"Perfect Stay"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
The Westin was perfect! Stayed in a suite with friends for a weekend away. The hotel was clean and the service was great. The location is perfect for walking and dining in the old port and totally accessible if you want to spend time downtown or further North. No complaints!

Price at the restaurant was high ei $16.00 for glass of house wine. Gym under reno and card for other facility didn't work
"A Returning Guest"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 3, 2012
Staff is friendly, restaurants are wonderful, location ideal!
"Perfection in Old Montreal"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 3, 2012
We only stayed the one night at Place d'Armes hotel, on our way back to Vancouver and then home, but we wished we had more time, and will return. The hotel staff were both welcoming and efficient (not a combination one often finds), and the hotel itself was immaculate in every respect. The room was flawless in its design, the bed was soft enough to be comfortable, but not so soft as to feel like one is clambering from a bean-bag, upon rising, (as I found in so many hotels in the States!) I particularly appreciated that the designers had eschewed a bath/shower combination in the large bathroom, and installed a large, stone-clad, walk-in shower with a beautiful glass shower screen, instead. The location of the hotel was perfect for exploring Old Town Montreal by foot, which was just what we wanted to do, since we only had the one night. When we checked out, we left our luggage with Place D'Armes, mentioned when we would return for our flight and, when we did, a taxi was already awaiting us. Immaculate service.

"Wonderful hotel just too warm"
the heat felt like it was on all day and all night made sleeping kinda difficult but the location was great near lots of trendy bars and restaurants
"Hotel St Denis-good value"
We were pleasantly surprised with our very large room. Not so impressed with the view of the roof and room across the way. No problem since we were in a part of town within walking distance to many shops, restaurants and the Old Port area.
"weekend getaway!"
I thoroughly enjoyed my first time in Montreal. I liked the location of the hotel a lot and think that helped make the stay so easy. The hotel is close to metro stops. And bars and restaurants are just s few blocks away. The room was clean and spacious.

"Hotel St. Denis - Good Value, location"
This hotel isn't anything all too fancy, but you can't complain. This is value at its finest. Location is good...close to the old port and a short metro ride from dowtown (or about a 20 minute walk). Free internet worked well, lots of television channels in both English and French. Bed was comfy. Front desk attendant was helpful. As long as you're […] not expecting this to be a four or five star hotel, you'll be very pleased. The lobby is very small, building is well kept but you can definitely see that it was designed in 1920. Was very pleased with how much I spent though. Read more

"A Weekend at St Denis"
For my first time in Canada and Montreal, it wasn't hard to find this hotel using GPS and Google Maps. The rate was reasonable and the staff was nice. What I especially liked about the room was that the floor was wooden and didn't have carpet. There are restaurants, subway stations, and shopping districts within walking distance and I enjoyed walking […] around old-town Montreal and shopping districts although the weather was very cold. I would definitely visit this place again when the weather gets warmer. There is a separate parking option for $20/day. Read more
"Very comfortable and convenient"
This hotel was clean, comfortable, and the staff was very helpful. Parking was easily located and not too expensive. The immediate area was not all that exciting but the metro was only a block away. The only negative was that the walls aren't very soundproof so we were woken up in the morning by housekeepers talking outside our room. Still, I would […] recommend it to other people. Read more
"Great location, good value, extremely loud"
This is a good hotel if you are on a budget and want to be close to the action. But it was noisy in the hallways all night long, so I think it's a place where people like to party. Apart from this, the service was good and the price was quite reasonable.
"Perfect Hotel for our Trip"
Hotel St-Denis was perfect for our trip: the right price in the right location, super nice room, everything clean and new. We were able to park for free on the street one block away, walk to everything we needed and wanted for shopping, eating, and entertainment. Next we go we'll walk from there to the Old Port.
"Great Hotel Just off Latin Quarter"
Excellent hotel one block from the Metro, 2 blocks from Latin Quarter. Friendly staff, well-appointed, fresh and clean rooms - this modestly-priced hotel was a wonderful surprise.
"Cheap and good during the week"
The hotel was very reasonably priced and the room clean and more than adequate for our needs. On the Wednesday and Thursday night it was very quiet. On Friday and Saturday night it was hard to sleep with the drunks shouting and fighting in the street below.

