"Hotel St. Denis"
I spent a few nights here and it was ok. If you've got the money though I'd stay somewhere else. The matress was soft and the tv remore didnt work. There was a beeping smoke detector my first night (though this did eventually get fixed). The location is great, although there is a scary alley right next to the hotel off of St. Catherine street where […] some poeple were hanging out. Perfect for younger travellers on a budget, but I'd look elsewhere if you require more comfort. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Basic, clean, safe"
Can't beat this price, and the room has all the necessary basics. No in-room safe, the hairdryer was weak, and the parking garage was difficult to access, but at a double occupancy rate that's not much more than a hostel, I think this is as good as it gets.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for the price"
The staff was amazing. Very nice. The surrounding area was OK. Lots of restaurants and lots of homeless.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Staff, Good Location"
The staff was very friendly and helpful. I plan on staying here again when I come back to Montreal.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Stay will stay again"
We really enjoyed the hotel. We were surprised how big the room is, especially because the Lobby is small. The room was very clean. Hotel staff was very helpful. Though we all wished they had told us about the cool lounge area downstairs when we arrived we would have taken advantage of it! It is about a mile away from shopping and dining in the city....but […] that's an easy walk or cab ride away, and there is also the Metro...we are used to walking so didn't mind the stroll at all. "Great value for the price"
A very nice hotel in Montreal within walking distance of the convention center. It's in a nice part if town so you can feel comfortable walking outside at any time at night. The staff was very helpful and the rooms were reasonably sized but very clean and well kept.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Decent, basic hotel"
A good choice for no-frills, basic accommodation. Spacious rooms, comfy beds but no amenities to speak of. Location is its biggest advantage, near UQAM, the spiffy new library and the main bus station. Good value for the money.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We really liked this hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms quite clean and conmfortable. A lot of construction going on in the surrounding area so we had to go "around the block" a few times with detours to find it and there was a slightly "sewer-like" smell in the lobby that we thought might be construction related. The lot was close […] by but quite old and scary to park a large vehicle in, but we managed. I do think that the cost of park should be included as a courtesy but it was still great to have the parking available. We would definitely stay again at the discounted rate. The area is great - lots of shops and restaurants and very convenienty to everything. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient location for visiting Montreal"
We used the hotel as a staging place and pretty much walked all over the city - it's a reasonable walk (15 mins) from Chinatown with Vieux Montreal a bit farther. Less than a block from the Berri-UQAM metro was convenient and pretty much sandwiched between le village gai and the le quartier latin - the latter being a bit seedy, but not at all unsafe, […] just unseemly. The hotel had a funny smell and they were a bit touchy about having guests comes to your room (my son came to see us and we had to move our visit to a common area - which I thought was ridiculous). But it was a great value, literally down the street from the festival Montreal en lumiere, and a hop-skip-and-a-jump from Archambault (Quebec's oldest bookstore). I'd stay there again - far more personable and real than any chain, a good buy and nice to be somewhere where you can open a window. Not a great place to stay if you plan to spend a lot of time in the room - the tv didn't face the bed, or any other place to sit, for that matter. But perfect for in and out visitors to Montreal. "Can't beat it"
Great location. Close to lots of restaurants and shopping. Also convenient to Metro. I felt very safe and comfortable here. We don't care about views or lavish decorations. We just needed a casfe, clean, comfortable place to sleep, and that it was! Staff was friendly and helpful. And the price was EXCELLENT. The *only* thing I would change is I would […] put the telephone next to beds instead of across the room. It makes it difficult to answer calls immediately if you're in bed. Also, cleaning staff didn't close our door all the way one day, so when we got back, we noticed the door was ajar. They also threw away some special face soap I use, but that's probably because it's black (charcoal) and they probably thought it was mildew or something. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Clean room and centrally located"
Great hotel which offered plenty of space for three people (2 beds and a fold-out couch-bed). Centrally located, parking available (I think it was $18 a day, in a garage), helpful staff at the front desk!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Clean and warm, great location"
I arrived at the hotel at 7 am - way too early to check in - but the hotel had a basement locker and bar area where I could store my luggage and sleep for a few hours. No one bothered me there, and I felt safe. The hotel staff were very nice. Even though they insisted that the hotel is totally non-smoking (with penalties), I could still smell a little […] smoking from another room. You can't control the room temp, but the room was comfortable for mid-January (there's also a space heater). I thought the hardwood floors in people's rooms overhead and the club next door would make for a lot of noise, but neither did (I was on the second floor). My room was clean and the hotel's small and cozy - it was everything I needed it to be, but it's not luxurious, so don't expect it. I really enjoyed my stay and I'll definitely stay there again. It's literally 100 meters from a hub metro stop, so the location's perfect. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Exterior questionable/ Comfortable interior"
We were able to walk to Notre Dame, China Town and the underground city/ metro from this location. St. Denis street itself is packed with great restaurants, bars and shopping. The hotel looked rather sketchy from the outside but once inside it was clean and the people at the front desk were friendly. We had a very large king size bed that was very comfortable. […] Room service was great but a bit loud at 8:30AM when they got their start cleaning. Parking was right around the corner in a safe, underground garage- it did cost $16 for a 24-hour period which was an extra expense we didn't consider. WIFI was free and fast. I would recommend staying here so long as you aren't turned off by the exterior of the building. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Perfect for tourist on a budget."
