This place was more than what we expected! Yes the rooms are small and the carpet could use a shampooing, but their continental breakfast was great (waffle maker, coffee, pastries, bagels and cream cheese) and their location is in a great, safe neighborhood with a variety of restaurants all within a few blocks. The hotel is old and not well kept up. The beds weren't really comfortable and the room we stayed in was directly over a rather loud bar patio. I'm pretty sensitive to noise when I sleep so I had to wear ear plugs. It was cheap and the location was awesome, just know what you are getting into.

do not take room 407 - it's right across from the elevator so you will not sleep very well. it's also teeny tiny, but the bed is very comfortable and the bathroom is nice. overall it has character but it's too expensive for the service provided.

The room wasn't bad, but for 150, I expected a bit more than a tiny room filled by a double bed. The room was clean and served its purpose. The bathroom was nicer than expected. Decent continental breakfast. The place was also just a short walk to DuPont Circle.

Location wise this place was great. Close to everything you need in DC. I am from the south and when I may even $70 for a hotel, I get a luxurious stay. Not so at the nation's capital. For $160, I expected a bit more. The place definitely needs better upkeep, as far as finishings and windows. Looks nice and quaint and has that from another era look […] to it. But the rooms can do with some updating. However, undeniably clean and otherwise convenient. Desk attendants very knowledgeable with answers to my question. The room was a wreck. No comforter, exposed mattresses (no dust ruffle), water damage on the ceilings and walls, drywall patches everywhere, I thought the ceiling fan was going to fall on me while I was sleeping, no parking...The list goes on and I am not picky by any means. I wouldn't stay there again if someone paid me.

I had to exit the hotel and find another right after checking into my room. I was sure I would get bed bugs and with no safe in the room, my items would not be safe. It was small and dingy and in desperate need of a make-over.

After getting a late start to the day, I didnt arrival at the Hotel till after 8pm. The 1st issue i ran into was the hotel doesnt have official parking. You can park out front till 7am at which time you must move your vehicle or you will get TOWED! Or you can pay $40 and leave you vehicle in an over night parking lot afew blocks away. 2nd issue although […] the hotel appear clean at 1st the second floor carpet smells like vomit. Now my room, there was paint on the floor in multi location, the rooms Heater/AC unit was noisy, the bathroom had NO blinds on the window, the window had no screen and wouldnt stay open ( watch your fingers! ) The shower handle didnt work correctly. Great location, nice amenities- Cable TV, free internet, free breakfast and coffee/tea all day. The beds are clean and comfortable, and the rooms are small but tidy. The best thing about this hotel is the location. For a business traveler, it is a short walking distance to most offices in the downtown core. There are restaurants, shops and supermarkets nearby. I wanted to give this hotel a lowest rating because I was really angry at the rude frontdesk staff, but then I tried to think of some of the good things about it and wanted to be fair to them. Free wifi is appreciated. Don't count on the so-called buffet breakfast, but then it is better than nothing and is complimentary. The neighbourhood was fine. Not near any subway station, but within walking distance to the Mall (weather permits). What went wrong was this particular front desk guy. My room didn't allow me to make international calls. I rang frontdesk and he said he'd activate it. It didn't work and even local calls no longer worked. Not only did he not even try to help and made no apology, but instead he raised his voice and started getting impatient, and then hung up before I could finish speaking! This was just one instance. I won't bore you with the other episodes. The rudest attendant you'd even find in any hotel. I will not be staying at this hotel again. Oh, also, someone made scam calls at midnight pretending to be the hotel's owner and asked for credit card details. This is by far the worst hotel I've ever stayed at in my entire life. Think Hollywood horror movie like Hostel. The rats were almost as big as a small child. I felt unsafe the entire stay, and I'm just glad we made it out alive. If you don't believe me, give it a try....

The hotel looked ok when we arrived, but we found the toilet leaking and the bathroom floor flooded when we woke up the next morning. We we requested it to be fixed, but when we came back we had no water in the toilet because they simply turned off the faucet. Then after 11pm the front desk called us and told us that we can go to pick up the card key […] and move to another room if we'd like. It was very annoying having to move in the middle of the night, but we had to because it's still better than not being able to use the toilet. The new room, as it turned out, was right next to the front desk and really noisy early in the morning when people come to have complementary breakfast and check out. We were here for only 1 night and enjoyed our stay very much. The front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was super clean and the bed was so comfortable. Loved the Bath & Body Works amenities. Breakfast was a nice surprise with make your own waffles and yummy coffee. The location was in a very nice neighborhood and convenient to restaurants, […] shopping, metro and attractions. They let you leave your bags for the day even after you have checked out which is a big plus so you don't have to wheel your luggage around with you. I can't wait to visit them again. This hotel is conveniently located in one of the better locations of the District and you won't find a better deal IF... you need to understand that getting a deal in DC comes with some concessions. The rooms are very small...my room barely had space to stretch out and the bed occupied most of it. It is an old building but the bathroom was clean and […] almost as large as the sleeping area. There was not closet and the only implement to hang my things was a nail protruding out of a wall in the bathroom, but I overcame this defect because my garment bag has a device to allow me to hang it over a door. There was a small dresser and cable connected television, but this is not a room that you an look forward to spending any time in unless you are inclined to be a recluse of sorts. Nevertheless, the staff was friendly, the cleaning personnel were diligent and, again, the location is excellent. There are restaurants and shops in every direction and I found a number of pubs where you could simply settle in and take in the local happenings. Bottom line....this is a room for sleeping and taking care of your personal needs. It isn't what I would call family friendly or even ADA appropriate, parking is at a premium, but there are a number of garages in the area. My suggestion on parking in DC is to leave your vehicle at the lot and use the bus, taxi or bicycle shares, or really WALK...it is a great way to absorb the place and make it a part of your adventure.
