I've stayed in quite a few De Vere hotels and almost always found them to be quite a good standard, but the uplands was anything but......dingy tiny room, tired paintwork, paperthin walls, shabby funishings, dirty caprpets. I thought I'd got the room cheap, but still think it was poor value for money.

The rooms have no sound proofing. There was an exercise class in the tent next my room, prevented me from working. Possible to hear conversation in adjacent room. The toilet was broken on arrival, notalternate room available. Reported to hotel, it was neither fixed or any communication given to me on what would happen. Overnight stay, very pleasant stay, staff very helpful and rooms clean and tidy. The grounds and location were lovely. The hotel was a little more remote than we had expected. We had a very good deal so no complaints.

Very good as De Veres venues normally are, be aware you need a token to exit the hotel car park and you will have to ask for one at reception as they often don't remember to mention it.

The staff were excellent. Very helpful and friendly. It's a conference centre but has good accommodation and at a reasonable price. The bedrooms are basic but clean and the facilities are good. Worth staying at if you want an economical stay in the area.

Its all Lovely as you drive up but then you walk through to the hotel, a little dated and odd layout (Very Butlins) Clean and tidy, bathroom needs an update as looking a little tired but overall not too bad.

The main fault of the hotel was that my room was cold. It was a freezing January night and there was very little heat coming from the radiator. I never complained, and should have. This is the main reason for my 'Disappointing' rating. Other than this, the hotel offered very good value: a pleasant room, a nice general setting.

The reception staff were very friendly - no problems. Walking up from the car park in the dark the building from the rear (the entrance from car parks) had all the appeal of a 1960's council estate. The room had the feel of a converted garage - and whilst the main bed was nice - with stylish bedding - the only other thing was a nice blind. The rest […] of the room was tired, unkempt and just generally a bit rubbish. The bathroom was easily the worst I have EVER encountered - it looked like a rough DIY job from the 80's done by a man in the dark, with grouting done with toothpaste and applied with a wooden spoon. The shower was a dribble - at best, and the flaming thing didn't switch on - then wouldn't switch off after the worst shower ever. I had to let staff know when I checked out. I ordered room service - and the food was okay - the chilli and rice (with sourcream) was 70% rice, 20% sour cream, and 10% actual chilli. All in all - this was a 'DeVere' Hotel that should be renamed 'SeVere'. I wouldn't come back - I'd rather sleep in my car, and run through the rain for a shower. I'd be about as well prepared as I was after this stay. I also felt that the rooms at the back seemed to be the reserve of the various booking websites - and were clearly not part of the DeVere standard. Wanted a place to stay after arriving after 8pm at Heathrow. Took a while to find and arrived about 9:15pm. Saturday night and Christmas Party going on in a marquee. This involved plenty of noise but, as promised, it died out not long after midnight. Restaurant closing when we arrived but Bar meals still being served. Pleasantly surprised at the quality of this hotel. The shower in my room was slightly weak but I otherwise cannot fault my stay. The bed was very comfy and room furnishings of good quality. Shame I had to leave so early in the morning without time to explore the rest of the hotel.

Arrived at hotel and checked in. Told that there was a function being held outside in the marquee that evening, so I would hear some noise. Was given room 16, which was supposed to be far away from the marquee, but the noise was very loud until around midnight. Every time I wanted to leave the car park I had to get a token for the barrier from Reception. Room […] itself was unusual but well maintained and very pleasant. I needed to check out early the following morning. When I went to reception I found the door locked. I knocked on the door but there was no sign of any staff. In the end I had to ring the hotel's phone number. The night porter came out of the back room and struggled to work his computer. After about 20 minutes I finally managed to check out. We stayed here for a friends wedding, and overall were impressed with the hotel, however the rooms had a very "holiday camp" feel to them! It was clean and tidy (although some big spider webs up in the ceiling) and the shower was lovely! Very powerful and very warm! The only problem we had was someone tried charging drinks to our room, which was the […] hotels fault for not asking them for the room card. These were promptly taken off when they realise the signatures didnt match. I hear this happened a lot, so maybe the hotel will start asking for the cards next time? Ok its a little of the beaten track but once you have found it is a realy nice place to say. Realy nice suroundings, good parking, comfortable rooms if a little small and occasionaly a little noisy until people settel down. Food is Ok which is just as well as there is not much else in the imediate area. Would I say again, definatly.

we stayed here on our way to Eton Dorney for the Olympic rowing, we read the reviews so had an idea what to expect, which was an 'ok' hotel, nice lounge and bar. Room no;3 was quite pretty with patio doors but the batrhroom let it down which we expected, we had to be out for 6am so didn't really matter. I would stay again if on route that way.

I arrived after a long day at work and instantly noticed very loud music. I was informed there was an event on and it would stop by 11.30pm. It would have been nice to have been told at time of booking in order to change my mind. The room I was given was a twin when I had booked a double, had cobwebs in the corners, stains on the carpets, threadbare […] carpets, something odd dripping down the light and mouldy net curtains. I instantly went to reception and changed rooms- number 2 was slightly better but the carpet was still so disgusting I daren't walk on it without shoes. When I checked in I was asked if I wanted to swipe my credit card to create a tab- I asked if it would be ok to pay as I went, which I was told would be fine. 7am the following morning after checking out I went to have some breakfast before another long day at work and was told I couldn't as I hadnt swiped my card. AWFUL service! On the plus side, the hotel has new and comfortable beds and the dinner I had in the bar was nice, but it nowhere near makes up for the fact this hotel is really tired and dingy (bathrooms are worse than a motorway service area, there are blue aluminium windows in the rooms which are drafty and there is an odd smell throughout- probably caused by the carpets). WELL BELOW STANDARD FOR A DE VERE, IN FACT, WELL BELOW STANDARD EVEN FOR A 1* MOTEL- STAY AWAY!!!! Read more

Although quiet dated the hotel stay was enjoyable. The rooms were old, but clean, and there was excellent views from my room. Free wireless in the rooms was an absolute bonus. I will definitely go back, and it has the benefit of a gym also.

Suprisingly there was no blind or curtain in front of the large glass windows in bathroom in front of bath and toilet with communal area directly outside. This wasn't a bathroom you could use toilet or bath at night with light on!! If you don't mind very loud music till midnight this hotel is alright for you - I stayed Sun night not Fri or Sat.

I was impressed with this hotel due to the staff. I had a chicken salad in the bar on the first night and ate half and found a chicken bone in it. I brought it to the attention of the waitress and she showed the manager and they said they would inform the chef. The waitress came back and said no charge for the salad and a complimentry dessert. Tricky to find without the navigator but I blame myself for that! Lovely hotel grounds and very comfortable rooms. Staff were very helpful. Had a conference in Marlow and this location was good for that. Overall very satisfied, especially as I got a special rate over winter period.
