"Old Hollywood style"
My friend and I were looking for a place to stay in Portland and chose the Portland Regency. I had never been before and was so impressed with the charm of the hotel. There was valet service (they charge your bill, which I didn't know) and we were greeted at the front desk as soon as we walked in. I was also surprised to see that they still used actual […] keys which just added to the charm. The double bed room we got was so roomy, the beds were VERY comfortable and the bathroom was much larger than a typical hotel. Overall, the experience was terrific! I was only able to stay one night rather than the two I had planned, but I certainly enjoyed myself. Staff was uniformly pleasant & friendly. Unexpectedly, I was able to get a ride to and from the local theater venue with the airport shuttle rather than a cab; quite the bonus in terms of comfort and security. Such rides are not guaranteed, but I think […] they try very hard to accommodate requests. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Service and Cozy Atmosphere"
We had a great experience at the Portland Regency. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by smiling faces. The valet and registration staff were incredibly friendly and informative. The room was cozy and we love the martinis at the Armory. We will definite return!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent overall experience"
Hotel staff was great, room was nice, the hotel was immaculate, and the location is right in the heart of the Old Port.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location, thin walls....."
The trip was business and leisure combined; which is why we stayed down in the Old Port district. The location was superb. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but we could hear the neighbors conversation almost in detail! When doors opened in the hallway nearby we thought someone was entering our room!! Would stay […] again, but would ask for a corner room perhaps. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Right in the heart of Portland, perfect for walking everywhere but happy to return to enjoy the luxury of the hotel, I will return again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A great hotel for anyone who loves real hotels."
After a miserable flight on United Airlines, the hotel proved to be the perfect oasis from the nightmare the airline created for us. It is small enough to feel personal, but large enough to have all the requisite comforts. The location was perfect and the atmosphere was warm.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Awesome renovated bathroom"
I enjoyed my stay at The Regency. Pros: gorgeous new bathroom, friendly staff, nice turn-down service, close to everything. Cons: valet or street parking only, small windows in roomGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was spacious and quiet, the bathroom & shower were awesome; used all the amenities including the spa and gym; both were clean beautiful very low keyGenuine Expedia guest review
The Regency was conveniently located and sufficiently comfortable. The furnishings were adequate and the staff were exceptionally friendly and responsive. While this is far from the poshest place I have ever stayed, it was a good choice and a good value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Perfect mini "babymoon" getaway"
My husband and I are expecting our first child in May and we wanted to have one last getaway for just the two of us without breaking the bank or having to fly. Since we are both teachers, we decided to do a 2 day trip to Portland mid-week of our February vacation. We booked the Portland Regency Hotel because it was reasonably priced, had a unique historic […] feel, was centrally located within walking distance to shops and restaurants, and had a spa. We took the Downeaster train from Boston to Portland, which was great because we avoided having to drive in the snow storm. Amtrak offers a free transfer ticket for the bus that takes you from the station to downtown Portland (a quick 10 minute drive). Everything about our stay at the Regency was great: lunch at the Armory Lounge, nightly turn down service, complimentary tea and coffee tray delivered to our door in the AM, the spa services (I got a heavenly prenatal massage!), the well-equipped fitness room and jacuzzi, the plush robes and most especially the huge, super comfy king sized bed. We slept so well! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We were absolutely thrilled to find this place. Everything was just perfect. Service, amenities, location, room size, and little extras like an umbrella in the closet and toiletries fabulous! Breakfast was delicious and elegant but a bit expensive. Room could use a more thorough cleaning - little dusty in corners and behind lamps but nothing to stop […] me from coming back. Planning our next visit already! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to all the best that Portland has to offer"
A brief, casual respite away from the cold and snow turned into a wonderful three-day vacation filled with sun and a temperature near 50 degrees. Because The Regency is set in "the heart of Portland," one can walk just about anywhere with ease.Genuine Expedia guest review
"In the heart of old port"
Excellent service and good facilities in the spa/fitness area including whirlpool, sauna and steam rooms. Hotel is walking distance to many good restaurants.Genuine Expedia guest review
Bed was extremely soft. While this is a luxury for some it is very painful for me with a back injury. The hotel did send someone up with plywood boards to put under the mattress but I ended up sleeping on the box springs... Our room was also across from some flashing neon signs and the curtains to not actually cover the whole window. Strange set up […] ... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel, amazing location"
This hotel is right in the heart of Old Port...it was so easy to walk to all the shops and the restaurants. The staff was incredibly helpful. It also was a great price and the valet parking was only 12 a night. My husband and I would definitely stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Mother /Daugther Getaway"
Portland is a great place to visit. Lots of restaurants, shops and a beautiful harbor. The Portland Regency Hotel and Spa are right in the middle, you can walk anywhere. There is a $12 valet parking fee which was worth it with all the snow and ice covering all the other space. Also we had gotten a great rate a Hotels.com so did not mind the extra. The […] bedding is great, clean and cozy. The rooms and hallway are very clean. We was many people working on keeping the hotel clean. One drawback is there are no heavy curtains on the windows just blinds so a lot of light comes in from street. There is no coffee maker in room, but you can order coffee and it will be delivered in morning at no extra charge. The Spa is great, large Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and exercise room fro guests and wonderful massages or facials. The staff is friendly and helpful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent location in Portland!"
