I was up on 15 keeping traffic noise low! Valet parking and resort fees are getting expensive, after 5 years of only staying here for business, I am considering other hotels for that reasonGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We stay at Aqua hotels all the time. Luana is the best.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Went here for my birthday weekend and was really happy that they honored my request to be put on the top floor. The amenities are good and so is the service but valet parking is a ripoff!! I guess it's just the touristy side of Honolulu since it's in Waikiki. Otherwise, HIGHLY recommend this hotel!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great staff, great location, great service!"
I chose the Luana Waikiki because it was reasonably priced and it was in walking distance from the conference that I was attending. The front desk staff (Ebony, Jordan, & Elton) was very helpful, pleasant, and professional. Their shuttle service helped me get around to other places in Waikiki. I would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Could have been better"
The cost for the hotel was high for the level of the hotel. It was expensive for what I would call an average hotel. It was the holiday season so I know the increase the cost because they can but it was still too high for this property. We had to change rooms as our first room had ants in the kitchen and on the wall. The houseman said he would handle […] it in the morning but we were not going to sleep there and wait until the morning. They should have offered to move us immediately instead of my having to ask to be moved. They also should have discounted our stay due to this problem. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perplexed by the high ratings"
Both my partner & I are dumbfounded as to how this hotel has a 4.2 rating and is the #11 hotel in Honolulu. Yes it's in Waikiki & we were there In high season, so the high price was to be expected but we assumed the high ratings meant it would be an above average hotel. We were wrong. It had musty hallways, was located beside a gas station, the bed […] had scratchy sheets, the pillows were lumpy and the hotel made me feel like I'd been transported back to 1979. I know that might sound harsh but I think we have reasonable expectations. My partner is a pilot and stays in hotels about 14 days a month and we've also travelled quite extensively, staying in everything from hostels to 5 star hotels so have a good idea of what to expect when booking. This hotel was not what we expected. The fact that on top of the hotel rate, you'll pay extra taxes and resort fees when you check out made it even worse. I'd say only go here if you get a great deal. And don't be fooled by the pictures online - it's not as nice in person. Also not sure why they call it a boutique hotel, as it didn't feel boutiquey (unless that means dated) so definitely do not come with expectations of that. One thing I will say is that the staff at the hotel were very helpful but that's about it. That said in general everyone involved in tourism in Hawaii is nice so I can't say that this was unexpected. "Great Waikiki location!"
Wanted to stay in Waikiki close to the beach and walkable to the restaurants and amenities. Excellent location will stay there again most definitely! Near the Trump hotel but much more affordable yet a very nice hotel to stay. Traffic is congested throughout the city so walking to great places is a real plus. Quiet and upscale area!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent hotel at an excellent price!"
We were staying at the Disney resort Aulani but had some complication that weren't being resolved. After the second night we decided to look for another hotel. "Affordable, Nice Hotel in Waikiki"
This hotel is decent for the price. Location is good since it's right downtown and short walking distance to beach and shopping areas. The beds and pillows were nice and fluffy. Staff was generally nice. We had a nice little lanai for great people watching. Loved that we had a mini kitchen area. The only downside was the blackout curtain had little […] tiny holes throughout it so that light peeked into the room in the morning. Other than that, it's an affordable, nice spot in Waikiki. "Good price, good hotel."
For the price, I can't complain. It is not a luxury hotel nor is it new looking, but for the price it is very good. The rooms are a good size. There are lots of storage space, large closet, lots of drawers. There is also a kitchenette (minus microwave), that also has lots of cabinets. I got a city room view and there was a tiny balcony. The location […] works for me. It is halfway between Waikiki and Ala Moana Center. Overall I am satisfied with my stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Local holiday weekend - wonderfully relaxing"
Took a long Thanksgiving weekend as a "stay cation" in Waikiki. Never stayed at this hotel before (I live in Hawaii) but the photos on hotels.com made it look great for a long weekend - with well-equipped kitchens, great amenities on property, and more. SAVED A LOT OF $$ by re-checking hotels.com as the day of my check-in grew nearer - the per-day rate […] dropped significantly a couple days before I was supposed to arrive, and when I called hotels.com customer service about it, they offered me their "low price match guarantee" and my original rate was dropped to match what was being advertised just a few days before I checked in (a LOT cheaper than what I started with). Another big tip: if staying at this hotel, insist on a room with at least a partial ocean view - it is the mirrored view that a famous 5-star hotel owned by a man with a reality tv show (who "fires people") in Waikiki, for hundreds less nightly. The rooms are quiet, the walls are thick, the views are wonderful, the decor is lovely, the kitchens in the rooms (mine was a studio suite) are very well-stocked, and I am definitely coming back again. I spent a long weekend of 4 wonderful nights here - will definitely come back! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"An awesome little hotel"
We wanted a bed closish to the beaches without breaking the piggy bank and this place delivered! Luana is about 10 minutes walk north east of Kahanamoku Beach and bordering the pretty Fort DeRussy Beach Park. The facilities at the hotel were spacious and clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. Protea cafe just off the lobby is well worth a stop […] or three for breakfast also. "Definitely Give This Place a Try!"
