"If you like rudeness...."
The hotel has a convienient location to the Golden Gate Bridge. About 20 min from Fishermans Wharf. They did let us check in early but only after 3 people helped us. Other then that, there was nothing nice about this hotel. The staff and guests were rude. When we came back from San Fran, there was no parking and was told to either double park or park […] in a parking lot a block over. We doubled parked and were woken up at 6:30 in the morning to move our car which the car we were blocking was rude and didn't even say thank you. We only slept here and spent 95% of our time in SF. Next time, I will not be staying here. And we did see one bug in our room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cheap: you get what you pay for"
Area around hotel is industrial and I questioned its safety; hotel is small. Lobby, where the breakfast, such as it was, is served, was smaller than the guest room. Bkfst was coffee, cereal, dry mini-bagels, packaged pastry, with no place to sit. Travelodge has dropped significantly in my ratings.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Walking from one end of the room to the other was a bit like walking up a hill. There was more than a slight slant to the room which led to the feeling that everything was a bit off. The electrical sockets left us feeling weary as they were hanging off the wall, the lamps next to the bed were loose, and the shower sprayed water everywhere but forward. "You Get What You Pay For"
I was pleased enough with the room, until I laid down on the bed. It was unbelievably hard with uneven springs that you can feel, or at least that's what it felt like. I was happy with the location so I asked what it would cost to get the room for the following evening. I was told $79. I agreed and gave her my credit card. She wasn't there that evening […] when I returned but my key wouldn't work so I went to their office. I was shown a credit card receipt I needed to sign for $89 plus tax. I don't appreciate being lied to. My things were still in the room and I was tired. So, I paid it. I would not return to this hotel because of this. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I thought the staff was rude. And they didn't warn us they'd be doing construction at 9am right out side my room. The facilities are nice for the priceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Rooms were very clean and beds were comfortable. We asked for a room on ground floor because of knee issues but were given upstairs rooms. They were working on outside tile on ground floor by doors but noticed that the all rooms were filled by morning. Continental breakfast was minimum but had breakfast elsewhere. Room was very quiet.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Bed had a mattress in bad shape, we did not get a good sleep, Continental Breakfast is just coffee, no milk or juiceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"For where we needed to be it worked but....."
The room was fine and very clean. The bathroom was newly remodeled. The front desk staff were terrible - I waited 20 minutes to check I'm while the mgr. was on the phone. Folks two doors down spent the night, until 3:15 am outside partying - delightful. The front desk isn't staffed overnight.Genuine Expedia guest review
Room was gross. Smelled of stale smoke. Bedding had cigarette burns in it. Carpet was dirty, furniture was beat up. Bed was lumpy and sunk to the middle. Air conditioner did not work.Genuine Expedia guest review
I stayed at Travelodge in San Rafael it was wonderul. It was clean and the people at the front desk were great. It was also very quiet. Id recommend this hotel to any guestsGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good for the price"
Good for the price. Convenient location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Was not expecting much so was pleasantly surprised by the room. It was fresh , clean and had new carpet and linens. Room was quiet, could not hear the highway next door. Breakfast was very minimal and staff was not the friendliest but we didn't need much. Neighborhood was not the best but we felt safe. Overall was good for one night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good value for the area"
We stayed here for two nights while attending a local concert. I was shooting for something affordable and was willing to sacrifice amenities and ambience, but this Travelodge exceeded my expectations. Our room was small -- this is a typical older building with thirty rooms or so -- but had been recently remodeled and was spotless and very comfortable. […] I was pleased to see a fridge in the room without having to request it. It appeared at first that there was nowhere to park, but when we asked the desk clerk where we should put our vehicle, he immediately moved another car to make room for us. The surrounding neighborhood is industrial; there are a few fast food joints and mini-marts within a few blocks if you need to make a snack run. Continental breakfast included pastries, fruit, cereal and some relatively palatable coffee. It's not the height of luxury or anything, but it was perfectly serviceable, clean and safe for the price -- ideal for the type of trip where you're not really hanging around the hotel much anyways. "Got NO milk?!"
