Cosmopolitan Hotel Hong Kong - Hong Kong

We stayed at the Cosmopolitan Hotel, for several days. The hotel was very basic; tea/instant coffee (not replaced. The room was small, the small shower had no sides, just a curtain, and very difficult to turn around. We did not eat at the restaurant;, and only ordered coffee with the room service. The price for 2 cups of coffee was $12.00, and even […] though we refussed to bring it up. The Hotel was emailed 2 months prior that we were going to need an early airport shuttle at 5:00 a.m. However, at check-in, we were told they did not offer shuttles before 7:00 a.m. and we were to hire a taxi. Hotel got the taxi and told us the fare would be approximately $40 to $45; however, upon arrival the fare was $70. Hotels require a deposit on a credit card; but checking out, we were informed that this deposit would not be returned for 2 WEEKS. We have been to Hong Kong many times, and next time will stay in Kowloon. Read more

Room was clean and well appointed. Getting a taxi in the morning required us to cross the street to avoid the full line of taxis coming from Aberdeen tunnel.

The location of the hotel was good only if you could use the shuttle from the Hong Kong subway station (or used taxis). For walking, it was close to impossible to find one's way--and the concierge staff was nearly useless when it came to providing comprehensible directions. They gave us totally inaccurate directions to another restaurant the next day--and we had to ask several more times after we found the street--before being guided to another restaurant entirely by a kindly building manager. I rated everything 5 except "Comfort of your room" which I rated 4. It seem the room temperature is more geared towards air conditioning. We were a little cold even when we set the temperature to the highest setting. Otherwise, everything was good.

Hotel was good value for the money. While the closest subway station was abit of a walk, it was nevertheless conveniently located. Room was clean, comfortable and size-wise adequate for two people. Their breakfast buffet is outstanding, so make sure to get a rate that includes the breakfast. It looks like the hotel needs some renovation. It had a good staff with clean and comfortable rooms. Their elavators were too small and slow. The hotel lobby was not well accessable from the main street. The lobby itself was acceptable.

We stayed here for a few days after a trip to Canton fair. I disagree some of the other reviews in regards to the location. For the price, you can't beat it. It's a bit of a walk to the MTR or ferry but.. I like to walk. This is a nice hotel for a fair price.

The room was smaller than I thought it would be, but I suppose at the good price I paid this makes sense, particularly for Hong Kong. Both Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are within easy walking distance (about 10 minutes), but there is little in the way of pubs or restaurants close by the hotel. A real plus is the Hong Kong tram stop right across the street […] from the hotel which provides easy and inexpensive (HK$2.30, or about US$0.18) access to many parts of the city including Central and Wan Chai. Staff was friendly, including the bartender at the small hotel bar. The hotel was excellent. Very helpful staff, very clean room. One negative is that they charge for wireless internet use, other hotels do not. The hotel was packed with tourists when I was there but my room was very quiet. Rooms are small but very clean. Excellent staff.

The hotel is pretty updated and the staffs are very helpful. The room is very clean except some towels have stains on them. In-room free Wi-Fi would be welcoming. Transportation wise, the hotel shuttle is fine except it does not operate after 9:30 pm. Overall, good experience.

A very good hotel for the price and excellent location for site seeing. The room was clean and staff service is excellent. Only small issues are the wifi, advertised as free but it is free only in the lobby, and the view of less expensive rooms (a graveyard).

The room and services are overall quite good. The size of room is also larger than many other HK hotels. The location is not optimal, need to walk (a good while) to subway. Hard to get taxi in the afternoon. Overall, I think very nice for the price I am paying. Will come again if some of my other favorites are too expensive.

I checked in very late (4am) and they obviously gave me a spare room that they rarely use. The bed had a feather mattress and all the pointy ends of the feathers were sticking through the sheet and poking me. It wasn't just one but dozens. I was too tired to ask to change rooms but the next day I did.

Hotels in hk are small in general anyways, so the room size is okay in this hotel, probably becuz it's a bit of a distance to TST. But the deposits is very expensive. Next time I would stay at Cosmo hotel instead of this one. They are sister hotels and the cosmo one has bigger rooms.

Everything in this hotel is tiny! If you're a regular sized American, you won't fit in the shower, for example. And your legs will hang over the edge of the bed. Also, there's no easy way to walk into Wan Chai. The roads are too busy and there aren't any cross walks nearby. So, you'll be spending more on Taxis. We chose this hotel for the location, but the location turned out to be not that great-- it's within walking distance of a big mall though, if you like shopping... and the metro station is right in the mall, which is a plus. It's pretty far from the airport though, and their free shuttle only goes to a nearby metro station, and only at certain times, […] so we had to take a taxi to the metro to catch our early flight. Here's a tip: instead of taking the airport express for 100HKD, you can take the Tung Chung line from Central station to the end (22.5 HKD) and then the S1 or S56 bus (3.5 HKD) from Tung Chung to the airport. Sure it's a tad bit more inconvenient, but you save a ton! Or just stay at Novotel City Gate, a much nicer hotel than Cosmopolitan, and only a 10-15 minute free shuttle ride from the airport. The rooms were small but perfect for us. Very comfortable beds and clean linens. Again, small bathroom, but very prettily decorated and worked well for us. Location is not the most convenient. It is where the old China News agency HQ blg and near the Jockey's club. So, public transports you need to walk 2-3 blocks, go through some underpass.
