This was the perfect location, entrance accessible from train stop for CDG (first one). We had an early flight the next day and weren't going to site see any more so this was perfect for its location, clean rooms and comfy beds. This is and old house that has been converted. We were upgraded to a 2 story suite. The 2 issues I had was that i kept bumping my head into the door ways and we had to walk up some very steep stairs. It was further away than from the town center than i would like too, and it was in a not so great area.

Florence can be a bit overwhelming and being close to the Duomo it is a crowded area to stay in, but the J&J hotel is a complete oasis of calm. The hotel is quite and beautifully decorated. My husband and I really enjoyed staying at the J&J Hotel. The hotel was cozy and the staff were very friendly. My only complaint was that we had to get rid of our rental car as parking is very expensive and limited. The city does not allow cars, so as soon as you arrive to the hotel, the hotel staff have to call the police to tell them to erase your […] ticket which you will get as soon as you pass through the city walls with your car. The staff took care of the problem ASAP. Our room was very nice and located off of the court yard on the bottom floor. The hotel was a conveniant walk into town. I read all of the reviews before I booked the hotel and I found the hotel very nice. I would stay there again. The front lobby and lounge areas are lovely and exactly what you want in a small hotel in Florence. My room was a peculiar split-level affair, with a large bathroom on the lower level. The bedroom area was narrow and probably not to everyone's taste but I found the room strangely charming. Overall, I thought the staff were a little bossy - the waiter refused to serve coffee in the sitting area, the front desk wouldn't allow my daughter to visit my room, that sort of thing. Really enjoyed our recent stay at the J & J Hotel, the staff were attentive and friendly and the hotel atmosphere was very relaxed. Our room was comfortable, a good size and really liked the old furniture. The location was only a short walk to the main Florence centre, taking in lots of intereting shops on the way. The hotel is located in a rough-looking back road and from the outside didn't look so special. However, inside it is really lovely although a little dark in some passageways. Our room had a balcony leading to it which overlooked the outside courtyard. We had our breakfasts and drinks in this courtyard and it was very pretty with plants and other garden […] features (watch out for mosquitos when sitting outside). The hotel is in good walking distance from the major attractions (Il Duomo, Galleria d'Accademia (David), Santa Croce, etc). The staff were very helpful and spoke English. We had a minor problem - the door handle in our room came off the first morning (I had to call out to guests below to call staff to help - "Romeo wherefore art thou". But this matter was dealt with and the handle repaired quickly. We loved our room as it was comfortable, clean and had good air-conditioning. The first thing which struck us was how dark the hotel was - quite gloomy really - and not at all as it was shown on its own website, which shows an opulent establishment. Our room also was what can only be described as Spartan - bare tiled floor, not terribly comfortable settee, little storage space, a nice bathroom with a unique if slightly unnerving […] bath/shower arrangement (it would have been an absolute nightmare for an older, more infirm person). The breakfast was basic but OK. Why would I not recommend the hotel? I hate to give this rating, but in all honesty it was not what I expected from a four-star hotel. For instance, I had to ask for replacement toiletries three times and also a bulb in the bathroom, which I explained was not working, was never replaced. I appreciate utterly that we were probably a bit unlucky and that other rooms would have been better, but still....... The J & J is a terrific hotel. We stayed in Room No. 9 (a suite) and it was the biggest hotel room we have ever seen. The ceilings were about 14 feet high, and we could have fit many London-sized hotel rooms in the open spaces of this one. It has a huge bed, two love seats (one of which contained the second bed), fine exposed wooden beams in the ceiling […] and a claw-foot bathtub (the room has a shower as well). The breakfast was good, but didn't contain many choices. It was served in a lovely interior courtyard. The hotel is staffed 24 hours, and the employees are pleasant and helpful. It is an easy walk anywhere you want to go. The air conditioning was fantastic, which really mattered because the temperature was in the mid-30s throughout our stay.