"St. Denis - Montreal"
Good, affordable lodging, extremely well-located near old town Quebec and not far from the main downtown area. Excellent location re Metro (subway) and bus lines, including the 747 express bus to/from the airport.
"Hotel St-Denis - comfortable, convenient location"
We stayed at the Hotel St-Denis on a recent 4-day stay in Montreal. It's a small but clean, friendly and comfortable hotel for a very reasonable price. It is located on Rue St-Denis just off the corner of Rue St. Catherine in a University (UMAQ) district. It is within walking distance of the Old City, and it is just one block from a major Metro stop, […] which took us easily to anyplace in the city we wanted to go. There is no restaurant on location, but there is a Pacini Italian restaurant right next door. There is also no on-site parking, but for a reasonable daily fee we were able to park in a nearby underground parking lot that has an arrangement with the hotel. Our room itself was a bit on the small side, but totally sufficient for our needs at the time, and had all the amenities we wanted. I asked for a portable refrigerator which was immediately brought to our room. The staff was always friendly and accommodating with our questions and requests. We were more than comfortable there during our stay. I would definitely stay there again, as well as recommend it to anyone else visiting Montreal. Read more

"The best for the price"
Everything was good.
"It's the neighborhood that's bad, not the hotel"
Get an unlimited metro pass because you will need it to travel outside of the miserable and run down neighborhood this hotel is in. Homeless people all over, shady characters abound. I'm from NYC so I know; nor does it particularly bother me. Montreal is a walking city and I usually stay around the city center, much nicer and convenient-still need that […] metro pass though. This hotel was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. Several decent restaurants close by. Metro and bicycle rental steps away. Price was great because all my usual spots had tripled their rates because of the Gran Prix. One very, very big negative: the windows aren't sound proofed so you hear every, and I mean every, sound from outside-most of them disturbing. Not a place for a quiet rest. Read more
"Excellent Place in Center of Montreal"
Staying there was an excellent experience, with parking right around the corner (with a preferred rate from the hotel). The neighborhood is very convenient, though not the most lovely in the city ( for atmosphere, I prefer the Plateau). But for someone doing business in Montreal or who wants to be near the nightlife or the Gay Village, it is ideal.

"A great find for the price."
Double suite rooms were large and entire hotel was exceptionally clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel was fairly basic, but truly a great find for such a reasonable price.
"Good choice"
Good location: easy access to the city on foot or by metro. Lots of choices for restaurants nearby. Good parking just around the corner.
"clean, friendly and affordable."
The staff were cordial and helpful. The location was convenient to the airport bus dropoff. The room was a suite with plenty of space, pull out couch and immaculate bathroom. We were very pleased with the hotel.
"Excellent Service, Lovely Room, Handy Location"
Staff were very helpful and kind. I loved my room and the hotel had some nice older style charm (hot water radiators and nice high ceilings) with modern style and renovations (new flooring, flat screen tvs, stylish bed linens, furniture, and paint colours). I much prefer smaller, non-chain hotels with charm, and this was ideal. Very quiet and secure […] building in a perfect location-- close to all the nightlife, sights, and shopping Montreal has to offer. I was in Montreal for a conference, so I was pleased the wireless internet was consistent and fast. Clean, comfortable, and pleasant stay. Read more
"Very clean rooms but still depressing"
They worked very hard at keeping the rooms clean; mopped and swept every day. However, it did not brighten the mood of the room, which had old plain furniture and very hard uncomfortable laminate flooring. It's true that there are a lot of beggars outside on the street. There was no little fridge in the room to keep snacks and cold milk. Cheap affordable […] place for younger people but depressing environment for late 30's guest. I will stay in a 4 star place next time. Elevator does not go to basement if you wish to keep your suitcase there and nobody to help with bags. Read more

