The rooms are disgusting! Towel and sheets are very old and worn! Would never stay there! I stay in hotels weekly and I have never encountered such a dirty place!

so glad we chose to stay at the Hotel Caravelle- the location on the harbor/boardwalk is outstanding. our visit to St Croix was very enjoyable with the help of the staff at hotel giving us all sort of advice. i would stay there again and have recommended it to business associates

Check-in and check-out were a breeze. A/C was not on when I came in and room was quite warm. The remote control for the a/c was not easy to understand and took me several minutes to figure out how to lower the temp. and increase the fan. Did not like the fact there was no vent in the bathroom. The room was quite large and the decor was nice - sort of […] like an old dutch colonial style. The water heat was solar powered. Getting up at 6AM for an early morning meeting meant the water was "almost" lukewarm. Didn't like that but it got my eyes open. By 11:30AM, the water temp. was what hot should be like. Not enough easily accessible power outlets that were not being used. Rum Runners Restaurant was excellent. Food and service were both great. The hotel is an older building and it is showing its age. Hotel Caravelle is a great place to stay while visiting in St Croix. Located directly on the pier in St. Christiensted, the quaint hotel has lovely rooms and great service. The staff was very helpful and accommodating; but the room itself was old, the tile was broken and the grout was dirty. The water in the shower never got warm, the beds were like sleeping on bricks. There was hair in the sink. Yuk!

Old and tired, needs a total re-do. The shower was difficult - hard to get hot water to flow. they had to reset my room key each day, a fact I discovered after walking up two flights of stairs each time.

I loved this hotel. OK so its not the Ritz, but lets face it, you're visiting the wrong island if you want the Ritz. The fact that this hotel opens out on to the boardwalk was excellent. 5 meters away from the hotel was the scuba dive boat and shop, the tour boats, the ferries to Protestant Cay. This is an old hotel but it is right on the water and the water view was great. Nice size rooms , good shower and it seemed clean. The staff are hard core island people, not that friendly or helpful. I had to kill a water bug which are probably common. However the food and boardwalk all but made up for the problems. No one forces a hotel on you. You get what you are looking for and that's what I found at Hotel Caravelle. Hotel Caravelle is small, cozy, rustic caribbean styling, with an outdoor pool and a backyard ocean to compliment it. My wife, cousin, and myself found this hotel to be very suitable for our needs. The rooms were good size for standard accomodations, […] with adjustable climate control, basic cable with HBO, refrig, ironing board, room safe, and as they stated shower stalls instead of baths. As a native New Yorker, all I need is a bed to lay down on a night or at leisure after sampling local cuisine and downing rum concotions. The employees were friendly and helpful when addressing certain issues, especially since our trip unfortunately was to bury a love one. The staff was attentive to our needs and treated us like family. For those with the negative comments --- get real. Bottom line is, if you want a "Resort" then go to a "Resort", but if you want a place with charm, then give the Caravelle a try. Read more

Our staying at Hotel Caravelle was delightful. The room was very comfortable with a spectacular view of the marina in Cristiansted. The hotel is located at the heart of the town. I have never in my life met such a helpful and friendly staff. The girls in the reception took care of us extraordinary well by recommending us local food places, things to […] do in town…. Wi-fi is available in all rooms and the reception has a computer with internet access too for guests. The swimming pool is open the entire day and night and the restaurant provides great food and great opportunity to meet the locals. During our staying, tropical storm Irene hit the island and the lights went off in the entire town and in the hotel but for the reception. During that night, the manager tried her best with the guests by providing candles, hot coffee and a good talk in the reception office where most guests gathered during that night. The Hotel Caravelle is located in the center of Christiansted on the port -- a lovely location. Visiting in the summer, however, means the room air conditioner can never really beat the heat. The computer system was down on my arrival, and it took 45 minutes to check in. The hotel's restaurant was a disappointment as well.

I loved the location of this hotel, right on the boardwalk near several bars, stores, restaurants, sight seeing and water sports. The court yard is pretty and very comfortable The swimming pool is set on a rooftop, o that was so nice, ou could swim in private of visitors on the street and yet you could over look the sea and surrounding atmosphere. Rum runners, the hotel restaurant, is right on the water serving lots of yummy drink choices, would have liked some island fruits in the eve, however they don't serve fruit in the evening. The hotel rooms were clean and modest. The paint colors were cheery, the beds not so comfy, was able to feel the springs. Our room had a convienent refridgerator that really came in handy. The only "complaint" that I had about my stay was that the A/C unit leaked badly. Becasue of this, there were times that I had to turn the unit off in order to stop the leaking, which made the room very hot. Other than this minor issue, my stay at the Caravelle was perfect.

At first the room I was given had a roof leak and toilet would not flush but when I notified the front desk, I was immediately given another room. The room had a strong smell of carpet deoderrizer since the carpet had just been shampooed but everything else was fantastic.
