Genuine Expedia guest review
"calme et verdoyant"
a l’écart de la fureur de Phuket, cet endroit est reposant, la piscine très originale. Le personnel y est disponible et charmant. Idéal pour 2 ou 3 jours en début ou fin de séjour en Thaïlande.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this magnificent resort in Thailand. The Mangosteen Boutique Hotel offers private bungalows/chalets overlooking lush tropical gardens on a private hillside on the South end of Phuket Island. The owner of the hotel, Mr Von Keller is a very warm and approachable man, a hands on owner who knows the island and surrounds very well. He was a wonderful host who made us feel at home, comfortable and relaxed. As a designer I was very interested in many aspects of the layout and architecture of the resort ( very interesting to know that an Australian designer was involved in its construction). I would have loved to have had more time to experience the magic healing of the Ayurveda Spa Treatments but that will have to wait for a return trip. I can highly recommend the Seaquest Explorer speedboat tour to Racha Yai and Coral Island. It was arranged by the friendly and helpful reception staff at the hotel. It was a very memorable and special day, snorkelling, eating and being looked after by very professional crew on the boat. I would love to return to the resort for a peaceful hideaway treat ( but without the pressure of having to join the holiday club!!) Sue Parrott

My boyfriend and I bought a voucher on Groupon for a 7 night stay at the Mangosteen and we were extremely pleased to see it was without a doubt worth every cent we paid! Driving up to the driveway I was a little worried that it would turn out to be a dump, but was pleasantly surprised to see it looked just like the photos I looked up (in fact, it was even better in person!). On arrival we were given cool towels and a delicious drink, which was a delightful touch after getting off a 9 hour flight. Our room was spacious, beautiful and most importantly always kept cool. I thought the 'outdoor' shower/jacuzzi area would make mosquitoes an issue, but they 'fog' the resort often to keep those pesky bugs away. We were extremely impressed with everything the resort had to offer us, which included a complementary 30minute massage each, 24 hour access to the pool and gym, free daily shuttle busses to Nai Harn beach, cooking classes and a beautiful restaurant with delicious food! We ate at the restaurant most days, finding that the prices weren't as expensive as originally thought. There are many other restaurants and supermarkets just a short walk down the road also. I was impressed at how they pay attention to the small details, for example- the shampoo in our room was devine! Not just the cheap stuff they normally give you.. And you can also buy it at the resorts gift shop. Also, when even ordering a soft drink our glasses were decorated with a flower and piece of pineapple shaped like a butterfly. The staff were very friendly and helpful, they did everything possible to ensure we had a great/stress free stay by organising our tours, activities and transfers! Being 20 and 23 we were he youngest couple there, with most other couples being in their 40's/50's, but everyone was lovely! We meet some wonderful people (mostly while relaxing in the pool) and they too couldn't believe how lucky we were to be staying in such a beautiful place. We will definitely be returning !
"Beautiful resort, lovely staff, next to no kids or young idiots, relaxing, quiet but not snobby either! Perfect for us."

Memorable vacation, beautiful pool. We went there on a groupon voucher but the salesman was so friendly! Ian who spoke like Jamie Oliver... And he is a chef who worked for him was charming and we never felt pressured to sign to the holiday club, though we would have if we didn't have other major financial commitments in the next few month's. It seemed like a great club seeing as we had been to previous promotional deals where we have felt very pressured into signing up to but didn't offer the level of personal service and value of this one. The resort was mainly of couples 30+ so no bogans or herds of kids everywhere! Perfect in our eyes, restaurants a short walk away, massage and beauty salons also. We would be more than happy to stay here again! Free standing villas meant for a quiet sanctuary for couples or families. Nai harm is a beautiful beach, much cleaner and picturesque than Karon or Kampala where we stayed previously. Great work lads, happy days:). We will remember our week here and made some great friends.

We bought a groupon for this resort in 2012 and upgraded our room to a jacuzzi room as it was all booked out for the standard. The driveway on approach is a little scary, i was getting worried the pictures weren't right but it is lovely! On arrival we got a cold towel and drink, much appreciated after long hours of travel. The food was a little pricey but to be expected in a resort. Our room was perfect, the shower and jacuzzi was 'outdoor' which made mosquitos an issue but we just made sure to shut the other doors. The pool was by far the best part, an infinity pool, always very clean and with a pool bar. Being a couples resort it was nice and quiet and the staff were very helpful. Others in the resort were required to have a 'meeting' with the sales team about joining the mangosteen team but because of our age we didn't. Just something to be aware of. Overall a lovely time at the Mangosteen and met lovely people there. Would recommend it to others.

