"You get what you pay for..."
I am not much of a complainer, but...I found the front desk staff to be very lazy. Friendly, but lazy. The first thing they had me do was sign a waiver basically saying they weren't responsible if my belongings ended up stolen. Awesome. And they charge you to use the in-room safe. They didn't give me a WiFi password, tell me about check out times, breakfast […] details, give me a map, etc. Just...here's your room key! My room smelled like a hamster....strong...it was bad. There was no blow dryer in the room (website said there was one in each room) and it took me calling down to the front desk twice to finally get one brought up (took about 1.5 hours in total). The TV remote didn't work and again, took 2 phone calls and overnight to finally have someone bring me a new one. Housekeeping didn't come until LATE afternoon (3 or 4pm?) Fitted sheet was just a top sheet pulled over the mattress. And did I mention my room smelled like a hamster? ;) Room decor was nice, and the room overall was rather clean. Free hot breakfast was nice, but really crowded toward mid-morning. The hotel was in a GREAT location (1 block from French Quarter and 2-3 blocks from aquarium and outlet mall), but the people hanging around outside the hotel and on the streets were questionable. I didn't feel very safe walking around by myself, even during the day (I am an early 30's caucasian woman). The location of the hotel was great. Really close to everything at a great price. Our room was nice but had a leaking A/C unit. They fixed the issue and the room was nice. The valet service was a total joke. They charge you the initial price as a hold then charged the full price and tax AGAIN when we left. It was ridiculous. For the price, I cant complain much, but the hotel does leave some to be desired. The room decor and carpeting in the rooms and hallways looked tired. It was only so-so: pancakes, cereal, mini-muffins, sausage and a spongy square thing that was supposed to be an egg patty. We were disappointed that on our last day, the hotel had scrambled eggs instead of the egg patties we dealt with all week since the scrambled eggs were much better, but overall the breakfast was convenient and saved us at least $30/day. The dining space is small so plan your arrival early to avoid the crowds and get a space to sit down. We parked at a long term parking facility a few blocks from the hotel since the hotel charges $30/nt. A meter maid informed us that parking was free after 6pm until 8am so we were able to leave the car in front of the hotel while we settled in, and we found a space the night before we checked out. Location is great. You cross the street into the French Quarter and are walking distance from a lot of attractions. We will back to NoLa, but I don't think we will be staying here. Lets start with the positives. The location was perfect! Step outside and it's about a 10 minute walk to Bourbon Street, which was perfect for all my shopping needs. "Unpleasant personnel and small BF room"
A piece of advice: order your car from the valet well in advance... and if your car is not available at the time you ordered it, don't even think of complaining..You should have chosen an other parking place...This is the answer we got when we specifically asked for our car at a specific time and were told to call xx minutes in advance (which we did). […] Yet, we got our car way later than planned, almost missed our appointment..At no point the personnel apologized, but they rather put the blame on us, explaining it was the City fault (yeah...45 min to drive 4 blocks) and that we should simply accept this...well, obviously their valet management needs serious improvements.