The room was very clean and tidy. Hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was on the small side, but perfect for a budget traveler. The building is older, but has a pleasant charm. The local neighborhood seemed slightly rundown, but the location is perfect for seeing old Montreal and using public transportation. The only thing that bothered […] me a little was that I could smell smoke in the hallway from adjacent rooms. But, the smell wasn't really in my room enough to complain about, mostly undetectable. "Great location, very homey"
This hotel is right in the Latin quarter and less than a two minute walk from a metro that has all 3 lines. St. Catherine street is less than a block away so it is close to many shops and bars. The hotel was very small, but had a homey feel. There is usually just one person working in the lobby, and they are willing to give suggestions and make reservations […] for you upon request. I suggest utilizing the hotel's restaurant suggestions, I did and they were all delicious! This hotel is great for couples, but maybe not for families. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel in Downtown Montreal"

"Great experience at the Hotel St-Denis"
Clean, quiet, and a very good bargain. No complaints whatsoever. Strongly recommended.Genuine Expedia guest review
Although the Ratings of the Hotel recommended a stay there, ist was a real dissapointment. Hotel is very old and has almost no services at all. Room was clean, staff ok, but everything very old and run down. "Economical and near the gay village"
Clean, comfortable, polite employees and decent price. Would stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a great hotel for the budget minded. The rooms are small but functional and were clean as well. Underground parking is just around the corner for a fee! Restaurant Pacini is next door and serves a great breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
St. Denis is right in the middle of the Latin Quarter, and accessible to good restaurants, bars, theaters, and the metro stop. I would call the accommodations 2.5 stars instead of 3, but the room was very clean. The 16$ parking was well worth it as well. This is a great value for the price and location. I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good but don't take a room on the street side"
I recommend this hotel, the rooms are spacious, it is very central and the staff is friendly and helpful. Just make sure you do not book a room on the street (St-Denis) side of the Hotel. There are several nearly nightclubs and there was lots of yelling, loud car noises, music etc both nights I stayed.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to main metro station on 3 lines"
Great location. Close to metro which is on 3 lines, so easy to get around. Close to many walkable sights. Good restaurant next door, excellent breakfast. Many eating places within a few blocks. Would stay here again for the convenience. Bed was very comfortable. Individual lockers for luggage storage - we kept the key until we returned to collect our […] luggage on the way to the airport. Hint - buy a day metro ticket (or a 3 day), then take the bus from the airport, get off at the first stop and take the metro from there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is a little dated, otherwise pretty nice, one thing worthy of mention is there is almost no water pressure at all in the shower. The location is nice though, close to everything.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel St-Denis in Montreal"
The room was okay. It's an older hotel that was modernized and clean. Parking was free but around the corner in a secure building. Wifi was free. The AC was a window unit but it was cool enough I just had the window open. In the morning I saw two of the same strange insects. I was told they are house centipedes. A lot of legs. There were several eateries […] within walking distance but the neighborhood had some sketchy people milling around. I walked to Old Montreal (Rue St. Paul). It was relatively close and I really enjoyed it. It felt like you're in France (as I surmise as I've never been there) with a lot of out-door restaurants. I had Poutine and a local lager which was a treat. I would like to return with my wife for a pleasure tip as the we're foodies and there were plenty of interesting restaurants to choose from. I'd probably stay there again. The insect thing didn't bother me but I'm sure it'd freak my wife out. It's no different than seeing a spider in your house. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We enjoyed the accomodations and had a comfortable stay at affordable rates. We would definitely stay again. The room we stayed in was on the back of the hotel on third floor, so room was very quiet. The bed was very comfortable. The only recommendation was it was time to ditch the two chairs in our room which were stained and dirty looking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good but noisy"
Within walking distance to Old Montreal, Bonsecourus Market and downtown, Notre Dame Basilica, close to main St. Catherine Street and shopping. St. Denis is also a major street. Room is sufficient for what we needed, very comfortable bed and pillows, clean, and we asked for refrigerator, which we got too. Toilet flushing was a bit problematic, but was […] not a major problem. The biggest downside was the street noise, very loud through 3am. There was an air conditioner still in the window, so the window was kind of partially open so to say. If you stay here, ask for a room away from the street. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We had a great time, staff was very friendly and helpful and the location is perfect – a 5 or 10 minute walk to Old Montreal, two minutes from the "hub" Metro stop, and close to several really good restaurants (we loved O'Thym).Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice, quiet hotel in great location!"
