Thanks for the opportunity to reply. The hotel was great and the staff were fantastic. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to tip, (offer money)sometimes I did and sometimes I didn't. It didn't seem to effect the service. I would return to the hotel. Although it seemed some distance from the centre of town.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Explore Hong Kong"
The stay was much better than expected after my first impression of the lobby and check in. We were too early 11 am but could not get early check in. Was OK since it was noon already and we got lunch and met a friend. The lobby is not that fancy but our hotel room was great. We got a complementary cell phone with data to use throughout our stay. The […] room service was very friendly. The hotel location is great. You can basically walk to any place in downtown within 30-45 minutes. It's an older hotel, but well maintained. Service is very good. Needs a 7-11 convenience store real close - the closest one is a hike. At should have bottled water supply nearby. "Another great experience at the Cosmopolitan"
The first time I stayed here was in 2005, so I was a bit worried about how well the place had held up over nearly a decade. However, they're in the middle of renovations and I was upgraded (by a wonderful woman named Agnes) to one of the newly renovated rooms with a king-size bed. Though the room was quite a bit smaller than the one I stayed in previously, […] it was really well designed and very comfortable. I actually prefer it to the larger room. The city view was amazing, esp. during one stormy lighting-filled night. The mattress was great... better than during my previous stay. Though the metro is a bit of a walk, there are plenty of free hotel shuttles going to various parts of the city and there is a tram that stops just across the street (only $HK 2.30!). Only a couple of small complaints: the lighting in the bathroom is not too good (only overhead LEDs, so lots of shadow on the face) and the roomy shower would have been much improved if a ledge could be provided away from the shower head for toiletries (there was only a wired soap holder under the shower head which tends to get a lot of water, and it's hard to balance items on the wires). Overall, can't wait to return! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not nearly as Convieient as the map indicates!"
Booked this hotel for 8 days to attend two back-to-back International conventions in Hong Kong. Map location seemed to indicate it had a central location. If you are not booking a Grand Deluxe level room, don't waist your money. Jackhammer noises throughout the day WILL be heard LOUDLY and constantly. Second your "included complementary wi-fi" ISN'T […] included until you pay a DAILY "service fee". In fact EXPECT A confrontation at check-in over whether you pre-paid for breakfast and internet regardless of your documentation. I had a 15 minute, 4 staff member "pow-wow" over my booking and after FORCEFUL discussions finally received my breakfast vouchers and included "Wi-Fi". The service fee was their "gotcha" that only became apparent at log-in. I decided to just pay it as the effort to return to the front desk and fight it wasn't worth the aggravation. Speaking of aggravation, I witnessed, on a daily basis, scores of other travelers going through the same grinding routine at check-in. Over 8 days, I realized my experience was clearly the NORM, NOT an isolated incident. Hong Kong rightfully boasts of itself as an International top-tier, modern city and many of their hotels are just that (Conrad, JW Marriot, etc). This is NOT a 4 star Hong Kong hotel, it's not even in the same ZIP CODE of 4 star. AVOID or at least be forewarned! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good deal for what you get"
The location is a good 10-15 walk from either Causeway Bay or Wan Chai MRT stops, and the convoluted roads make it hard to find your way. I used to live in Hong Kong for three years. Recently I went back for a visit after 27 years. I chose The Cosmopaliton because of familiar location. The hotel was nice. Staff very friendly. "Fantastic location, affordable price, good service"
You really can't beat the price for prime Wan Chai location. Super convenient. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, the bathrooms could use an upgrade. They feel a bit like dorm showers with cheap curtains. In-room Wifi is kind of expensive, but at least it's there. Friendly staff arranged travel to Shenzhen for me. Hello, I was given a room usually given to disable guest. The the location of the hotel is very inconvenient, because taxi don't stop at the hotel. I have to walk outside and walk up a few blocks to hail a taxi. There was construction work going on and was very noisy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was staying at the Cosmopolitan Hotel when an unexploded bomb from WWII was discovered at the construction site nearby. It was an extremely dangerous situation; experts said if the bomb exploded it would have destroyed the entire block. We were evacuated to another hotel for the night and the Cosmopolitan staff really shined! They had to contend with […] a lot of angry and pushy guests but kept their calm. I had medications in the hotel and was concerned but one of the staff assured me that they would contact the hotel doctor if needed, and he gave me his personal cell phone number. The next day when we returned the staff, who had been up all night, was as courteous and helpful as ever. This was a real test of the quality of the hotel and they passed with flying colors! "Great service with large and clean rooms"
As an expedia VIP, got an upgraded room which was large and spacious - a rarity for hotels in Hong Kong. Rooms felt like new. Staff were great, main blemish was the frequency of the shuttle from Hong Kong station. For peak hour, I had the unfortunate experience of missing out on a seat on the bus because it was full with the next shuttle being another […] hour away (for some reason it was an hourly service). As for location, it was about 10 mins by foot to Causeway Bay station. A little tricky to figure out at first, definitely have a map for first timers. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The hotel overall is great, except you can hear other guests/house keeping early in the morning talking/shouting at the hallway. "Good meals, good location, but a small room"
