Combe Grove Manor Hotel - Bath

The hotel is situated in beautiful countryside, just outside Bath. The excellent spa compliments the rest of teh hotel's facilities.

i booked because of the online description. when i booked, the price jumped and breakfast no longer was shown on the reservation. when i called over and over again to get them to comply with the agreed upon price, i was left on hold literally over an hour once, and hung up on twice. i called the agent (whose name i have) who had booked the reservation […] and he remembered what and at what price i had reserved-and he said he would do his best to fix the problem. he didn't. having spent much of the week before the trip on this-thinking it would be resolved, i didn't have time to begin a new search or i would have with the rudeness shown by hotels.com. the story worsens. the description of the hotel was no where near the reality. our room was not in the building shown on the photos but rather in a 1970s (?) outbuilding-not seen on the website of barcelo or hotels.com. the rugs were worn through, the woodwork scuffed, the furniture scratched and dented. no air conditioning and at 78 degrees outside, the room was stifling hot. i asked to be moved but was told there were no other rooms available. the "pub" was filthy. the grand outdoor stairs shown in the photos were crumbling so badly, they were taped off, unsafe and unusable. we were totally scammed as i am sure others would be.other guests were openly upset and complaining. one of the hotel staff claimed they are renovating, but there are no signs of that. we would have left, but having made the reservations from the u.s., they had our credit card # and would not reimburse us without a lead time of 2 days. it was truly a disasterous situation. i fault hotels.com and the barcelo. we have stayed in 2 other barcelos within the last year in scotland and were pleased. never again. Beautiful hotel but our room was a disaster. Bathroom wall was falling down and nothing was done to repair it and it smelled musty. Bed was like a half full airbed that fell flat after lying on it. Told management and nothing was done. Internet service was a ripoff. Rest of facility was beautiful that's why we were so disappointed. Amazing setting and adjacent facilities

This elegant former estate home exceeded our every expectation. The location, the view the room and the staff all were of the highest quality. The value for the dollar spent was Outstanding. I only wish I had booked 3 nights instead of just 2.

Lovely views and comfy rooms. Up in the hills over lokking Bath and good facilities. Fabulous gardens and surroundings. Bar was modern with a wide varity of drinks and good breakfast selection. I booked a night at the Combe Grove Manor in Bath. It was in a lovely position; lovely grounds, nice outdoor pool, big indoor pool and hydro beds, gym, lessons and a spa for treatments. Lots of parking. Room was an OK size and bathroom quite nice. The standard rooms are away from the manor house in a kind of chalet block with little patios each. No […] satellite TV. Only problem was the sat nav and AA directions take you to an entrance on a tiny track road that is no longer used so I think they should make it clear on their website where the place is. The bar food was quite expensive and the cooked breakfast was tiny. As I was on my own for only one night I didn't really make use of the facilities but I'll definitely go back for a couple of nights with someone else to use the tennis courts. NO HEATING? NO HOT WATER! NO SERVICE! VERY BAD FOLLOW UP

Beautiful location although not too near the centre of Bath. The breakfast and health facilities were excellent and varied and the staff were friendly and helpful. Extremely comfortable beds,although the bathroom was a little tired looking. Would love to stay again.

The hotel was difficult to find but once we did the location was fine. We arrived early so I asked if there was a room available the receptionist said no but once she saw my reservation print out she said actually your room is ready. It seemed as if the room had been allocated for us (the worst room!). The keys wouldn't work so had to go back all the […] way to cut the keys again. Once inside the room (when the door which had that unsecured feel let us in) the carpet was stained and had a very dirty look, room size was ok for the price, toilet was disgusting especially the bath it was very very dirty, I tried to phone reception (which consisted of a small desk) there was no answer... The bed had lumps and was so uncomfortable so were the pillows. The only good thing was the breakfast experience, the service ( think his name was Carlos) was very good and food too. I wanted to express my dissatisfaction at check out but wasn't asked how my stay was albeit she wasnt busy (maybe they already new the answer!) by the way that was too 12. The staff were great, but the hotel itself was definitely NOT 4* or "premium". The bedrooms had lovely views but were very dirty, with layers of dust above the doorframes and snail tracks in the hallway. Poor quality toiletries and thin, scratchy loo roll added to the cheap feel of the place. Instead of hand towels, we'd been given bath mats!! No face […] towels, which was also disappointing in a supposedly 4*, very expensive hotel. Couldn't make a cup of tea as the kettle was completely full of limescale; it was unusable. Flower beds had no flowers, just lots of weeds. I felt sorry for the people awaiting spa treatments as their waiting area was also the entrance to the block of rooms separate from the main house. Very draughty and unwelcoming. One lady did say how much she enjoyed her treatment. The swimming pools (indoor and outdoor) were okay, but nothing special. As I said at the beginnning, the staff were great, but great staff can't make up for a dirty room with cheap toiletries and scratchy towels and loo roll. Set in the beautiful countryside very close to Bath, this hotel has the makings of a nice resort. For the low price the stay was okay. However, the quality of the beds, the bedding, the condition of the room itself still needs to be improved before this place could be called premium. I had a lovely time at the hotel. The breakfast was fantastic. The rooms were slightly dated but the cheap price reflected this. Would definitely recommend this hotel. The only problem I had is that after having paid hotels.com for my 1 night stay. The hotel also charged my creditcard. I have emailed the hotel on numerous occasions but as yet still […] no reply. The setting is attractive, being well outside of the City of Bath, but it is a typical wedding hotel but may not be best suited to regular hotel visitors. This is a nice and sleepy hotel and has a great breakfast but it suffers from being dated and needs significantly better housekeeping.