We booked this hotel without a lot of knowledge of Montreal, and were pleasantly surprised. Very friendly and helpful staff, and the location was excellent - very close to the Metro and the many restaurants of the Latin Quarter. Not a luxury hotel, but close to all we were looking for.Genuine Expedia guest review
As air travelers who walked to places of interest such as the waterfront and university we easily found places to eat and sites to visit. We felt safe and found the neighborhood interesting, the staff friendly and helpful, the room clean and comfortable. A competitive value.Genuine Expedia guest review
Convenient location and room was OK. I would have liked to have conditioner in the unit, not just shampoo, lotion and soap. Seems like a small detail but one that makes a difference.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It's a few minutes walk from Old Montreal. A must see if your vacationing. The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful recommending restaurants and sights to see. He spoke English with no accent. The room was very clean. Beautiful hardwood floors. Nice but old style room. Originally built in the 1920s. "Simple basic rooms"
I needed a simple, clean basic room to sleep in. That is exactly what I got. The room was basic, and small, but spotlessly clean. The staff was friendly, good arrangement with local parking garage and good location.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Quirky Little Place"
Older, though nice hotel. In a unique area of Montreal with a lot of free spirits in the area. The hotel staff was nice and accommodating. Rooms a bit small, but not bad. Good value for the money.Genuine Expedia guest review
"CLOSE TO OLD MONTREAL"
The hotel was excellent and the staff could not have been more helpful. As a first time visitor to Montreal the desk staff gave tremendous assistance with trip planning and how to use the Metro. The location was great and gave easy walking access to all of the landmarks. Rooms claen and very comfortableGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't be fooled by the exterior"
This is an old hotel. The outside and the check-in lobby are pretty seedy looking and the lobby smells of cigarette smoke. However, our room was lovely! It was large, with hardwood floors, comfortable beds, high quality linens and an updated bathroom.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cute hotel, great location and reasonable pricing!"
Given the high cost of staying in Montreal, this hotel was a really great find! As long as you don't need a fitness room, pool, or other "big hotel" staples... This hotel has what you need and you will spend less overall. They have recently renovated, so the rooms are nice (quaint maybe). You will have to control the temperature using an A/C unit in […] the window or a space heater (it's an older building) - and there's some street noise that comes through on a Weekend evening when everyone is out late, but we were very happy with the room overall. The other services were not bad - parking is in a garage right around the corner, an the rate is reasonable. Wi-if is free, and they also offer free lockers for your luggage (before checking in or after checking out) if you want to do some extra sight seeing. The location is great. You can walk to the old section of Montreal, with all of its shops and restaurants, in 10 minutes. The Latin Quarter is a 5 minute walk up Rue St. Denis, with a lot of good places to eat as well. We also found the Metro to be very easy and convenient, and only a block away! I would absolutely stay here again and again! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Excellent hotel - will definitiely book here again"
The only negative things I can think of are the very small size of the bathroom and the inadequate number of elecric outlets. With 3 smart phones, one Ipad and one laptop, there were only two outlets to charge/use. We ended up using the bathroom outlets to charge the phones. Otherwise, its perfect.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our room key didn't work for two days and the staff kept insisting that we try it again. Other than that good location and adequate accommodations.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