Aside from the scheduled all-day power outage the day after we arrived, our stay here was great! We didn't use the pool, mostly because it was on the opposite side of the building from the sun (except maybe in the late afternoon) but everything did appear to be pretty well taken care of. There is a work out room, BBQs, a tiny little cafe near the lobby […] (where you can get a $5 per day credit if you forgo room service...aka GO GREEN program) and an ABC store basically across the street. The shopping area is only a couple blocks away as well a yummy breakfast place called Eggs-n-Things. The beach is a short walk (about 10 minutes) through Fort DeRussy with lots of beautiful greenery. All interactions with staff were pleasant and they even kept our bags for us free of charge on the last day of our stay while we took a tour of the big island that we set up through the Expedia concierge (Matt?) in the lobby, who was also super friendly and helpful. They provided free coffee in the lobby in the morning and fruit-infused ice water in the afternoon. There did always seem to be a police officer in the gas station parking lot right next door to the hotel so don't jaywalk to the ABC store (apparently this is $130 ticket here....don't ask how I know this :) and it wasn't as fancy as some of the other hotels in the area....but it was still perfect for our needs and I would recommend it to family and friends in the future. "Think Twice Before You Book"
There is a little bit of hesitancy but the truth has to be told. This is the first time that I had to write such a review but I am doing this for those who are looking to book one room with two queen size beds. It was not the staff fault as they could not help you. I find them generally helpful and good. If you are thinking of having two queen beds […] when you booked the rooms, you better think twice as it might turned out to be (one queen bed and one sofa pulled out queen!) I was informed that there are only five rooms that have two queens. I have to deal with the outrage that comes from my party of fourteen! On top of that you are charge an additional $15 dollars a day for use of facilities even if you are not using it! And no breakfast... I was fuming mad when I was told of the charges. My friends also told me that they found roaches in the room... One of them was given a breakfast voucher to shut her mouth. For your information, the phone in her room was also not working... It was bad. For those of you looking for a great place to stay, pay a little more and be next to Waikiki in another hotel. What I thought was a saving, I ended up paying more. I was ok with it but my friends wasn't, which is not good. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

My experience staying at Luana Waikiki was wonderful. The employees always made sure that we were comfortable on our trip. "Mixed feelings, will recommend with explanation"
I liked this hotel and staff very nice location and very comfortable but we had two experiences that were unpleasant the first being we reserved and made advance payment for 2 rooms with 2 queen size beds and we arrived, there were no rooms available with 2 queen size beds. The young man at the front desk provided a rollaway at no extra charge, even […] though this helped it still wasn't what we reserved. The second unpleasant thing was even though we thought we made full payment on Expedia there was and additional $15.00 per night charged to each room for resort fees. I find this a deceitful and a bit offensive since the actual charge was more than advertised and originally charged. I do like the hotel the bed was comfortable and staff were pleasant and helpful. Will I go back, I'm still thinking about that. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Recent vacation in Paradise!"
We just returned from 8 days in Waikiki. We stayed at the Luana Waikiki. It was great. Very friendly. Close to shops, restaurants and the beach. "Nice hotel, good location, busy"
We stayed here for one night during the busy season. After arriving a little early on a long international flight we tried to check in early. Unfortunately there weren't able to get us to a room for several hours. Not sure if this was because they were really busy, or just had a strict policy about early check-ins. Still, arriving on an international […] flight didn't seem to matter to the staff. When we finally got into our rooms they were night, well fitted out and clean. The location is pretty good - a bit of a walk to the main beach in Waikiki, but certainly not something I would think was excessive. If you're considering this hotel you won't do wrong. "Quiet hotel, little trek to the water"
Firstly when you walk into this hotel you will be pretty amazed at the new renovations of the lobby and front facade as it does not match the surroundings as it is gorgeous. The hotel staff is very friendly and is willing to help you out to their best knowledge. I used the onsite touring booking and it was easy and hassle free. I would recommend just […] booking the trips when you get to the hotel as you are not saving much money online. The room was very nice looking and it was cleaned very well each day with friendly cleaning staff. The only gripe I have about my stay was that the AC was super loud and the bed is a bit too soft for my liking. The rest of the stay was nice and I would stay there again. "Nice, comfortable room. Great location."
