"Great value, beautiful views"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
We enjoyed the convenient location(right on the Endicott campus). Literally a short walk to the beach. Staff was helpful and friendly. Bed was listed as Queen size but it was actually a full size which was a bit small for the two of us. Otherwise, very enjoyable and would stay there again.
"Very nice hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Our son goes to college close by and we would stay here again. Very clean, staff was very nice and the breakfast was a bonus. Easy to get to and plenty of places to eat close by.
"close to airport"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012

"Great Hotel, Need Some Unscented Bath Product"
Everything was great, only complaint was that all the soaps and bathroom items were VERY scented. If you have sensitive skin bring your own soap/shampoo. That is just a minor complaint. The hotel, staff, location and everything else were amazing. I would highly recommend this hotel.
"Wonderful weekend stay in Boston"
The Back Bay Hotel offers a great location and the luxuries of a boutique hotel. Staff was friendly and the room was clean. A bit on the small side and the street noise was a bit much on a Saturday night. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel.
"Located near station"
We chose this hotel as it was near the Back Bay Station and reasonable walking distance to the Centre of Boston. We had a room with coffee making which was great.Would have been nice to have had a brwakfast included option but we got croissants froma nearby supermakrket and enjoyed breakfast in our room. Was a very nice hotel.
"Back Bay Hotel"
Hotel provided a great place to gather for family get together- good bar with very good bar food - nice accommodations and staff were very pleasant and helpful when we had special requests. Off the main avenue but close walk to everything - would stay there again.
This hotel was comfortable, clean, close to sights with a courteous staff. We would stay again
"Great HOTEL.... poor room service"
I always stay at this hotel... 2-3 times per year. I love it. It's clean, luxorious and is in a great location. All the staff is very friendly and helpful. However - the room service is poor quality... it's considered a 4/5 star hotel....and I ordered room service on 2 occasions and it was VERY SLOW. The first occasion was for a cup of limes (i was […] drinking in room and needed to mix liquor), I waited 30 minutes and nobody ever came, so I ended up leaving for the night to go out. It may have come after that? The following day I ordered some trash bags and that took 22 minutes to get there. Aside from food being ordered which may take time to cook, prepare..etc I think room service should be no more than 10 minute wait. It takes 2 minutes for staff to run up to your room and drop something off. 30 minutes is ridiculous. Read more
"Great Location!"
I picked this hotel based on location and other on-line reviews. Neither disappointed. The hotel is a short walk from the Back Bay Amtrak Station as well as a short walk to Newbury Street, the T, the South End, the Shops at Copley and Prudential and the Public Garden/Boston Common. The hotel staff is lovely and accommodating. I needed a sewing kit […] - someone brought one within 5 minutes. We accidentally left an iPhone charger in the room; by that evening it had been located and was ready to send to us. The things that prevent me from giving the hotel a perfect score are minimal: -- the hotel has Frette linens but still has an old school Panasonic cassette(!)/CD player in the room. -- the maid removed our bathmat and never replaced it -- the overall lighting in the room is extremely dim; the lamps could have taken 3-way bulbs but did not have them. Overall, it was a lovely stay and I would return! Read more
"The Back Bay Hotel--One of the Best Hotels"
My wife and I would rate the Back Bay Hotel as one of the best in which we've stayed--and we've stayed at some good ones. We won't consider staying anywhere else on our next trip to Boston.

"The Back Bay Hotel **right in the heart of Boston*"
Great hotel and great location. The Back Bay is located only a quick walk away from all the great parks and shopping. Many restaurants surround the area with delectable food. Highly recommended.
"The Back Bay Hotel in Boston"
We found a great deal online and stayed at the Back Bay for one night during Columbus Day weekend. Had a fantastic experience from start to finish. Friendly, helpful staff, beautiful building (inside and out), comfortable, luxurious room (with a bonus small chaise sofa that was perfect for my son to sleep on when he and his sister wouldn't stop bugging […] each other!). Valet parking is a bit pricey, but hey, it's Boston. Very conveniently located--an easy walk to the Public Garden and other attractions, as well as several restaurants. Read more

