The staff was friendly, the building itself is cool, the rooms are large. However, the lighting in the bath/bed is poor, the housekeeping staff is just OK at cleaning (left some of their stuff in my room) and I had to kill a cockroach...

Not a 4 star by any standard, but a solid 3 or even 3.5. Price was right @150. It was quite a walk from ocean drive, don't count the blocks as being 1700 to 1000 as 7 blocks more like 14. but a cheap cab ride $7.

I have never been so disappointed in a hotel. The santuary looked so serene and airy zen online... What a sham! The service was soooo awful. No one welcomes u. No one could tell me where to get ice. The staff was snobby and acted as if they moved to Miami yesterday! No clue about any recommendations. Parking was so scary. I parked across the street […] and the next day my rental had candy wrappers and s Soda I didn't buy.... Hmmm. Guess they spent the 40 bux I paid them and went to 7-11. The hotel told me it was that Lot or one 6 blocks away and no help w bags. My coffee maker was broken. I asked to change rooms seeing as mine was first floor w busy foot traffic and no light. They said yes and to pack all my stuff and leave it to be moved when the new room was open around 3pm.... When i got back I was still in my same room!!! It was moldy and had hair in the sink. The restaraunt was way over priced! I ended up checking out early and not looking back... DO NOT stay here!!! Be warned. Not a santuary more like a sanitirium! Read more

This is an absolutely awful excuse for a hotel attached to a very nice restaurant. Unfortunately, after you smell your room, you won't have much of an appetite. My room immediately smelled like musty, moldy mildew. When I complained to the front desk I was told that they all smelled like this and that this was just South Florida. No, it is not. It is […] a nasty mold infestation. I left and Expedia immediately processed a refund. My colleague, whose room didn't smell as bad, dexided to stay. The next day he told me that as soon as he turned down the air conditioning, his room smelled terrible as well. I have stayed at The Sanctuary two or three times in the past and it was fine. Under current management it has deteriorated. I had to change rooms as the first floor door to the patio did not close properly. The shower needs a thorough cleaning. The fixture for clean towels is falling from the wall. It took 3 requests to get a lightbulb replaced in […] the bathroom. I asked for a wake up call, but never got it. The "free breakfast" is awful -- no skim milk, no bread for toast although there is a toaster, no option of hot oatmeal. The workmen insisted on drilling during breakfast and the staff were unwilling to ask them to stop -- hardly consistent with the notion of a sanctuary, which implies peace and quiet. We had a nice time at The Sanctuary Hotel. The room was big and close to the beach and the shopping area. The view from our hotel room was not the best - we had the view to a wall and it was quite dark. Just for staying there overnight is totally fine and the service is good.

This hotel was a decent place to stay. The rooms were spacious and clean. Breakfast was available every morning. The pool is just a wading pool and very small and the lobby was within the restaurant. One deficit was that the bathroom was so dark and makeup application was impossible. We booked the Sanctuary because the Shelbourne was sold out for the night we wanted to stay and was recommended to us. Check in was the easiest and fastest I've ever had. The staff was friendly and overly eager to help us with whatever we needed. They provided ice so we didn't have to get it, brought us extra pillows and blankets with no hassle. The […] room was awesome and perfect for 3-4 people. The location was a block away from the Shelbourne and beach where our friends were staying. The bathroom and shower was clean and modern. We stayed there for one night before our cruise. When we visited the Shelbourne i was actually very happy we booked the Sanctuary instead and I would definitely stay there the next time I'm in South Beach! There were people of all ages, were in our 20's. The rooftop pool was small but perfect to lounge during the day or take a quick dip at night. Overall i would recommend this hotel to everyone I know! I stayed at the Sanctuary on a Wednesday night. It is a small hotel, but the rooms have a nice set up. However, the air conditioner and the fan were SO LOUD that I could not sleep - the HVAC system is clearly old and in desperate need of repair. I spent the night sweltering in an 84 degree room, because turning on the a/c was too loud to sleep with. The […] toilet in my room did not flush, it seemed to not be connected to the water main. Instead of being switched to another room, the hotel sent a maintenance man in with a dirty plunger and he worked in the bathroom for nearly an hour. The parking was absurd, with the valet making up a price ($35!!) on the spot - it contradicted the posted $23 sign. I do not recommend this hotel. It was hardly a relaxing, convenient or enjoyable stay. Read more

The HOtel looks like a magazine, all the rooms are very cool with trendy furniture and very confortable beds. The problem seems to be the services that are not 100%.
