"Good place to make your base for a few days..."Reviewed by Daniel W. of "Tampa, FL" on Apr 7, 2012
I only stayed here one night, but this would be a great place to bring a family, and stay for several days. The 2-bedroom condo was clean and comfortable, loved the gas fireplace, comfortable bed, and the kitchen was handy. Access to the units is a little inconvenient -- lots of steps to go up and down, especially if you're on the back side. But the location is great, just outside Banff, and just a 3 minute drive to Canmore.
"Comfortable and convenient"Reviewed by Ellen K of "British Columbia" on Mar 21, 2012
The room was spacious and comfortable with a sitting space in addition to the bed. The hotel is within easy walking distance of shopping, restaurants, etc. Only complaints: 1) Early wake up call not received as requested for first morning (good thing I was up already) 2) Very noisy kids running in the hallway the first night 3) Radio came on early on second morning (I did not set it) I would stay here again.
"Radisson Hotel, Canmore, AB."Reviewed by Randy M of "Red Deer, AB." on Feb 23, 2012
Our stay was very pleasant an comfortable, and all of the staff were amazing. We had the best time in the bar with our sever who we made cry as she was laughing soo hard!! The menue was exquisite and our server, Julia, treated us like royalty! Our favourite dessert was some frozen cheese cake balls, twice!!! "To die for" is all I can say about that. I would highly recommend staying there as you are only minutes from Banff.

Any time we have stayed at the Douglas Fir Resort we have had a great vacation. You can't beat looking out your balcony doors and seeing a snow covered mountain or deer wandering below. The staff has always been very helpful and friendly.
"Smokey!"
Great place for kids, but the rooms have wood burning fireplaces that have filled the rooms full of smoke so many times that they have it embedded into the carpets and comforters/sheets/pillows...........

"Pleasant Stay"
The room had a nice kitchen with full refrigerator and stove. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. Nothing fancy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It's close to Banff city if you want to go out to eat. and It's close to many of the attraction and was still very quite. We went on the waterslides and they were fun. We were told […] we were lucky to be there at this time of year Sept.21,22, because it was not crowded at all. We had a very nice stay and I would recommend it. Read more
"a perfect place"
Incredible comfort. The room and kitchen had everything we needed into details. The staff taking of the room was awesome and did a very good job. It's the perfect location for a family... We'd go back in a second.
"Banff hotel for families"
Very well equipped for families.
"Peaceful"
Beautiful view, Peaceful, Clean, Spacious, Quiet, Romantic
"Room too small"
We had specified 4 adults in our reservation but the room was too small for our party. It had a Murphy bed instead of an extra bed. and it was on the lower level which made me think of a basement.
"Excellent hotel for family with children"
We stayed at this hotel for six nights in the week of 8/21 with our two girls, age 9 and 12. Our daughters had a blast at the indoor water park. There's a full kitchen in the studio unit and that definitely helps to control the budget and also provides lots of conveniences you'd have when eating at home. The hotel is not located in the town of Banff […] but it's only a few minutes drive, we were always able to find a parking space in the town. The staff at the front desk are very courteous and friendly. The hotel shows a little bit of age but the room is maintained very clean. We'd definitely consider staying here again next time we visit Banff. Read more
We stayed in a 1 bdrm + loft over the weekend and it fit us all comfortably. Three queen sized beds and a pullout couch. The kitchen was a little tight but it did have everything we needed. The amenities are superb for families and the staff were very friendly. The waterslides are both very big but because they end in shallow water, my 4 yr old son […] was not afraid to go on them. We've been to other hotels with waterslides that my son would have loved to go on, but once he realized that they ended in deep water, he would refuse to go on them. I would stay again with my family for sure. Read more
"Douglas Fir - good accomodation for the price."
Spent four nights at Douglas Fir while I was attending a conference at the Banff Centre. The room was excellent with everything that I needed to make my own meals (full size fridge, dishes, dishwasher). The bed was a little hard for my taste, but otherwise I found the room quite comfortable. It was nice that transit stopped right out front and my room […] key served as a bus pass on the system which I used a number of times. Read more

"Douglas Fir: Family fun"
The Douglas Fir is a great place to take the family when visiting Banff. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. The kids LOVED the water slide. The store is pricey and there is no hotel restaurant, otherwise, a great place.

"nice hotel, good value for the money"
We found the bed kind of small. Otherwise really nice, the kitchen is definitely a plus. The waterslides were a lot of fun!
"Great place for families, buy beer in Calgary"
We have been there for many years and will be back next year. The view, waterslides and playground are excellent for the entire family. The kitchen allows to feed everybody for a reasonable price. Beware of the liquor prices in town. Since the liquor stores were privatized beer prices seem to have doubled. $16-20 for a six-pack!!! Get your beer in Calgary […] before you go to Banff. Read more

We had a good stay. Would tell others. The only thing I did not like was the bathroom. Their was no fan, unless you took a shower. A bathroom should have a fan that works with a independt switch.
Nice quiet room. Plenty of space. Great fireplace and kitchen. They even washed our dirty dishes.
"Douglas Fir In Banff AB"
About 4 miles out of town. Away from the noise but still close to the attractions. Room was great, had a kitchen an a fireplace. More than we needed but the rate was lower than other places with fewer amenities. Waterpark on site free to guests.