Our check-in experience was a wonderful one, thanks to Jackie. Our check-out, however, was completely opposite. The older Japanese women was unfriendly and cold, like she just wanted to get rid of the check-out guests so she could go back to her reading. Our room was clean, nice, and comfortable. No hotel fees, but $35 parking/night was steep. The elevator […] ride was rather rough for me. I tried taking the stairs (located outside) but they were dirty. We spent three nights at this hotel which is centrally located, plentiful of restaurants within walking distance and close to Waikiki beach. The staff, including housekeeping were great. I find them more accommodating and friendlier than the other more expensive hotel we stayed at in Waikiki. Its no Marriott or Hilton but this a great budget hotel for all that it has to offer. Great location so all the popular spots in Waikiki are a short walk away, the staff was very friendly, bed was very comfortable, no issues with WiFi connectivity, and the Cafe at it's entrance is really good. Some things to note: non-carpet floors, floors had a few […] dirty or missed spots, it is a city environments you hear traffic, no microwave in room, no free parking ($35 per day), my TV was not programmed with channels. "Surprised that the hotel rating is 4.4"
I normally looked at the hotel rating and reviews before I will book my hotel, and chose this hotel bec. of the ratings. Our dilemna started as soon as we get in the room. We boooked a 2 double queen, it's 4 of us. To my surprised, they gave me 1 queen bed with a sofa. I was not informed before check-in. I was told that when you booked thru expedia, […] whatever is your request is not guaranteed, bec. It' just a request.and I was told by the receptionist to just let my children sleep in the sofa. But how can you fit in 2 kids (15 y/o and 10 y/o) in a sofa. With a long discussion they finally moved me to another room with 2 queen bed. But, wow, the hall way is so "stinky", smell like mold, you smell it the moment you comes out from the elevator. Same thing inside the room, the bed covers, smell the same thing; but since we are all tired with the flight, we just deal with it all night. But you hate that the moment you will wake up, you can smell that "moldy smell" in your self. I left a note infront of the mirror that morning, so nobody would missed, to please change our sheets and linens, but to my disappointments when we came back that night, the note still infront of the mirror, sheets were not changed at all. Trashed not emptied, too hard to call operator and housekeeping, they don't answer the phone, so I have to go down and tell them my issues.Air coming out from the aircon, smell like mold too. So, disappointed with the stay, will not ever consider coming back to this hotel Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good family oriented hotel"
My family stayed at the Luana for the 4th of July and it was a great experience. We were pleasantly surprised when we were given an upgrade upon check-in. The room was perfect, except it did not have any kind of carpet. It was tile floors and I had never stayed in a hotel room that did not have carpet. I would suggest throw rugs for the tile floor rooms. […] Other than that, everything else was great. Conveniently located and the valet parking is a plus. I was in Honolulu on business and this hotel was fine, given the price. "Great location, close to the beach"
Great location on Waikiki. Less than a 10 minutes walk to the beach. They provide beach towels, beach chairs and bike to use for free if you like. Close to many restaurants and shops. Easy access and away from the busy part of the street if you decide to drive. Got a room with partial ocean view and a view of the city and Diamond Head. The room had […] a lanai, which allowed for extra living space; great for relaxing and having a cold drink while admiring the view. Our room with a kitchenette came with a small fridge, electric cooktop, microwave/oven and supplied with dinnerware and kitchen utensils. This came in handy preparing breakfast and allowed us to save money from eating out all the time. There's also free wi-fi. The hotel has a small pool that's not crowded and area for grilling if you decide to use the BBQ grills to cook up a meal. The hotel staff were friendly. The only drawback is the valet only parking option at $35 per night. At least there were no other charges like a resort fee. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Overall our stay was wonderful. The hotel's location is great for those wanting a place near Waikiki and downtown. We had requested a King suite and we were given a beautiful room on the 11th floor with it's own private lanai that had the most beautiful view of both city and the ocean. the lanai was huge and had a nice eating table and chairs etc..Room […] number was 1114. I didn't give it a 5 star rating for 2 reasons. First, although the room was just beautiful, I had requested a King and the room they gave us was a queen bed. Also, so being such a lovely suite, I thought the bathrooms were very small and needed some updating. Other than those two things, we would not hesitate to go back.
