When we checked in, they gave us a horrible room, next to the main street (loud), that was missing a toilet seat and was dirty under the pullout bed! We couldn't change for 2 days, so we complained to the operations manager and got a free lunch for 4. The nicer rooms were just that, clean, walk out to pool, one bedroom, 2 tvs and a kitchenette,...If […] only we had started here! The manager was very sympathetic and told us that the resort was old and will probably be torn down in 2015 because it is not up to RCI time share standards! This was our 3rd stay at Villa Del Palmar. We are a family of 5 with 3 children ages 11, 8 and 2 years. The resort has consistently met our needs of a safe, clean well serviced environment. My children spend the majority of the time at the pool with the slide which offers a ping pong table on deck and other activities for kids throughout the day. There was a day of rain so we assumed that the pool was cool due to the rain. Anyway, I spoke with Claudia in the lobby and within minutes you could feel the warm water coming down the slide and waterfall. I am grateful for Claudia's responsiveness, but would have preferred that the hotel monitor the pool for their guests comfort and use. Other than the cold pool, the food and service at the restaurants was very good. A special thanks to Joaquin & Ceasar at the Sports Bar and Ernesto & Alonso for great breakfasts and room service. I went to Villa Del Palmar over the Christmas Holiday with my 19 year old son and we had a fabulous time. We liked the fact that it was a smaller hotel versus the larger ones...so much more intimate and we met so many nice people...many of which come down every year. The fact that there was three pool/water venues was great. You could spend one day […] by the quiet pool and the next on the beach and have a completely different experience. The hotel next to us (the Hilton I think) was big and had lous music going in the afternoons by the pool. I would NOT have wanted to listent to this...it would have been annoying, so I liked the fact that we could have some peace and enjoyment without feeling like we are at summer camp for adults in the afternoon. The location is terrific - especially if you want easy access to downtown. Cabs were readily available and for $5 we were downtown. The activities were terrific (my son parasailed) and again, the smaller venue was appealing and I would recommend Villa Del Palmar to anyone due to location, the fact that there were many families (not a big "singles" place) and very clean and friendly staff. Beware the hotel engages in heavy sales tactics for their time share presentations. I spent a 1/2 day out of my 6 day vacation getting a heavy sales pitch. They shuttled everybody to their Flamingo hotel location in a shuttle for a heavy sales pitch. The welcome staff gets credit for every person they send to the the time share presentation where they […] assign a sales person 1 on 1 to get you to buy a time share. In return for the presentation they give you a breakfest, a 400 peso tour of PV and a discount on future tours. The room accommodations were good. Our room had a kitchenette that was very convenient and it came with dishes and a few pans too. Also the room had a rather nice size bathroom that was overall pretty well maintained. The bed was comfortable as I like stiff mattresses however the comforter and throw pillows were quite worn and dingy from years of use. […] We threw them off immediately everyday after the room was made up while away exploring. the Two main pools and couple hot tubs were large and the water slide was great for the youngsters. The beach access was limited and overrun by peddlers, but that is a constant anywhere in PTO. Towel rental was right by the beach and the beach towels were huge and great. at $25 a piece if you lost your towel card or towel it was hard to leave them on the recliner but we managed. Overall service was average, however Aurora did a superb job upon our arrival. Don't be fooled by the Villa de Palmar Flamingos tour though, a free breakfast and 90min demonstration turned into 4 hours and a hard time share pitch. Only reason it was worth it is that it gives 50% off of the activities that we did (horseback, snorkeling, ATV, ziplines). overall a very acceptable resort with expected level of service and amenities. 3 or 4 rating of 5 easy. Everyone seemed surprised that we were there on a vacation as an unmarried couple (we're both in our mid 20s). We got asked if we're on our honeymoon by almost every staff member, which got annoying after a while. Only two restaurants and 2 main pools.. Honestly I was very dissapointed in this hotel. From the road it looks fine, but once you get into the hotel you quickly see how old and outdated everything in this is. The rooms were dirty and old. It was very clean, right on the beach, lots of fun activities, and overall just a wonderful experience. I will definitely stay there again if I go back.

We had stayed here before and liked it much more the first time. This trip, the hotel seemed to have more business than it could handle. The staff seemed annoyed that we asked to be moved to the type of room we had reserved and then it took a day to have a room become available because they were overbooked. The cleaning was poor this trip as well. We like the location of this hotel, the restaurants there (although this time if we wanted to order a la carte off the breakfast menu, we had to wait 20-30 minutes and the service was inconsistent), the pools and the beach. If you didn't dodge enough of the time share presentation fodder at the airport you'll be relieved to know you'll get a recap once you arrive here. After your check in the "concierge" will take you aside to give you a few things you'll need to find your way around the hotel (admittedly a decent sized place) and then jump into all the reasons why you […] should step right this way to watch the timeshare presentation. After you decline of course all the smiles disappear. However once you're passed all that the place was actually clean and comfortable. I recommend acquainting yourself with the bus service to get into town (it's easy after you get the hang of it and only costs you $6.50 pesos). Villa is a first rate comfortable resort. Wonderfully small in scale with any ammenities a family would desire. The staff is warm and personable. The food is outstanding with so many different offerings and options for all. Would love Modelo Negro to be included in the All Inclusive plan...that's my only complaint. We stayed 12/10/2011 to 12/17/2011 in a Deluxe Room Garden View. Our reservation included breakfast which was perfect - no worries about cooking or finding a place to eat in the morning and was an great value. The Breakfast buffet was excellent, made to order eggs (any way you like), pancakes or french toast (YUM!) and assorted fruits, other hot dishes […] and a bread/sweet selection. We did not eat dinner at the hotel, preferring to try places in town or at the Marina each night.Staff was very nice but do remember this is Mexico and things move at at more leisurely pace. The pools are beautiful. We had massages that were very nice, although the cinnamon scented potpourri in the spa was so strong it gave me a headache. We arrived a bit before Christmas crowds and liked how quiet things were. It got busier later in our stay and there was quite a bit of noise one night but not too bad. I'd stay there again - would make for a fun family trip. The city bus stops at the corner and can take you to downtown, to the marina or other locations for a fraction of the taxi cost - safe, convenient, and a way to feel like a local. Read more
