The St George Hotel - Darlington

We wanted to stay at Durham Tees Valley airport for one night before a trip and the pricing of this was excellent, for B&B. The hotel is dated and worn around the edges, signs of age in the bathroom for example - never going to win any awards, but it was very quiet, comfortable, warm and we had a good night's sleep before our trip. Breakfast was good, […] great value for money, but again, not going to win any prizes for amazing choice - it was just what we needed, nothing more. The staff are lovely, very helpful and cheerful. For what we paid it was great, I will stay again, but it is just a place to rest your head at the end of the day, don't think it's going to be a 5* experience for what you pay! Read more

Hotel is located next to airport but when we stayed mid-week we heard no flights in the evening. Rooms are comfortable ease of access is good and there is ample parking but if you need anything other than the hotel there is nothing on site. Had to change rooms due to running water in walls. Colleague had to change rooms due to no hot water. Breakfast abysmal. Hotel feels musty and run down. Bed sheets tired and stained.

The only fault was that i couldnt work out the shower it was either burning hot or ice cold, i ended up getting a bath (which wasnt a bad thing) and pillows a bit hard. Overall pleasant stay

The hotel location was not that important to me for this particular trip, but I was not impressed with the cleanliness of the room, bathroom was moldy, wallpaper peeling in the main room and carpet was not hovered. As I am, a regular traveler and I frequently visit the area I therefore decided not to return to this hotel in the near future.

very good, staff efficient and tidy, the receptionist was extremly helpful and sorted out the booking problem without any hesitation, breakfast was superb, didn't eat the night before but others informed me they were very good

Okay if you want a cheap stay but this hotel could do with a makeover as decor is very tired looking.Also the bar menu is a bit limited for choice if you are staying more than one night. But they do have free wi-fi now which they did not when I stayed here last year.Just need to bring the rest of the hotel up to date now.

Quiet and convenient location, reasonably comfortable and mostly clean room and en suite bathroom. The hotel is looking tired in places especially walls and carpets but it is ok if you are not expecting luxury. The breakfast was very good

The hotel was good value considering it included full English breakfast. It is of 'traditional' style, our room was of a reasonable size and was well presented, if with basic decor. It had a large screen TV, but do not think the radio worked. We had to ask for a second pack of biscuits but received without problem. clean tidy and reasonable cost, stayed here because i had a function next door. The hotel has charm and is different from the usual legoland. But it does need to be modernised and also if it's living on the RAF history then a bit more love of the history would be good. Staff good and always happy, rooms dated but clean, breakfast typical buffet.

The St George hotel is very tired and out dated. My room was old fashioned and the bathroom wall tiles were lifting at the corners with mould travelling up the wall. The shower now thats a classic, the water temperature can't be regulated either too hot or stone cold. The shower head trickles water through at a very slow pressure and therefore my usual […] shower routine took nearly half an hour. A nice change from the run of the mill hotels up and down the country, the St George is unique and nicely laid out. My twin room had plenty of space, and was very comfortable. Perhaps the most surprising thing was that it was very quiet - you wouldn't think it was situated next to an airport!