"loved it!!"
The staff was so friendly and the place was so clean. If I were to complain about anything is was the air conditioning in the room, it got very cold and was blowing on my head. I couldn't figure out how to adjust the temperature, to complicated. Other than that...I loved it and would stay again.
"The Back Bay Hotel -- in the center of things"
The staff was helpful, the bartender at Cuffs was great although the security guy was a little scary. Loved the location and the room. Funny decor in the elevator and a coffee maker in the room would have made it perfect.
"Back Bay Hotel Review 9/2011"
My recent stay at the Back Bay Hotel was enjoyable for the most part. The only real disappointment was the 7 am jackhammers across the street. There was no sleeping in, that's for sure. While it is a somewhat temporary situation (due to building reno), it is bothersome and would help if the noise didn't start quite sooo early. On the positive side, […] I ordered in room service for breakfast both mornings and it was deilicious! Very impressive especially, for a hotel breakfast. And the coffee was good too! Hotel could use a bit of a bightening up though. At least in the rooms, if not the lobby. The decor was a bit dark and heavy for my liking. Read more
"The Back Bay Hotel in Boston is excellent"
My family of four stayed at the Back Bay Hotel for three nights. We felt very welcome at the hotel. The staff at the restaurant where we ate breakfast each day were congenial and helpful. In addition the hotel made arrangements on short notice for a party of 16 people for lunch one day. I have no complaints!
"BACK BAY HOTEL ****"
This is just a lovely hotel in the middle of everything. The staff are warm and knowledgeable. The rooms are terrific as are the public spaces and the restaurants.
"Close to everything!!"
I went to Boston for a conference at the Hynes Convention Center. The Back Bay Hotel is close to everything. The Convention Center was within walking distance. A shopping center, a grocery store, and several places to eat were very near-by. Also, the subway system was a very short distance fromthe hotel. Highly recommended!

"Looking for "Hospitality" not just a hotel?"
The people at this hotel were fantastic, from the front door greeting, to check-in, to extra care delivered to the door, to helping at check-out! When my flight was cancelled last minute, the concierge had me rebooked on a new flight before I could call home and arrange childcare... The room was lovely, bed comfortable, and what better location is there […] to Boston overall? I ran a few blocks to the river, had dinner in the South End, and attended business meetings in Copley. I'll keep coming back here. Read more
so beautiful! friendly staff. lots of areas to be cozy on the property to sit and talk.
"Excellent!!"
Stayed here for an extended weekend and was very happy with the hotel. Two things that made things a little less enjoyable was that there was not a coffee maker in the room. Dunkin and Starbucks are right down the street. And no mini-bar. Other than that great hotel!

"Back Bay Hotel has great staff"
Excellent hotel with nice rooms, central location, and extremely efficient and polite staff. We had to move to a different room through no fault of the hotel itself and the staff could not have been more accommodating. Will stay here again on next trip to Boston.

"Back Bay close to everything, but far enough away."
The location of the Back Bay Hotel is fantastic. When we arrived at 2am on a weekend night the neighborhood was CRAZY with people our leaving the bars. But the hotel was just further down the street to really avoid all the noise and people. The building is beautiful and the rooms had the largest bathroom I have ever seen in a hotel room. And very c […] lean. Read more

"Comfortable, quiet room"
Recently stayed two nights at The Back Back Hotel. Room was small, but very comfortable and clean. My 6th floor room was also very quiet. Staff was friendly. I'd stay there again assuming price is competitive with other similar hotels.
"The Best Hotel in Boston! :)"
I really loved this hotel. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to visit Boston. Great location, lovely staff.

My adult daughter and I took a vacation trip to visit another daughter attending a summer session at BU. We decided to splurge and stay at a nicer hotel and we were not dissappointed. "Back Bay Hotel in Boston - needs new mattresses"
We loved the location but were dissappointed on a few things. There was a parade the day we arrived and the streets were blocked. We were told by valet to drive around until parade ended (90 minutes later). We parked at a garage and walked....no compensation provided by hotel even though we mentioned we had to walk with luggage from a garage. The room […] was very clean with an enormous bathroom. The linens were high end but the mattress visibly sagged when you sat on the edge. Both of us woke up with terribly sore backs. My friend lost her wallet in the elevator which was turned into the front desk. We asked at the desk if a wallet was turned in and were told no. Then a person in the lobby noticed us looking around the floors and in our luggage and asked if we were looking for a wallet. He said he had turned it into the desk. We returned to the desk and were told again that nothing was turned in. We pointed out the person who said they had turned it in and then guess what.....the front desk found our wallet. I was not impressed. Read more
"Private, quietly elegant, a gem of a hotel"
We loved our 4 night stay at this hotel! We arrived much earlier off the cruise ship than anticipated, and after giving us a choice of rooms, we chose the very private and spacious room, 1 of only 3, on the 10th floor, the top. In our choices they told us about the room with a view which on tues again would have noisy construction, so we could pick. […] Our room was so roomy, with such a private entrance it felt more like our own condo! Very quiet up there on 10 too. This hotel was perfectly situated near two "T" stations, and only a short walk to Boston Common, Copley Square, the Boston Public Library, Cheers bar, Freedom Walk start, and theatres. Heather, our concierge was fabulous and helped us plan a trip to Salem one day, and use the subway and commuter trains. She referred us to a great little down-home coffee/sandwhich shop, Billy's, only a short walk from hotel. All staff was cheerful, always greeted us with a smile and opening doors or elevators. The complimentary water bottles each day are a BIG plus considering what some hotels try to charge for them!! Turn down chocolates are the best I have had. cleaning service to the room was immaculate, they even gave us new towels for the ones we tried to hang up and re-use! The hotel is quite perfectly situated in Boston for seeing all attractions and getting around town. We were able to easily print our boarding passes in the business center free of charge. We ate in the Stanhope Grill (sp?) but off the other bar menu. food was prepared excellently, tasted great and service was just right. Room had bathrobes, and slippers, lots of towels, and pillows, and room darkening shades so you could sleep in... and it stayed dark! Small touches like turning on soft music and placing slippers bedside for you for turndown was such a nice touch. Big closet for clothing, and space to put suitcases. Good size shower and bathroom, and a sink with room to store your stuff on it. The only thing it was missing was a pool! but we didn't Read more
"What's with no coffee in room or lobby??"
Very nice hotel in a fabulous neighborhood in Boston but I it is the first hotel I have stayed in at this price range that did not offer free coffee in the lobby or at least provided a small machine in the room. Regardless of room rate, coffee is a cheap perk for the hotel. When asked about it, hotel personnel responded that only 'upper tier' rooms […] have coffee makers. That's ridiculous!! Read more
"Back Bay Hotel in Boston - great place to stay"
Several of my co-workers have stayed at this hotel and recommended it for my trip to visit our Boston office. Really nice hotel, and I love that it's set in the old Boston Police Department headquarters. The room was very comfortable, although a bit small. The staff were fantastic: friendly and helpful. My only gripes were the LOUD A/C fan and that […] housekeeping didn't show up until after 3pm (when I was sick and just wanted to sleep). Other than that, I was quite happy and would recommend the Back Bay Hotel to anyone who asks. Read more