I took a leap of faith and purchased this holiday through Groupon in 2012. Our booking was made for Feb 2014, giving us something to look forward to this early in the year. Via email, I was able to upgrade my room to one with a jacuzzi, arrange airport transfers and purchase our breakfast vouchers - all handled very professionally and without complications. I was aware that there would be a marketing talk that we were scheduled to attend. We did this with Craig aka Cookie - he explained the details of the holiday deals and whilst it sounds absolutely reasonable and a great deal, we were not able to make this financial commitment as we have other obligations this year. We communicated that to cookie a few days later - no hassles, no pressure. For South Africans with the poor exchange rate, we really couldn't afford this, but the many Australians we spoke to said that for them Phuket is cheaper than holidaying in Australia. The resort itself is staffed with the most friendly, pleasant and helpful people that one could hope to meet. The food was of the highest quality. I would definitely recommend the thai chicken burger! On valentines day we did the Thai cooking course which was an absolute treat for hubby and myself as we love thai food and cooking. The spa was for me the highlight of the resort. There's a range of treatments to deal with specific issues or to just pamper yourself, both of which I did. The resort also operates a free shuttle service to the beach daily - a delightful experience - so geared for tourists. Food was also super at the beach. Tours were arranged and booked for me without any problems. The James Bond 4 in 1 tour is highly recommended for a great day out, once again with the friendliest tour company - you won't be disappointed at all. Back to the mangosteen - you can enjoy happy hours daily at the pool area. Beautifully designed pool where we spent many hours of relaxation and completely de-stressed. If you get the opportunity to go, please do so. Listen with an open mind and if this appeals to you, then great. We were certainly not disappointed with our week at the mangosteen. Thank you to everyone who made this holiday such great fun.

We'd read mixed reviews, especially around the supposedly strong sales pitch however this cldnt be further from the truth. The staff were very good, and the rooms beautiful with an idyllic backdrop. The pool was the standout for us, with stunning views. Also nearby Rawai is beautiful spot, not to be missed. Positives: Fantastic pool with bar and views Beautiful rooms with great bathroom Friendly staff Exceptional deal for a week stay at around $500 Negatives: Very poor road leading to hotel and bit of a distance to beach. Restaurant prices very high in comparison to similar quality food made us reluctant to use the restaurant too often.

We left the hotel on Saturday and had a great stay. I am a regular user of trip advisor and research places before staying. I was really interested in the reviews about the rude men who manage the place, it was almost like a tourist attraction to me hahaha. Well, I met the supposed rude men and they weren't rude at all, I think their responses to the feedback are tongue in cheek. This part of the holiday Was for us to relax so the further away from the tourist party throng at Patong the better. In my opinion Rawai is the only good part of the Island these days. So we enjoyed the comfort, clean and unique environment of our secluded room, loved the outdoor bathroom and the deck hammock (although they are quite small and I'm not). We also loved the pet cat that visited us regularly and the amazing pool area and great staff who speak quite good English. I found Jessica particularly helpful - I hope I got the name right, it was the lady who checked us in. Unfortunately, but not surprising for us, we didn't get t o try the restaurants or day spa, although we had great intentions the week flew by. We did find a little gem of a restaurant within walking distance (walk to the security box at the entrance, turn right, walk about 100m and you'll see a menu board, turn left and it's only about 20 m down. Great home made food less than 100 TBH. Opens at 10 for breakfast and stays open till 9pm. There's also heaps of massage places etc in the area. I've got my doubts about the accuracy of mini bar recording but wasn't going to have an argument over one dollar. They said we drank the wrong water but we drank the water from the bathroom. So if you worry about things like that ask them to remove the mini bar before you check in. Overall, great place, we would definitely return. Wow! What an amazing place. We spent a week there over Christmas and had the most amazingly relaxing time. We booked through a Groupon deal and had read differing reviews but our experience was one of the best we've experienced. We have both travelled widely for many years and we rate this resort and general areas as one of our best places we've been to. We had the pool to ourselves early morning and night and had the most amazing view from our secluded room. Out door shower amazing, food delicious, staff very friendly and helpful, spa treatments amazing (we bought the 500 min treatments and they were worth every cent). Can't wait to go back!

My partner and I booked a 7 night 8 day at the Mangosteen Resort, and what can I say, the Resort was amazing, the service, the staff, and the atmosphere there was breath taking....If I could stay their for good... I would do it. My partner and I are already organizing our next trip there, this time with our kids; I know my children will love the resort because of the swimming pool and the size of it... its about in total 1 KM. I definitely recommend Mangosteen Resort to anyone, its a resort that should be called HEAVEN .

My husband and I stayed here a few month ago and I thought it is important to write this review as an ardent traveller I always looks for the traveller reviews on trip advisors before making a booking. We bought a voucher for this hotel. In saying this we did get all the benefits that the voucher stated like the spa treatment ect. However we were joined on our second day by one of the sales people of the resort, who offered to purchase our breakfast and tell us about their timeshare options. We obliged him but being a young couple did not have the funds to purchase this offer. We took a day to get back to them because they can be quite insistent and then said no thanks, after which we felt quite odd at the resort. Another strange thing is that we paid for breakfast but they have signage saying no wastage and if you do waste it will be weighed and you will be charged, never heard of this in other 4 star resorts and it felt awkward as if you are on holiday you try different things and eat like it and eat it or not. Not a very large selection of food either. And breakfast is served in a non air coned environment, which was rather uncomfortable. The shower is outside and there were large cockroaches. Pool and spa was lovely. Complimentary dinner was also good. An okay stay.
