They get almost all of the details wrong; the rooms are poorly laid out and extremely noisy, the WIFI is constantly down and/or weak, the phones don't work, the a/c doesn't work properly, the restaurant service is spotty. Nothing is a deal-breaker on its own, but taken together, this is far from a 5 star experience.

Just a few blocks from Puerta del Sol in one direction, and from the Prado in the other. But the rooms are tiny, almost claustrophobia-inducing. My room near the elevator was a bit noisy at night. The decor was perhaps too chic for its own good. Staff were very friendly.

Service was outstanding... Location excellent!!! I would definitely try this hotel again when I visit their sister location in Barcelona next year... Modern, tasteful and excellent service. The one complain I have is their Internet connection... Extremely poor Internet service... Otherwise a complete 5 out of 5!!!

The Urban Hotel is a perfect location for walking everywhere. The hotel was the funky, trendy boutique hotel experience I was looking for. The staff was so helpful and Ramon the bartender helped us with our Spanish...he was so patient with us. The room was very chic and comfortable.

We had booked the duplex but the picture and the room didn't match so they offered an upgrade to a suite at an additional cost. We moved to an exterior suite at a significant increase and it was horrible. I listed and provided to them 16 issues including water damage, black mold around the shower, not functioning sink stops, dirty, cracks on walls, […] ceiling falling down in the toilet room, etc. The second night we moved to an interior suite which was better. The Urban hotel is a great place to stay if you are looking for a clean, trendy well located spot. Bar and terrance get bussy at nights with a "fashion" crowd. However the hotel lacks a decent gym to workout while traveling and the business services are very basic (no business center).

Hotel Urban is just as beautiful as others have expressed. My partner and I had a nice stay. The staff were rather friendly and helpful (contrary to other reviews) and the hotel was conveniently located next to major tourist attractions without being in the midst of all the mayhem. My only (very minor!) complaint is that the Urban may be a little too urban for its own good: It took me and my partner a good bit of time to figure out how to turn the shower on and off or to extinguish the lights (trust us-- you need a booklet for both). Other than traffic issues and the current protesting going on, it was great. Visitors should know that this hotel is very close to the Spanish Parliment Building and as a result a gathering area for the protestors.

Excellent hip hotel. Very friendly staff! Great artwork in the hotel as well. It is surprisingly quiet considering that it is in a busy area. No air conditioner, room temperature to hot, you need to open room window, during the night you can’t sleep, you hear all every noise of the street. Front desk personnel tell you a different story when you go to inform the problem of the air conditioner, and nobody resolves the problem.

Stayed during the Christmas holiday and couldn't ask for a better place to stay. Breakfast options were great - very reasonable cost wise. Hotel is centrally located.

Rooms were nice, lack of outlets proved difficult. Can hear everything through the walls. As my bed Rm 209 was against the wall of my neighbors bathroom I heard lots of interesting noises throughout the night.

GREAT hotel-great location. Loved the nightly turndown service (a nice bit of chocolate before bed!). The hotel restaurant's tasting menu (I ate there on two separate occasions) was both delicious & not outrageously expensive; the same, however, cannot be said about drinks - you can quickly incur a high tab at the rooftop bar. Relaxing by the pool in […] the sun, however, helps to ease the high drink prices! Had a duplex room which was beautifully appointed, with exquisite art in the room (the only drawback was the sensor in the closet that turned on the light; the light would only stay on for about 30 seconds before going out; it was very annoying!) . High pressure showers were welcome and the bidet an unexpected surprise! Wired internet free in-room (not an option for my MacBook Air. alas), so had to pay for Wi-Fi in-room (it is free, however, in the lobby I believe). Based upon my length of stay, the monthly rate (50 euros) was cheaper over the daily/weekly rate. Rather pricey, but I need my internet! My stay was at this hotel was most enjoyable & I will definitely visit again on my next trip to Madrid! Read more

My room wasn't ready when I arrived so left bags at hotel. When I got to the room and unpacked, a digital clock was missing from my carry-on bag. When I checked out the concierge wanted me to pay for a breakfast I never ordered and drinks I had never taken from the wet bar.

Hotel Urban was excellent! We stayed five nights and were completely satisfied with all aspects of the hotel. Staff were wonderful and the location couldn't have been better. We did not eat any meals at the hotel nor drank at either of the hotel's two bars which all seemed too expensive. Not a 5-star property, just average. Room was nice and contemporary and bathrooms where fine. The insulation is very poor. You can hear adjoining rooms through the walls and the noise in the hallway can be so loud you would think the door was open. Front desk service was average at best.