The location's great: right between the Causeway Bay and Wanchai. The Fashion Walk streets in the Causeway Bay are within a walking distance. Also, the MTR Causeway Bay station is close and accessible through a subway. Above all, almost right in front of the Hotel located a tram station. By the tram you can get access to most part of the Hong Kong Island […] at a very cheap rate. Moreover, this hotel has a good access to and from the airport. There is a shuttle from the Hong Kong station, and also the hotel provides a shuttle to Disney Land. The breakfast on the first floor was also pretty good. However, the room is too small. I booked a family room with two double beds. The title of "Family" in front of the room gave me an expectation that we would be accommodated in a room larger than a standard room. But, the room was a plain standard room packed with two double beds: no extra space. In addition, there is nothing much to expect about the hotel facilities. Nevertheless, it was still pretty comfortable and enjoyable because we did not spend much time in the room much less in the hotel. If you want to enjoy Hong Kong with your family, yo do not need to stay in the room. There are many things out there to enjoy and taste in Hong Kong. I would recommend this family room in the Cosmopolitan Hotel to a family who want to enjoy Hong Kong at a reasonable price. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A hotel for the halloweeners"
This hotel is built alongside a cemetery. The back of the hotel where all the standard rooms are located is in close proximity, 15-20 feet, to the cemetery. The hotel do not disclose this for obvious reason, this is why I am taking the liberty to do it for them.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Cosmopolitan Hotel Hong Kong Dear Peter, Thank you for your comments. We regret to learn that our standard room with frosted window was not to your liking. While some of our guestrooms are facing the historical churchyard, most of our guestrooms do come with the great views of the city skyline and the greenery of racecourse. We hope you will have the chance to try one of those upon your return. As for the hotel location, it’s actually only an 8-minute walk towards the closest subway station and our Concierge is always happy to suggest the best boutiques and bistros to be visited in our neighbourhood. Alternatively, public transports like taxi, bus and tram are also readily available at the hotel doorstep. We look forward to welcoming you back for another promising stay soon.
"Potential Partrons of this hotel beware!!!"
1. This hotel is situated in front of a Cemetery where all of their "Standard" rooms are facing it and the lower floors rooms' windows are "Frosted" and locked so you don't see them except for the higher floors. The other side of the rooms in the hotel are the "Higher" catagory which means more expensive. 2. The bathroom smell like a Gym changing room […] that hasn't been clean even they did clean it every day that we have stayed (5 days in total). 3. The staff are very unprofessional, I had seen few customers complained at the lobby which were more than usual compare to other hotels that I've stayed in Hong Kong previously - after each incidents they would be laughing among themselves irrespect to the incidents and disregard other patrons at the lobby. They should have a disclaimer with their "Standard' rooom pricing that it is facing a Cemetery so all Patrons are aware and book it under their own discretion and not to find out after you have arrived there. "Nice But Distant"
The hotel is well priced for the quality of the room. We stayed in a standard room, their least expensive. It was small but comfortable and equipped like a true 4 star hotel, which is saying 5 stars in most places. Their deluxe grand rooms I understand are larger and have a few more perks...probably a good bargain cost wise as well. The only draw back […] is location but once you figure out how to get from Hotel to Subway it's actually quite easy to do and this only drawback disappears. The taxi to Central is also relatively cheap. The hotel shuttle works but you must wait in line and depending on your standards you will or will not like the experience. All in all, a good hotel, well priced and comfortable clean rooms with helpful staff. I've stayed in far worse in HK for much more money. I think this is a good find when you want a quick stay at a very affordable rate but still want a clean, reliable, comfortable and well equipped room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Friendly staff, nice hotel"
Hong Kong was the first leg of our Asian trip (actually it was our honeymoon). After travelling for nearly 30 hours we were obviously shattered and looking forward for a bit of resting. We were warmly welcomed by the staff which checked us in really quick and offered a kind upgrade to one of their newly refurbished suites as a goodwill gesture for our […] honeymoon. The room was compact (as I suppose is the norm in Hong Kong) but with adequate space for a couple. Bed was very comfortable, decoration was nice and we enjoyed a good view of the Jockey Club racecourse. As an Expedia Elite member I was offered 50% discount vouchers for breakfast (whose discounted price was fair). The breakfast buffet was good and with a fair variety of options. The only slight dissappointments from my perspective were (1) the location, which was a little bit far from Metro (only about 10 - 15 min but after walking all day long that seemed like an hour), in the middle of an ugly intersection and without good bars and restaurants nearby; (2) the price for in room internet seemed way too high! However considering the price we paid and the fact that Hong Kong is fairly expensive, I would say that Cosmopolitan hotel a good value for money. "Comfortable large rooms"
Comfortable large bedrooms, mine had a nice view of the Hong Kong Jockey Club race course. The staff are friendly and attentive and out of all the boutique hotels I have stayed in on the Island this is one of the better ones. The restaurant located on the first floor offers a wide variety of good quality Asian food. The ONLY reason this hotel has 4 […] stars instead of 5 is due to its location, it is difficult to get to anywhere or get back to the hotel either due to traffic gridlock around the hotel or the fact that the MRT is a 10 minute walk away.
