"Not worth it to stay there"
Hotel staff are supposed to make you feel welcomed, but we didn't get that when we stayed. They all looked like they hated working there. The rooms are a bit too small, in my opinion and ours did not have a window. Perhaps the worst part of our stay is we didn't have a shower curtain for the first two nights. This hotel is the perfect location for just about anything you want to do in New Orleans! You are pretty much a 10-15 minute walk from anywhere so once we got the car parked (toughest part of the trip) we didn't see it again till we left 5 days later. "Location not 100% ideal for Mardi Gras"
The location is nice in that it is close to everything, but it is also in the middle of everything and getting to the hotel is impossible during Mardi Gras. We arrived at the hotel after a 12 hour drive and had to park in an overpriced overnight lot because parades block off all of the roads surrounding the hotel. Getting to Bourbon street requires […] crossing a major parade road, so you must wait out the parade in order to get back to the hotel. Waiting for an hour long parade is the last thing you want to do when you're drunk and exhausted. My Son and I made our first trip to NOLA on business to our surprise Mardi Gras was in progress! So that meant even more fun piled into this particular trip. Despite the large air compressor as the center view of from my window, buildings are not particularly skyscrapers in NOLA, I was on the 9th floor so looking down I could see the beauty of the city just fine. The complimentary breakfast was plentiful and all the patrons, party goers seemed overjoyed to have the wonderful delights of a hard nights Mardi Gras groove. The location is great - just off Canal Street (and thus easily accessible by streetcar) and only half a mile from Jackson Square in the French Quarter. Front desk was friendly upon check-in and check-out. Upon check out I appreciated the double checking of our valeting a car for 1 night. Valet attendants are the best. They jump right in to get you what you need beyond the need of getting your car. They know the city and are happy to help you find what you are looking for. We did arrive at 1am one Sunday […] and the that clerk was not happy we woke her. We did not have breakfast in the hotel but we did have coffee. The creamers bin had quite a few empties in it, so that was gross. Using a plastic knife to stir the coffee seemed wasteful. Tables were not cleaned very often between guests. Most of the staff is super friendly so you can hear them in the halls talking with other guests from your room. Our room was 20 paces from the elevator and I can hear the bell when ever it reached our floor. The bed, pillow and bedding was comfortable the room was a decent size, it had a fridge and a small table. This hotel does not have a fitness room but a run around the city was awesome for a daylight workout only because the sidewalks are not even a full of missing tiles, etc. There is no shampoo or conditioner in the room but I did get a couple of small bottles of shampoo from housekeeping. The bathroom was pretty but has no counter space just cubes on the wall over the toilet. I kept the toilet seat down for fear of something falling in. Our experience was so-so. Check in was very slow. We did not have a window in our room, so it became rather stuffy (there wasn't even a fan in the bathroom). "TRUST ME - READ THIS REVIEW"
The valet parking is 4 blocks away so if you need something from your car, forget it. 1st night at 3:00am, we were awaken by doors being slammed. Moments later, our door opens forcefully. Had it not been for the safety latch, they would have come right in. The A/C didn't work & only made noise. Reported these, they advised me they would "check into […] it". Repair man came to fix the A/C which we had to wait for. Since not sleeping well (from the heat & fear of someone breaking down the door) we had a late start getting up so waiting was frustrating. After it was repaired, we asked about the intruder. (Yes WE had to GO ASK) They said "the TV repair man was checking all the TV's". 2nd night the room was cool, however the toilet ran all night. We reported it the next day along with a request for towels. We learned to live with the running toilet & finally went down to get our own towels on the 3rd day. So, having someone almost rip the door off the hinges in New Orleans was scary & the smothering humidity didn't make things easier. The VERY unfriendly staff was not at all helpful & even seemed annoyed by our presence. The rooms are nothing spacious like the pictures show. The vending machines take your money & I didn't even bother reporting it considering the annoyed look we got from legitimate complaints. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR.