From our check in through to the check out, there wasn't a bad word to say about this hotel. The staff, the room, the service all outstanding. My only beef, and it is a small one, is that two single beds pushed together does not make a double bed. Splash out on doubles! On most counts couldn't fault the hotel, friendly staff, good (but pricey) food. Beautiful surroundings, excellent health club. Staff were a bit rushed at second morning breakfast so many people had to ask for what they wanted and the rooms were a little tired, bathroom with old fittings and bedroom had some wallpaper hanging off. This hotel has branded itself as 'premium'. This would be a fair description in terms of the facilities available and the service provided. Unfortunately the bathroom was very shabby, there was barely any paint left on the skirting boards and it was clearly in need of a re-furb. The Hotel was not clean, the carpets looked like the cleaner had been off for weeks. The dirty linen was stacked outside of a fire door, this hotel was not manage very well!

Conveniently located outside Bath, the hotel was a lovely old building and grounds with plenty of charm and personality. A very quaint experience combined with an antique feel about the place.

Hotel is on a very steep hill about a 45 min walk into Bath. Very nice views and lesure facilities are very good. We stayed in one of the annex rooms. The room was a bit of a disapointment as it looked really old and tatty. It could of done with a good clean. We found the staff very plesant and helpful and our breakfast was good. The Bar prices were […] very high. On the whole they charge an awful lot of money for a very substandard room. We have had better and cleaner rooms in a travel lodge. Shame really as the hotel could be spectacular but needs some money spent on it as it looks like it is falling apart. Read more

our party all had rooms with a patio area with beautiful view of the countryside the sports facilities were great, tennis courts inside and out, pools inside and out. it was near to Bath and a really lovely village worth a visit Bathampton

I didn't plan to stay the night in bath so I booked a room in the evening the same day. The room was ok but somewhat outdated and no aircondition. But a couple of chairs outside on ground level was positive. I therefore ordered a bottle of wine in the evening but unfortunately the list mostly contained rather cheap unknown new world wines. The hotel […] is not along the main road but has a good location for those who seeks peace and relaxation in a rural area. But you need a taxi in order to reach central Bath and restaurants. One positive thing was the really helpful and friendly staff. A really pleasant and positve experience. Nice garden with a beautiful reception. But I would rather bring my mum than my girlfriend to this place. But then again I might not be in the target group either. So I might pick another hotel next time visiting Bath. Read more

This hotel is in a stunning location near Bath. We stayed for one night and ate dinner in the bar and breakfast in the main restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have no complaints. Das einzig Schöne an diesem Hotel sind die Architektur und die herrliche Lage. Das Frühstück ist zwar Standard, wird aber durch den freundlichen Service aufgewertet. Generel wird versucht mit einem Minimum an Personal auszukommen, das Mobiliar ist veraltet. Im Badezimmer hingen schmutzige Handtücher, die erst nach Stunden ersetzt wurden. Der Wellness- […] und Fitnessbereich war meistens geschlossen, Beautyanwendungen waren schon Wochen im Voraus ausgebucht. Nach 21:00 werden nur noch Sandwiches serviert, die jedes Kind appetitlicher zubereiten kann. Eine tolle Enttäuschung, wenn man sich auf einen schönen Relax Urlaub freut. Read more

Hotellet har en suveræn beliggenhed, dejlige omgivelser og faciliteter. mad og servoce var ok, det eneste minus var at værelser var meget nedslidte, vi forventede luksus, men vil nærmere sige middelkomfort på værelset.