"Memorial Weekend"
The staff are so pleasant at the hotel and so helpful. AC a bit on the noisy side though - woke us up a few times in the night.
The hotel is well situated and the service was very good. We found the room that we had booked unsatisfactory. It had two double beds but no space and no second chair. We like having a small table and two chairs for room service dining and a coup of tea at the end of the day. This was not possible. Also no tea or coffee maker. We did get that upon request. […] We were given a better room the next day, but still had to ask for a second chair. The restaurant - Stanhope Grill -- was pretty awful but the staff ultimately did not charge us for the meal. In short, complaints are generally addressed without argument but it would be better not to have any. The rooms seem more suited for one person, despite the double beds. The fact that two people might want to sit down together seems alien to the hotel. Given the type of hotel it wants to be, it needs to address this. I would recommend the hotel but with the above caveats. Read more
"Back Bay Hotel"
I thought the hotel was clean and updated nicely. I felt safe in the surrounding neighborhood while I walking to business and personal destinations. The hotel staff was professional and courteous. I would highly recommend the hotel.

"Back Bay Hotel vs Copley Mariott"
We booked our stay(with another online site) well in advance at The Marriott @ Copley. I tried to add one addn'l night to our stay and was unaware that our rate would increase over $100/night. Clearly this was unacceptable and the hotel refused to honor the original rate. So we set off to find another hotel in Boston so we could attend out daughter's […] graduation. We used hotels.com and found The Back Bay Hotel. Let me tell you, this was such a blessing in disguise. We arrived super early due to a red-eye from CA and they made every effort to make our room up early. The room was gorgeous with every little detail well thought out. From a real soap dish(sounds odd but seriously don't you hate a soggy counter top with a bar of soap?), to a movable magnifying mirror, lush bathrobes, heated towels, amazing walk-in shower and separate bath, luxury beds, flat screen TV, etc. Thank God we didn't stay at The Marriott. Love, love, love The Back Bay Hotel. Will stay again for sure! Read more

"Fabulous hotel - 5 star staff!"
The staff at the hotel were the highlight - extremely friendly and accommodating. It was so refreshing to not deal with the rules and nickle-and-diming of the larger hotels. The two free bottles of water in the room are an example of their thoughtfulness. The hotel hair dryer has a diffuser! They were beyond reasonable with the check-out time. The lobby […] is lovely and modern and I look forward to returning to this hotel in the future. Read more

"Hair Dryer with Diffuser!"
I'm confident others have told you that this is a very nice hotel, so for fellow people with curly hair, the hair dryer is full size with a diffuser. This is fanastic, since this is the most awkward thing to have to pack.
"Boston's back Bay Hotel Perfect Location"
We love being close to the South End, Newbury Street as well as the Pru Shopping area. We like to walk so walk to Symphony Hall and the Gardens and Charles Street as well. The staff is great. Wish they had complimentary coffee early in the morning, otherwise perfect!
"Clean hotel, friendly staff, A+"
My two children and I were in town for a few days and had a very enjoyable stay. The room was clean, beds were comfortable and well made, room service was speedy, and the hotel staff was friendly and accomodating, cheerfully removing the fee incurred by my 8-year old accidentally selecting a TV show that was not watched. The desk manager even gave the […] kids some flower packets, and the bell man gave a toy police car to them. The valet was speedy with the car when called. Many thanks to the staff for making it a nice stay. Location was a little challenging (but that's Boston for ya!), overall it was a lovely visit. Read more