Overall very nice! Twenty Milk St. Restaurant needs to serve there entrees hotter. Breakfast the next morning also served just warm food. If you prefer your food served hot this is a big turn off for the prices you are charged.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Fantastic place to stay in downtown Portland ME"
From the minute I arrived until the minute I left (I was there a week), the staff treated me as if I were a favorite uncle. No matter what my request or question was, they did their best to give me help right then or direct me to where I could find help. My room was totally comfortable, quiet, spotless, exactly what I want and need when I am travelling. […] I very much appreciated the assistance of the friendly valets. Such a convenience to be picked up at the airport and delivered to the airport (in a blizzard, too!--last plane to make it out of Portland yesterday.) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"great location, nice hotel"
Overall, the hotel was very nice. The people were friendly and helpful. The room was large and comfortable. Breakfast in the restaurant was very good. The layout is a little odd and takes awhile to get used to. The location was excellent. The walls are not very sound proof, so at times the people outside and in the rooms next door were noisy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Location was perfect. The hotel had history and character. Everything was clean and VERY comfortable. My boyfriend and I will be back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel located in the heart of Old Port."
We loved our stay from start to finish. The hotel was in the heart of Old Port which gave us many things to do in walking distance. The rooms were so clean and comfortable. The restaurant and lounge had great food, drink and atmosphere. The staff was excellent. We will be going back again.Genuine Expedia guest review

"great old building, in the center of the Old Port"
Great place to stay. Only complaint was a rather load party in the central function room. However, we will certainly stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Small, friendly hotel in a fantastic, walk to everything location. Our room was spacious and clean, but could definitely use some updating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pampered experience for a decent price."
Stayed here for a quick and relatively inexpensive getaway and it was perfect. We'll stay here every time we come to Portland.Genuine Expedia guest review
Always stay here when we go to Portland. Service is friendly and well done. Nice location for great restaurants. Reasonable parking rates. Comfortable rooms. Good value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice hotel, love the coffee delivered in the morning and the handy valet parking and the free wifi.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice old place"
The location & staff are great. My only negative comment is that since the place is a bit old, the rooms don't offer too much privacy. You can easily hear your neighbors talking. But spend some time in the Armory Lounge and you'll sleep through anything.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice romantic getaway"
WE drove through 3 hours of snow to get here and it was worth it. It continued to snow into the next day, so we spent a fair amount of time in the room, including room service breakfast which was excellent. The location is fantastic - walking distance to all the historical and fun attractions in this small, quaint city. We decided we'd definitely like […] to come back in the summer when we could more comfortably walk around and explore without freezing! Portland is second only to San Francisco in restaurants per capita, and both of our dinner choices were fantastic. The hotel even drove us to and from the Back Bay Grill the first night, as they said parking would be a problem. Staff at this hotel was more than accommodating, with service and restaurant suggestions. We will definitely be back!~ Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"3rd Visit to The Regency"
Everything was so nice! The room spacious with a King Bed! The Staff were friendly and accommodating. But my Husband filled the Jacuzzi Tub and was ready for a relaxing soak but the jets wouldn't turn on. He tried and I tried but nothing. And the room was hot. I tuned down the temperature but had to open a window. Upon check out I told the lady @ the […] desk about the tub and she said none of them worked. I just felt they should have had a note in the room telling us that. And she had no response to the room being hot. But other than those 2 minor items everything was nice. We will go back for a 4th visit!!!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice Hotel near the Portland waterfront"
We loved this hotel. The room was very comfortable and clean. We loved the turndown service with chocolates. "Great hotel in excellent location"
We had a lovely getaway stay here; hotel was nice, staff was pleasant, and the location in Portland was perfect, we never used our car after arrival. The coffee dropped off at your door in the morning is a nice touch. The fitness facilities were in good shape and the steam room was great!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Fabulous service and comfort in the Old Port!"
From booking through checkout, this property and staff were exceptional. The front desk staff made every effort to ensure our every need was not just met, but anticipated. Our room was immaculate and large, well appointed ... and the bath was terrific in every respect, from towel size and weight to water pressure and the multi-jet shower. We stayed […] over Christmas, fully expecting that staffing would be light and service slow ... happily that was NEVER the case. We asked for and promptly received a humidifier and microwave oven. The room service was fast and the food was not your run of the mill room service quality, but truly gourmet quality. Don't miss the lobster stew ... the best we had of several samplings in Old Port restaurants. And the spa ... don't miss the spa! The massage therapist was experienced in a variety of techniques and the sauna was the perfect antidote to sub-freezing temps! Our car was brought around quickly every time it was requested in our 3 day stay. This stay over the Christmas holiday was the BEST Christmas gift I could ever have received! Great value. Don't pass this property up!. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Great location and phenomenal customer serviceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a lovely hotel in a great location. The problem is that it really needs a refurbishing - old, dingy rugs, rooms needing some spiffing up (grout around shower, low blown-on ceiling, etc.) The linens were terrific. Staff, though, didn't act like a really fine hotel, e.g., two men didn't open the doors for me when I was entering with luggage. Another […] suggestion: complimentary coffee and pastry are offered through room service each morning - so nice! The coffee was weak, though, and the pastry not up to a fine hotel's standards. On a positive note, all staff were very friendly and the front desk person was efficient and especially pleasant. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