"Very Satisfy with the hotel"
Clean an very good price
"Hotel St-Louis"
For a central location close to Set-Catherine, the hotel is fine, the service is good, the room comfortable. However, the parking is not convenient and in the summer since there is no AC and I think the room would be hot.
"Hotel St-Denis in Montreal"
This is a very good hotel with a really comfortable king-sized bed. However, the best feature is its very close location to the Berri-UQAM Metro station which gives you immediate access to not one but two metro lines. There are very few attractions in Montreal that are not close to these two lines and the bus out to the airport leaves from here as well. One […] minor complaint: a box of tissues would be handy. "noisy street"
the hotel is undergoing renovations and the first 2 floors are showing it: most clients would not see this if they take the elevator. I walk up stairs and it shows. The first night, screaming and fighting int he street woke me up. The following day, there was a protest in the street again stopping traffic. Otherwise, the room is nice, spotless clean, […] staff nice, if casual. Great if you are not the stuffy style. I personally prefer a little more formality and decorum. Staff looked as if they just walked out of their class at UQAM across the street, nothing wrong in that per se, just my personal preference. Read more

"hotel st-denis"
good except for the toilet that wasn't flushing right.
They charge you more then what the prices coated are. Asking for overhead expense which was not informed before. These expense didnot make any sense.
"Hotel St Denis in Montreal,CA - a good value"
The Hotel is located near the old Monreal, a short walk to a lot of interesting places. The front desk men were very kind and spoke French with a perfect accent. They suggested us things to do in Monreal. Note that the parking is not free, and there is no breakfast. When we arrived there was no room like what we had booked, so they gave us a lovely […] suite with jakusi for the same price (a good deal indeed). The hotel is very clean, very quite, everything was correct. We have been there only one night, but if we had decided to stay a day more in Montreal, we would remain in the same hotel. Read more
"Hotel St, Denis in Montreal"
I was completely satisfied with my stay at the hotel. A very clean and nice room, a most comfortable bed and an excellent staff helped make my stay a 5 star one!
The hotel was centered near down town and close to the major main streets.
"Nice hotel, good location"
It was easy to reach by car, which was nice because I was a bit worried about driving in Montreal. Location was very good: the center and lots of nice restaurants were within walking distance. The room was comfortable.
"wknd away"
The hotel was fabulous and the service was great. There was just a frustrating set-back because a bike race had taken over all the surrounding streets and we coudln't get to the hotel except by foot. But the hotel staff were very helpful in directing us.

"Hotel St-Denis - Good location, good service"
I recently stayed at this hotel and the service was friendly and understanding. I am by no means a french speaker, so the fact that they were all helpful and spoke english was a definite benefit. Restaurant recommendations were good, and the location was close to the subway and main bus terminal.
"Perfect for what it is"
I'm a former Montrealer who just wanted an inexpensive place to crash for a night while hitting all my old haunts. This place, honestly, is perfect for what it is. Comfortable, good service, wifi, and you can not beat the location. Berri-UQAM station is two short blocks away, so you have direct access to three of the four metro lines. Get yourself a […] day pass, you won't regret it. The area around the hotel can be a bit shady, so I would maybe advise taking a cab home after dark, but during the day it's perfectly safe. And cabs are cheap. It's not the Hilton, but perfect if you're looking for an inexpensive place to crash and explore this amazing city. Read more
"Hotel St Denis Montreal, in the right spot."
First visit to Montreal. One night here then a visit to New York by train, then we re-booked the hotel for 2 more nights. Man and wife aged 50, visited the 1st week of July 2010. This hotel choice caused an argument before we went as it's in a 'lively' place, but we were both VERY pleased with all aspects of our visit. It is handy for one of the main […] metro stations Berri-UQAM, and also the bus station which is handy for the airport express 747 bus. We found the two rooms (one night in one room, and two nights in another later in the week after a visit to family in New York by train) very clean and well presented. The second room was over the street but very quiet. Air con is standard, and was needed at the time of our visit. You are practically in the heart of the Latin Quarter, with lots of bars, bistros, and restaurants, whilst around the corner is the area of sex shops, and cinemas. It's a very short walk to Chinatown, Old Montreal and the port, as well as the newer parts of the city. We were allowed to check in at 11am on our first day, as the room was ready, and on our second visit we checked out at 1pm, and were given a key to a giant locker where we could stow our baggage for free until we were ready to return for it to catch the airport bus. The ONLY complaint we had was nothing to do with the hotel, but was the preponderance of beggars all around the district, who were a pain in the neck, but not too persistent. I personally don't give money to beggars, and the ordinary folk of all ages, and at all times of the day and night VASTLY outnumber the undesirables. We would go back to the hotel 100% and the staff also speak good English. Read more

Read more
