We were there on business that required us to go in and out of the Mc Enry Convention Center which was connected to the hotel. We had a corner room (801) and the view was BEAUTIFUL! I stay at Marriots because they are pet friendly. This Marriot charged me $75 pet cleaning fee bit I wonder why since the room we stayed in smelt like dog urine so apparently they are not cleaning well after people leave with their animals! "Great Location and Staff, Uncomfortable Mattresses"
For a Marriott, we expected a bit more luxury. Overall the hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We were there for an event at the convention center. It was very convenient having the hotel connected to the center. However, the hotel only had 4 elevators and with so many in attendance for the event, we often experienced […] long waits for the elevator. The other disappointing aspect was the size and condition of the mattresses. They were small (full, not queen) and were squeaky and hard. The rollaway for our son was more like a box spring than a mattress. We were able to change rooms, but it didn't make much difference. The beds were still uncomfortable and we did not get good sleep. We expected better of a well known hotel. If Marriott updates their mattresses we would stay there again, otherwise we will stay at one of the other nearby hotels. We went for the Big Wow convention. I loved that the doors were actually attached to the convention center. Valet was great. When we needed the car to get items out it didn't take too long. I was expecting to be nickel and dimed but it did not happen. The staff was so friendly and answered all of the questions we had with utmost sincerity and thoughtfulness. […] The bar scene was a bit loud but once we were in our room we didn't even hear a thing. It was a beautifully decorated hotel and I'm glad we chose to stay there. Sunday breakfast service was quite slow and I could see how others there were getting bothered by the lack of staff in Arcada but we took that with a grain of salt because all of our other experiences outweighed that. I only had one suggestion. When the staff at the front desk takes your bags they put them in a waiting area with paper numbers taped to the wall. My suggestion would be to have nicely framed artistic style numbers on the wall framed. I understand that they may be only temporary but why not make it more of a statement piece and have them framed?! Just a suggestion. Who knows, maybe I may see that upgrade when we return. My girlfriends and I have been staying in San Jose every year for the past 7 years while we attend the hairshow at the convention center.. This year we were thrilled to get a reservation at the marriott since it's so close to the convention center and looked like such a nice hotel.. Boy were we wrong! Besides the fact that the hotel would not give us […] the hairshow price because I booked online.. They were extremely rude! Upon arriving the valet guy dinged my girlfriends car door and tried to cover it up... We killed a gigantic cockroach that had made himself comfortable in our appetizer spread.. And our coffee we ordered in the morning never arrived.. And on top of that the hot tub was cold. So anyhow next year we will try our luck at the hilton down the street.. At 1am there were people in the hall yelling, the cops arrived and were dealing with the situation until 3am. Everything about my stay was fine, but once I checked in I was told that the power in y room would be out from 1am to 5am. No offer of discount or another room. I opted for Valet rather than bother with self parking, which I found was worth it. All the staff were friendly. We booked for one night, Sharks game weekend. Room was great, staff was friendly. The Valet service was nice as well. I would have given 5 stars if not for the children in the bar. "Poor service and long wait times"
We were there for a concert at the convention center so there were a lot of people staying there but it took 20-30 mins to get to the 11th floor...with 4 working elevators?!?! Nuts! Then when we checked out, it took 30 mins in line to give our valet ticket to the valet desk and another 30 before the car got there...it was insane! We've stayed at the […] Hilton in the past during the same types of events and have never experienced anything like that...and the Hilton is also connected to the convention center but on the opposite side. I was unable to sleep. We stayed in room 1515 on Saturday, March 1st. There was some sort of party with loud music going on outside our room in the hallway. I am a fan of all Marriotts. I prefer to book with only big name hotels. However, I was disappointed with this one. I booked for 2/15 for a one night stay. Apparently, there were multiple weddings going on this day, as well as a volleyball tournament next door at the convention center. You would think that by the number of reservations this weekend, […] they would have planned to staff accordingly. WRONG. My boyfriend and I waited 45 FREAKING minutes to get valet service!!! DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH GAS I WASTED?!?!?! We were stuck in the valet traffic for THAT long and when we were finally helped, NO ONE apologized for the wait time. I WAS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! Although the hotel itself was nice and neat, the room was just OKAY. Our sink was clogged, and when it finally drained 20 minutes later, all the leftover residue of my boyfriend's shavings, my face wash, our toothpaste, and much more were left in the bowl. DISGUSTING! As we were getting ready for our night out on the town, we grabbed the ironing board. It plopped right over, because it was broken. Although the hotel itself was nice, and the location was good, I don't know if I would stay here again. Like I said, I've never experienced this at any other Marriott. Enjoyed the hotel. Very comfortable beds and beautiful view of the city. Downfall is the $29 parking fee and restaurant/room service is very expensive.