"Good economical choice"
This hotel provided a studio complete with a fireplace and kitchenette for a reasonable price. I was very pleased with all the utensils and cookware in the kitchen - there was even a wine bottle opener! The balcony and fireplace were nice bonuses. However, the room is not soundproof, and the bedding is just okay. I was pleasantly surprised that there […] were two hot tubs (although both are indoors - slight bummer), a steamroom, and saunas. The indoor waterslides are nice for both kids and adults! Read more

"Decent But Could Be Great"
All in all a nice place but some things let it down which could easily be rectified to make this place superb. The good things are its location (you feel like your in the mountains but are still a short free bus ride to Banff), fireplace, kitchenette and general cabin feel. However, the place smells a bit musty, had some old cobwebs on the ceiling and […] could do with a lick of paint throughout. I would probably replace the carpets too. Also, the bed was the most uncomfortable I have ever slept in (I'm not fussy about where I sleep either but we both agreed that this was the worst) which left us tired for our holiday as we slept poorly. Also, the bedsheets could do with being replaced completely. Read more

"Good one for Families"
This one is good for families with kids since they have a pool and water slides in the hotel. The room also had a full kitchen. It's a bit out of the city but if you have a car then there is no problem getting to the center of town.
"Lovely and pleasant"
All was over expectations. Room had all the amenities of a Condo. A little removed from downtown. Not a problem if you have a car.. Enjoyed the stay...
"Good Value"
The hotel room was very large. Had a full kitchen for those who want to eat in. Beautiful location with shuttle bus service into Baniff. Great for families- an indoor pools.
"Quiet Mountain Retreat"
We recently stayed with our two grown sons and enjoyed the proximity to town and some excellent trails for hiking. We had requested a renovated room whichhad been updated recently...the style is very rustic. The One bedroom with a loft was perfect for four adults. Being able to prepare our meals was a real plus.
"Great for families!"
The flumes were a big hit with the children after 6 days of mountain walks and yet more viewpoints. Kitchens very well equipped.
"a nice family place at Banff"
good value, spacious, convenient (with kitchen), quiet, ideal for families
"Very Nice"
If you like a condo with a resort feel at a reasonable price, this is a very good value. Outside our back window we saw deer and elk grazing in the little valley below. The room(s) were very nice, about what you would expect in this price range. They furnished firewood which came in handy for those chilly nights. This is a very good value.

"Douglas Fir- lots of fun"
Our family stayed at the Douglas Fir on Good Friday. The kids really enjoyed the waterslides and we found the room to be comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed! and the pull out sofa was actually comfortable.
"One night stay"
I took my boys (5 and 7) and my parents while they were visiting for one night. We had a fantastic time, and we will go back again and take Daddy this time in the summer. This is a great family resort.
"Great family location"
Spent 3 nights at Douglas Fir and would return again. We had some problems with our fireplace but other than this the stay was really enjoyable and cozy. We had deer right at the back door which was so nice when you awoke in the morning and there was wild life in the backyard that would feed from your hand. Service at the front desk was very good and […] had free firewood and the use of a great BBQ our whole stay. Read more
"Douglas Fir Banff - Fun for Kids"
We enjoyed our stay as a quick getaway from the city with the kids. We spent the entire evening at the waterslides, which were fairly warm and did not require long waiting. Once the kids were in bed we enjoyed relaxing by the fire with a glass of wine and a book. The next morning the kids had a blast in the playzone while I made breakfast with the food […] I had packed to bring with us. It wasn't far to go to ice skate and toboggan in Banff after checking out. I'm sure we will return again. Read more
We only had one little problem. not enough blankets in the room for this time of the year. Thank you.

"Great Family Spot"
We really enjoyed the hotel and all it had to over. The playzone and waterpark were a huge hit with our children and us. Close to everything. Very comfortable and clean. We will definitely be going back.
"Great hotel for families with young kids"
We spent one night here to celebrate my Mom's 60th birthday and rented a couple rooms. The kitchens weren't gourmet, but had everything we needed to cook dinner and breakfast. The beds were comfy and the living room was adequate but a little crowded for 12 people to hang out in. (we had 2 one bedroom loft suites for 8 adults and 4 children) The best […] part was the indoor playground and waterpark. It was quite a cold weekend and we loved that the kids could still get their exercise and have fun indoors. The price was very reasonable for what we got and hotel staff was very friendly. Read more
"Douglas Fir Hotel in Banff"
Great hotel, we love it because of all the amenities for the kids. However, we had a considerable better experience last time. The room didn't have a view of the mountain, contrary to our last stay. It was also very noisy, like an intermittent "jack-hammer" all night long. As we called the reception, they were not aware of the problem and also didn't […] take care of it. So, our last stay was excellent, but this one, not so much. Read more
"Douglas Fir"
Great hotel for the kids, swimming pools, water slides and a huge play place where they can run, climb and slide to burn off energy! A little distance from town, but buses run regular