I'm not a "milk person", but this is funny: "breakfast included" here means-2 dry cereals, packets of oatmeal, icky danish, tang, and NO MILK! "Most people use orange (tang) or apple juice instead of milk on their cereal" - yeah, cuz you don't provide them with milk!! Not only that, but they don't even provide bowls or spoons! Seriously!! Oh, and no […] microwave or mugs, either. But, it wasn't ALL bad...the neighborhood was quieter than I thought it would be (luckily no action at the bar outside our bathroom window) and the bed, despite the valleys in the mattress, was better than expected, so I actually slept pretty well. Next time, I'll bring a protein bar. ^_^ Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Okay place to stay"
This hotel is in a good location off of 101 and 580. It is a definite 2 star with stains on the walkways and on the carpet in the room. Room was clean otherwise and surrounding area was okay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Average hotel, average neighborhood."
Convenient location in San Rafael, very close to Hwy 101 and Richmond-San Rafael bridge. Average condition, cleanliness. Reception took 10 minutes to answer bell. Skimpy breakfast was skipped because it didn't start until 7:30. No pool or spa.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This was my first time in San Francisco and I was on business in san quentin. The washroom light blew..so it was dark until the morning.I was very shocked to see that i had no towels in my room and had to wait for to select new ones from a pile. This was my first stay where I was overwhelmed by the incompetence and the conditions I stayed in.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Tiny and uncomfortable"
The only good thing was the coffee shop across the street. There was no fitted sheet on the bed so the bedding kept falling off the bed and revealing the bare mattress, eww when you think about it. The "continental breakfast" was coffee and 2 types of cereal...that's it! Also is a loud location right next to a busy highway. We won't be staying there […] again. The room was clean and recently updated. During our stay they brought in a new refigerator and microwave. The hotel was centrally located to San Francisco and the Muir Woods. Easy access to the freeway. The continental breakfast was ok.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Comforable, convenient, and inexpensive"
Small basic hotel, but it was comfortable and had all we needed for two nights. Wasn't expecting anything fancy from the low price. Friendly staff. Small continental breakfast was included (though we wanted to get out early and it tended to run about 10 minutes behind the time we were told it would start). Location is great for getting around to the […] Muir Woods and Point Reyes areas (by car). Also was surprised by many great restaurants nearby. Amazing Pho and Vietnamese place about a 7 minute walk from the hotel. I'd stay there again if I were in that area again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfy room. Bad room service."
We checked in Monday night and checked our Friday morning. During our stay we were pleased with the size of the room and the bathroom tile looked new. However the housekeeping was very poor. During the 3 days of our stay room service changed our towels once. And they did not make our bed. We had called the front desk Tuesday night to complain but then […] the next day when we returned to our room our bed was not made AGAIN.... Only until I had hone up to the front desk personally that we found the next day that house keeping FINALLY made our bed and changed our towels. The changes were made Thursday which was our last night there. Overall satisfactory is not a high score in my opinion. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A bit on the High Side (Expense Wise)"
This property is located off a major freeway, but access from and to the freeway is not simple. The property is what is to be expected. The rooms were clean (but lighting in the bathroom could be improved). Front desk staff were eager to assist and to provide extra services, if requested. Unfortunately, the price of the room was a bit expensive for […] the type of room provided. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"I'd stay again if I coudn't find aything else."
