to drive to either South Lake Tahoe or the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe from here. The room was nice and comfortable, but the beds weren't very clean. Breakfast was OK.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great older property in Carson City"
If you are looking for a reasonable priced decent nights lodging including a satisfactory complimentary breakfast in the downtown area of Carson City this is your place. This older property is well maintained, and clean, but needs to be brought into the current market. On the other hand upper management needs to do a complete walk through; rooms are […] in good order just out dated, sheets very wrinkled and yellowing from poor laundering, bed spreads (or better yet throws across the food of beds) and dust ruffle’s are from 1970’s, towels thin and of a cheaper variety to start with and most of all carpet was in need of a upgrade or at least a good shampoo. Upgrading the bedding and towels and a better grade of complementary shampoo and bath bars, along with a coffee service in the rooms would go a long way in up scaling the property. "Last minute stay"
Came in to Carson City as hotels in Lake Tahoe were booked solid. Rooms have a kitchen even though we didn't use it. Staff was friendly. Lots of places to eat and it's not far from the capital building. Overall we had a pleasant experience. I would stay here again when next in Carson City.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Carson City Plaza Hotel and Event Center Dear Anonymous on Expedia, So pleased your experience was a pleasant one, and yes Please come again, Thank you!
"OK stay. No problems."
Staff treated us well. Had to ask for more towels because they only leave 2, even when you are charged extra for additional guest. But almost all do this.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Carson City Plaza Hotel and Event Center Dear Minnesota traveler, Our rack rates quote a double occupancy rate, and a reasonable $5.00 for each additional person with a complimentary continental breakfast.. I apologize for the oversight if you were not given the proper amount of linens, our 24 hour staff hopefully resolved this issue promptly for you. Please come again when in the Carson City area! Thank you for your patronage.
This is an older motel, but the breakfast and service were good. Be sure to eat at Red's, just a couple of blocks away!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A nice stop-over in Carson City."
We needed a one-night stay before our vacation location in Tahoe was ready for us (three couples, including 2 children). Reservations were easy to make. The hotel was clean and everything was in working order. Our room was spacious - I've had apartments that were smaller. Staff did a great job of checking us in as late arrivals. They gave great directions […] to the items we wanted to see in Carson City. There were only two negatives. The parking lot was inadequate. We parked on a side street. The hotel bills itself as a "convention center hotel." They should have parking for the guests as well as people using the hotel's meeting rooms. In addition to too few spaces, the entrance to the parking lot is difficult to navigate. It is narrow and has a tiny divider to separate incoming and outgoing vehicles. We were okay with our mid-size car, but our other two couples an larger vehicles. If anyone is parked street-side and is the least bit close to the driveway entrance, it is a real pain!. It would be better to have that lane one way in and the other lane one way out. The other issue we had was with the free breakfast. Cold hard waffles are not my breakfast of choice. The alternatives were cold cereal, instant oatmeal, hard-cooked eggs and English muffins. Skip the waffles and give us a selection of fruit and pastries. We would have been happier. Breakfast is so so.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We've been staying at this hotel for a number of years because of its central location and their home-town feel. Unfortunately, the placve needs a deep cleaning and carpet re-do. The staff is still very old school and unmotivated to go out of their way to please... a trait leaders in the industry are perfecting!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good rate, mediocre hotel."
Front desk staff was good. Cleaning staff constantly shorted us towels. Room could accommodate 4, we had 3, they left us 2 towels every day. Had to ask for another towel every day of our 6 day stay. Carpet turned our feet black, which easily came off in the tub but left awful black footprints in tub.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very uncomfortable beds."

"First time in Carson City"
We arrived early, after our 12 hour drive, and we were allowed to check in early. As always we first check for "critters" and none were to be found. The friendly staff provided information on local and regional events, gave directions to local points of interest and provided brochures and printed maps. The in-room refrigerator and microwave worked well. […] The air conditioner was so cold that we had to turn it down. It ran quietly and flawlessly for our entire stay. The included breakfast offered coffee, juice, milk, waffles, cereal, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, and English muffins with butter, jelly, and syrup available. Excellent. A couple of minor "bumps." The "elephant" in the room above us "pranced" around his room till all hours, the in-room alarm clock did not work and the bathroom sink faucet was hooked up backwards. The cold water was hot, and the hot was cold. All-in-all it was a clean, comfortable, inexpensive room with a friendly staff, and a good location. I would not hesitate to stay there again. I would recommend it to anyone going to the Carson City area, or as an alternate to South Lake Tahoe hotels, which are only 18 miles away. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Good location (halfway between Reno and Tahoe) , clean rooms, good staff and service and excellent breakfast, would highly ercommend this hotel to anyone travelling in this area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
we were pleasantly surprised with the size of the room and the accommodations within. It wasn't a high end luxury hotel, but it more then fit our needs I've just a place to kick back relax and get some sleep. "Very satisfied with hotel"
The place is quiet and the bed comfortable, the staff was very nice. I got up too late for the continental breakfasts, but the coffee was good. The only problem was the sign out front. We were looking a sign saying "Carson City Plaza Hotel" and the sign only says "Plaza Hotel". We drove past it twice before I called them to find out exactly where they […] were located. "Carson City. Beautiful Capitol area."
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Sign outside was deceiving and there was another property across the street, so it was confusing at first. No pool. It's an older property, but for the money, a decent value. Felt safe traveling solo. Enjoyed olld town restaurants within walking distance - especially the ones across from t! Sat out on patio of the […] restaurant facing the "park" area and enjoyed the scenery. Trees and flowers everywhere. Friendly town. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
