"Perfect for the night."
The staff at the hotel was wonderful. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. The room itself was average and looked out on to an office building. The three points that were disappointing were that the hotel was in the middle of renovations, there was no hairdrier in the room and the housecleaning staff came to our door at 8AM and woke the […] kids. "Do not stay here"
We stayed at this hotel last Sunday night. Hotels.com DID NOT tell us that the hotel was under construction. They automatically add an 18% tip and $4 delivery fee to room service. What is the 18% for if you have to pay to have it delivered? The steak was fatty and tough. In retrospect we should have gone out to dinner. There are ten floors in the […] hotel - TEN and we were put in the one directly above the construction. Hammers and drills woke us up early in the morning and continued throughout the day. Then, to top it off, management did not tell the cleaning staff we had paid for late check out and the cleaning lady barges in. Horrible stay. The hotel is in the midst of rennovations with upgrades on the rooms to begin with the new year. This is needed as the rooms are a bit tired; old carpeting, cigarette holes in the drapes which you would not expect in hotel of this type. I found this hotel to offer excellent service. I brought my dog with me. Usually when you bring a dog you are put in a remote section of the hotel. I assured the staff my pooch did not bark and would be out most of the day. I was given a lovely room near the elevator. "Not worth the price"
We booked through Expedia a "deluxe" room at Loews. Everything was ok, but a far cry from "deluxe" at a 4 star hotel. As it happens, we also stayed (earlier in the week) at a different 4 star hotel in the same neighborhood in Boston; that one was 10 times better than Loews. The main issue is that while the lobby is nice, the rooms are dated, relatively […] small, and nothing more than a standard 3 star hotel. The price was extremely high for what we got. To get an idea of the "4 stars" of Loews: there was an empty fridge in the room (yes the mini-bars are a rip-off, but arriving late at night in the room they have a certain appeal). The only thing in the room was a 7$/bottle of water. Compared with the other hotel (again 4 star deluxe), where we got complimentary water, and well stocked mini-bar (not to mention slippers, etc.) All in one, an ok stay, but I would definitely chose a different hotel next time. Hotel was nice, but more of a 3 star. Does not compare to other Loews properties. Far overpriced for this location. Location ok,near shops and restaurants. Also no valet or parking instructions, had to search for parking, ended up blocks away and had to lug our suitcases a few blocks back to the hotel. "Well located hotel"
I was under the impression that this was a five star hotel. Unfortunately, it isn't. It is a four star hotel. For the price we paid per night, it was not worth it. First of all, the rooms are tiny. The price does not include breakfast which is available a la carte daily and a buffet on Sunday. We ended up walking to the Marriott and having a great buffet […] breakfast for the same price as one entry a la carte. Seems at Loews you need to ask for the turn down service (which is free) or else they would not perform it. Of course, you are not asked if you would like it. You are supposed to know it. The first room they gave us was terrible. It was way in the back and we had trouble sleeping due to the noise coming from some club or something. "Not what I expect from a Loews property"
It now makes sense that this hotel was at least $100+ cheaper than some of the other hotels in the 4-star class that I was looking into. Overall, it was fine but I expected more from a Loews hotel. I only realized that they recently bought this hotel from another company (used to be the Back Bay hotel). The sheets and towels were old and the room smelled […] like someone had once smoked in there. Check in was great. However, the concierge wasn't very knowledgeable and couldn't make any great brunch recommendations for us.
