This is your standard tourist hotel. Clean and close to the action. There is the Southbank food court just opposite on the river walk and downtown is only a bridge walk away.

Hotel itself was alright. No on-site parking, but discounted parking available next door. The bed could've been a little nicer (not the most comfortable). Kitchenette was alright; appreciated having a microwave. As we were only in the hotel long enough to sleep (out exploring the rest of the time), it suited our needs.

The location of this hotel is great but that was the only good point. We were there over Australian Day weekend and the service was certainly lacking. Our room wasn't cleaned or the bed made. I had to ask 2 times for them to at least make my bed and empty the trash. They put a note on our bed that because it was a holiday only our bed would be made […] and the trash emptied . My husband and myself both enjoyed our 2 night stay at the hotel. I especially want to commend Angie ( one of the receptionists)who was most helpful. The location of the hotel is within walking distance to most of the tourist attractions.

The location is good. The cost is reasonable. There was a false alarm one night and everyone was forced out, no explanation was given. The bath room is small and the vent doesn't seem to work so there is a bit moldy small in the room. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful.

Travelodge Southbank is a Hotel situated close to the train stain and the Federation Square. From the hotel the footbridge over Yara River is very close. Form the footbridge you take the passage under the railway station and from there you are very close to the Federation Square. You also find very good dining places in the Central Place area which […] has multiple connecting small streets thru which you can get to Bourke Street the shopping district of Melbourne. Don’t forget to enjoy the Royal Arcades. Our room on the 5th floor was small, by American standards, but bigger than those you find in Europe. The best thing about this hotel is it's location. It's very close to the Yarra river and all the river side restaurants and also it's right next to Eureka towers. The hotel itself is average but it's definitely value for money when compared to it's location. I stayed here for just a couple of nights in February of this year. Had politely requested several months before to possibly get a room on a high floor with a view if possible. Was given a room on level 2 (!) with a view of a vent of some kind. The front desk staff was very friendly but there never seemed to be enough of them working. This is an excellent place and a definitely recommended stay. The food is a bit on the expensive side though - I am not sure if it all through australia. There is a fine pickup drop facility from the airport via Skybus and Transfer and you get picked up right at the hotel. This place is in a perfect location and surrounded by very high end hotels, making you feel even better about your choice. Staff was not knowledgable about tours and trips being advertised in their own lobby, so don't rely on them. Also, staff didn't know much about Melbourne in general. But they were friendly. We had a great weekend in Melbourne, staying at Travelodge. The location is very convenient. Loads of restaurants and foodhall right at doorstep. Brief walk to St. Kilda trams or over the bridge to main shopping area, trams & trains in all directions. Clean and comfortable

Solid, not spectacular hotel. Well located in Melbourne to Southbank and downtown as well a public transport. Hotel is very convenient to many things in Melbourne that we visited and reasonably priced. The only item we found relatively expensive was, as elsewhere in Australia, the cost of internet access. Hotel is a bit plain/simple, but certainly comfortable enough. After all, one visits a city and uses the hotel only as a base.

Prefer bedding to have a topsheet, and a spare blanket in the cupboard. Doona with no topsheet too hot. Hard to find main power switch - black square when others were white. Shower curtain too short - water all over bathroom floor. Location great.

As it was our wedding anniversary 48 years it was lovely of the staff to give us a complementary bottle of wine. We did have to ask for wine glasses as there were none in the room. These were delivered promptly by room service. Pricing was excellent.

This is a comfortable hotel. It has a microwave for those wishing to self cater. The location is fantastic. Right in the centre of Southbank, a stone's throw from dozens of fabulous restaurants and next to the sky deck. The buzz in the city the night we stayed was electric.

Only con: one night, lukewarm water for shower at very best.. Fairly cool shower, with little flow. Next night, hot water and water pressure was better. Bathroom setup is slightly odd - no shower wall but just shower curtains, so whole bathroom floor would be slightly wet when one showers. Pros: great location, quiet. Would stay there again.

Excellent location for easy walking access to city. Plenty of parking options nearby, although several are a lot cheaper than the Travelodge's recommended $12 under The Langham (that's $12 per entry, not an all day in/out charge). Kudos to the front desk staff - they were very friendly and helpful.

The accommodation was centrally located, within walking distance to Melbourne's CBD and attractions. Room was laid out comfortably and easy to negotiate. Only nitpicking, but grouting in bathroom a little tired. Pricing was very reasonable.

We have stayed at the Travelodge, Southbank previously without any problems. However, this time we were very disappointed. After checking in and told out room was not yet ready we stored our belongings in out friends' room who, we were told, were in the room next to ours. No problem we would collect our key card later that evening after the football. […] On returning to the hotel that evening we were given a card to enter a certain room. For some reason out previous room was no longer available and was now on a different floor to our friends. On entering this new room we were met with a very surprised lady. Naturally we notified reception and were told sorry the hotel is full so we dont have a room for you cEventually we were moved to another hotel in Melbourne but the whole situation was very messy. They couldn't explain where our original room went. Not very impressed having to move hotels late at night. Read more

Excellent location. Good, pleasant service. My only gripe is that the shampoo and conditioner was not restocked daily. Other then that I would definately recommend this hotel to people to want to stay within walking distance of everything in the city.
