I was disappointed in this hotel. The receptionist was not only rude but very uninformed of the local geography. I felt very uncomfortable when I asked any question in regard to transportation as well as local places to dine. We waited over 2 hours for the shuttle bus due to misinformation from 2 different sources. If the shuttle bus had the name of the hotel more prominently on the side of the bus and the driver hadwalked over to the group of people at the stop and made sure everyone was alerted to him, it would have saved a lot of frustration and bad feelings.

This was my second one-night stay before an afternoon overseas flight. I find the hotel itself to be very comfortable and priced well enough to justify the possible need to use a taxi. The Hotel Chariot was a great option close to Schipol. Upsides were a comfortable room, great rate, good restaurant downstairs (excellent food, little noisy). Downsides were no room service (I think that's pretty normal) and a shuttle driver that drove way too fast while talking on his cell phone.

This is a very clean small hotel with all necessary conveniences, located very close to the airport, with a hotel shuttle. (15 min.ride) My room was very well-appointed. I have stayed at the Chariot before and came back because it was convenient, clean and hospitable. The hotel is near the airport so there is noise during the morning and afternoon departure and arrival times. The rooms are very nice, all have a small refrigerator and a mini bar. We had a 14 hour layover between a flight from Italy and one to the US. We were traveling with 2 small children aged 3 and 3 months. It was very difficult to find a hotel near Schiphol that allowed more than one child in the room without charging an exorbitant amount. Someone on Tripadvisor suggested Hotel Chariot in Aalsmeer and so I booked it. It […] was perfect. When we got to the shuttle bus stop we called the hotel and the bus was already on its way there. There were a bunch of people waiting, so we barely fit. It was only a 15-minute drive to the hotel. The staff was very friendly. The room was great! Very modern and clean. There was a sofa sleeper that was already made up for our 3-year old, and a baby crib. And the bathroom was almost as big as the bedroom. The bed was very comfortable. Our only downside was that we forgot to turn the AC down so it was quite warm with the comforter. We had dinner at the restaurant next door which was also great. The next morning at 7am we took the shuttle back to Schiphol and arrived with plenty of time to spare. The only criticism I have is that they advertise the free shuttle bus, but it's only free from the airport to the hotel. The other direction you pay 16 euros per room. Read more

I needed a place to seep for one night near the Schiphol Airport. The website tells that the Hotel Chariot is 2.4 miles = 3.7 km from the airport. But the actual driving distance is about 15 km, (10 miles) from the airport. 2.4 miles could be the direct line from the airport to the hotel. I was quite disappointed.

This hotel is not correctly advertised. It is not 3 miles from the airport. It is actually 12KM which is about a 30 euro fee for a taxi. The shuttle is 15 euros each way and is not readily available. The staff is not available at check in or check out. I had to wait for a long time. In conclusion, If you don't have a car expect to spend alot on shuttle […] payments each way. They also charge a tax of 3.5. euro per room, per person, per night. It is in the middle of nowhere so if you need to get food or walk around, there is not much to see. I was there with family for a city break. we booked this place in the last minute and weren't quite sure about the quality. But we found the hotel to be well maintained and of excellent quality. Staff were very helpful and polite and spoke very good English. We only got to have breakfast in the restaurant and it was quite sumptuous with a wide selection […] of items, very nice way to start the day. The restaurant was fully booked when we wanted to have dinner on another day, so that probably speaks of the quality of food there, looked like it was quite popular with the locals there. This hotel is located on the outskirts of Amsterdam and just about the right distance to get into the city using public transport. There are a couple of P+R locations (Olympic stadium and World fashion centre) just about 20 mins drive from this place. There is no swimming pool, something that you'd normally expect in a 4 star hotel and it is in a residential locality. So you wouldn't find any restaurants or shops around this place. But there is a supermarket and take away shops about 2 to 3 mins drive from this place which come in handy. They charged a city tax on the final bill which came to me as a surprise as it was not advertised as an additional tax, so watch out for this. But overall, we were extremely satisfied with this place and might consider staying there again in the future. Read more

This hotel used to be good. Now they charge 17 Euros for the airport shuttle, 2.95 Euros for a bottle of water AND 10 Euros if you need an electrical adapter for a few hours. Worse still the floor boards creak if you walk across the room. And the breakfast croissants run out by 9 am. So if you have no other business in Aalmsmeer and think is close to […] Schiphol - think twice before your pocket gets attacked. Arrived really late with two young children. The first thing we asked was whether we could extend our one-night reservation as we knew we would be too tired the following day to continue our journey immediately. Receptionist had availability. Room was comfortable - fairly quiet - children slept on unfolded sofabed which was not as comfortable as they […] would have liked (we have had other family rooms with single cotbeds more suitable and they do not have to sleep together). Otherwise, room fairly spacious despite double bed and sofabed. Bar staff were pleasant for a late night cap with two children in tow. Breakfast was fairly generous although basic - expensive at 2 x €16 per adult and 2 x €8 per child - the following morning I made a coffee in the room as didn't want to spend €16 on a coffee and pain au chocolat. This hotel was ideal for my business trip. It is a fifteen minute taxi ride from Schippol. The hotel does offer a shuttle but you need to order the shuttle when you arrive. I took a taxi which cost about 26 Euros. There is not a great deal arround the hotel that I could see. One restaurant across the street and an indoor beach volley ball centre next […] door. The food was very good and the staff very friendly. Nice atmosphere in the bar. There were some shops but all appeared to be closed during the four days I was staying, maybe a local holiday. The area seemed to be mainly garden centres, 'not flowers' one taxi driver advised me. It looked like shrubs and trees. Anyway I enjoyed the hotel and if I am back in Amstelveen I would use it again.