Room and building were clean and comfortable. The proprietor seemed distant and unconcerned. The surrounding area noisy, congested and the neigborhood was intimidating.I would not walk to any resturants or local businesses in the evening. I didn't feel as though I was in one of the most affluent counties(Marin) in the state.Genuine Expedia guest review
Biggest problem is that smoking is permitted in the rooms. My room was fairly smoky when I entered the room but the I got used to it and didn't notice the smell later in the evening.Genuine Expedia guest review
No pool. No breakfast. Tiny rooms. Windows to brick walls. Not as advertised at all.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"You get what you pay for"
This place is not nice nor is the service, but it was literally the cheapest place in Marin and that's what I was looking for after a move out here whilst apartment searching. I can't recommend this place unless you're really needing to stretch your dollar. The room smelled smokey, was only surface clean, the cable is odd with no channel guide, the […] parking lot filled up, walls were thin, some of the other guests were extremely sketchy...but again, you can't have high expectations for that price in this area. I would recommend the Novato Days Inn for a few dollars more unless you need to drive to the city during rush hour since it would add 30 minutes to that commute. The only redeeming part of the stay was that the nights counted toward the free night program on hotels.com. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Disappointed with the basics"
When I got to the room it smelled like I had walked into a burning cigarette. They informed me that it was a non-smoking establishment and didn't offer me another room - instead gave me a can of air freshener and asked me to bring it back in the morning. My suspicion is that particular room used to be a smoking room and they didn't change the carpets […] or paint. Even the bed cover smelled. Every hotel was booked so I had to stay. In the morning I took a shower and noticed an old, crusty rag hanging inside the shower curtain. I admit it would be hard for a cleaning person to see. So when I was leaving, I stopped by the office to tell someone - but no one could be found and I was in a hurry. There was an older woman changing coffee, but she didn't have a name tag or anything, so I left. After they cleaned the room that day, the rag was still there. By that point I had given into the fact that I was in a hotel where no one cared, so why should I. I'll let the next person deal with the crusty rag. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Convient to my work site"
Friendly day staff, very helpful. This is a very dated property in need of some new mattresses and a remodel (not just a facelift). Like almost all California hotels, it's star rating is over rated, but it is clean and located conveniently to many things. For work it was perfect, a place to clean up and rest. It is located very close to one of the busiest […] highways on the west coast, but the noise is mitigated by leaving the fan on while you sleep. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The so called private hot tub on their website does not exist. In addition the pool is full of dirt and obviously inaccessible. Poor experience overall.Genuine Expedia guest review
swimming pool has been filled in so that's not available any longer which was a real bonus to this hotel. Guy singing most of the night and someone slamming doors to shut him up in the early hours. But for the price not too bad.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Wrong address on web site"
Well first it took me awhile to locate the hotel because the site has W on end of street when it is exactly E. The room was comfortable and clean. The location is very close to the freeway. Easy to get to. Restaurants are nearby and the best coffee shop across the street. The room was tidy and comfy. The large safe, dorm fridge, and microwave were great to have. The neighbourhood is ok but I wouldn't wander around alone at night. The hotel itself is old but they've been working on renovating and […] I think it's looking better. No elevator so be sure to ask for a bottom floor room if stairs are an issue. Noise is at a very welcome minimum. This may be the quietest place I've stayed in. Cons: The office is extremely disorganized. My check in information was completely messed up (thank-you Hotels.com for getting that straightened out) and then they checked me out a day early. Thank goodness I came back to the room before 9pm. I spent another 30 mins trying to get back into my room again. My possessions were still there but it really messed up my evening plans. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The place was clean, tho it was an older property and could have used a facelift/repair. The door jam looked like it had been kicked in and repaired not replaced. "Hotel owners are dishonest."
I checked in to the hotel and the woman at the counter said " here is the card, pull up on the handle and it may work" the room was wide open! I reserved a room for 3 nights through hotel.com, the hotel called me the 2nd day and insisted that they would through my things out. I was obligated to give my credit card and they charged me 78.00 for a 53.00 […] room. When I got back after a hard day, the card wouldn't open the door, there were men screaming drunk and the desk person told them I called the police. They started banging on the door and I felt unsafe and quite scared, I asked the to please keep it down, the next morning there was a huge dent in my rental car. AND the hotel staff put all of my belongings on top of the bed, shoes everything. I recommend stay away from this place. I had a terrible experience. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Travelodge in San Rafael, Calif."
Motel was easy to find with GPS and right next to the freeway. Our room was 117 and located at the front of the highway and due to the rooms being located behind the Office bulkiding, the traffic from the freeway was not bothersome. The door to the office is locked fairly early in the evening and you can't get in and there is noone at the desk. We left […] at 5:45 a.m. and the office was locked also. The contintnetal breadfast was two types of cereal, rolls, coffee. Not much more. We felt that the room was clean and the beds were confortable.
