the hotel was very nice. staff was great. we were only there for a night, and just thought for the price we paid, there would be something "more". ie breakfast perhaps? it is "just" bay city.

Our Doubletree experience was absolutely wonderful. As soon as we walked in we knew we were in a special place. It was so elegant, so inviting, Every employee greeted us with a 'hello' and a smile. Our check-in took just seconds and we were on our way to our riverfront room. The room was immaculate and so tastefully furnished. The bathroom was roomy […] and had a wonderful shower and fragrant soap and shampoo. The hot tub was so relaxing. Its nice to see the hotel 'going green' with their recycling efforts. We shared the hotel with two weddings during our stay and other than seeing them in the lobby, we weren't otherwise aware of late music or partying guests in the living area. A special treat was seeing four large Great Lakes steamboats moving up and down the river. We hadn't expected that at all. We'll be back soon. Read more

The Double Tree...is a hotel...nothing more, although it is very high priced. Problems: Bathrooms have no fan...steaming and steamed up mirrors. Rooms are nice. There are no in room safes, you must use safe deposit boxes at desk. Not convenient for changing jewelry. They could also use lighted makeup mirrors for mature ladies. Staff are very friendly and cookies are good.

Great value for the money, great location, super friendly staff. My only complaints are 1.) I found a laundered sock in my bed that wasn't mine. At least it was clean . . . 2.) The pool was freezing cold. I would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Rarely do I say a bad comment about any place but this was a nights stay that I got very little sleep (and being that is what the hotel business is here for this was worth noteing). We requested waterfront and received a room with a view of "rooftop air conditioning units 15 foot outside the window" (room 229). It was a serious let down but not the […] biggest problem. The laundry room was the other side of the wall from our headboard so we heard machinery running all night. The in-room heat was extrembly loud and turned on repeatedly all night because we stayed here in the middle of winter. I can say the room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable too, so basically "noise" was the biggest hassle, if your a heavy sleeper you'd be fine. We just stayed 1 night, the room was average but having a refrigerator was a plus. The view was great since we were on the River side of the hotel. I'd stay again for a special occasion, but someplace cheaper if it's just for a place to lay my head.
