Hotel was comfortable. We had a room for disabled customers. The shower area was prone to flooding and the tile needed caulking. Hotel is well appointed but in a seedy area near the airport with lots of construction going on nearby. Streets/sidewalks in a poor state of repair. They have a nice in house restaurant and bar. Hotel car park was expensive. Shuttle runs at certain hours to airport and Rome central. We had to get a taxi for 15 euros!!!! to the airport as we had an early start.

We selected this hotel because it is close to the airport but it is actually about 2 miles away. You'll need to take a shuttle, at 6 euros per person, or a taxi to get there. If you have 3 people or more in your group is cheaper to take a taxi. Also you have to schedule the shuttle and prepay to be dropped or picked-up from the airport so don't forget to call ahead. There is no shuttle from 12:35 to 4:00. Unbelievable! The TVs have channels for a lot of languages but only CNBC, BBC, a Russian channel, a Japanese channel, and Bloomberg for English speakers. why would I be interested in Japanese news in English???? The food is terribly expensive and just average. 20 euros for the breakfast buffet. We just walked down the street to a local bar and had breakfast for 3 euros for both of us. The rooms were fine and the service was good. We needed a cork screw to open a bottle of wine and the waiter came to the room right away to open the bottle. The pillows were bad, dense and hard.

I picked this hotel because I wanted a room close to FCO and because they had an airport shuttle. We could not find the shuttle at FCO for 40 min and had to take a taxi for 30 E. Got to hotel and our room had no heat. Next morning, told that "free" shuttle was 6 E each person. Internet did not work in room also. All in all, worst experience in Europe. Food was bad too.

This is a hotel that offers a lot of convenient services. It is a perfect hotel to stay in if you are in Rome for a meeting and then want to take off without really seeing the City. It is a great location for getting to the airport conveniently and without a traffic jam. They offer services to take you into the city so that is nice also, but if you are there to enjoy staying in the city then it isn't the place to be. Over all it was a great place for our last night in Rome and an early flight.

This hotel was sparkling and comfy (except for the hard bed), but.....one reason we booked it was its proximity to Fiumicino Airport and the fact that it had a shuttle (at 6 Euros per). Problem was that the shuttle started at 5:50 AM, and we needed to leave at 5 AM. Now, the shuttle driver was there at 4:45, but I guess he needed to pace up and down for a while. So, we took a taxi that cost a flat fee of $30 to go 3.5 kilometers. The bar and restaurant were incredibly expensive, but, if you buy the $$$ drinks at the bar, you get free munchies, which probably would have been better than the club sandwich I ordered. Now, why didn't the bartender tell us that the munchies would be out there in 5 minutes? He was soooooooo sorry that I didn't like the club! We did get to use the computer in the business room for free.

The Marriott is an American style hotel that feels wonderful after you've spent a few days or weeks in Europe and gotten used to the typical cramped hotel rooms you find. The Marriott even has a nice swimming pool and fitness center--something you don't find in Italy except at the super-deluxe level. It's in Fiumicino, where the Rome Airport is.. a five or ten-minute ride by taxi or by the hotel shuttle (at 6 euros a person--taxi is 15 euros). The neighborhood isn't much of anything...police station, couple of unattractive cafes, lots of auto parts stores. But there's a darn good Italian restaurant--the De Ville--only a block from the hotel. All in all, it was a good choice for the last night of our stay.

At check-in our front desk agent was rude and unwelcoming and later that evening my husband got sick (as a result of something he ate) and we were contemplating calling an ambulance...the hotel staff spent most of the time standing around us talking in Italian and staring rather then trying to be helpful and assist us getting him to our room. It was a frigtening experience and the hotel staff made it even worse. While the hotel room and common areas were nice and well kept for the price we paid, the quality of personal service we recieved made it an awful stay.

Also, I think for the price we paid for the hotel room, there should have been a free continental breakfast included.

We stayed at this Marriott one night prior to leaving Italy on an early am flight. The location is great for that very reason, close to airport, it was approx. a 5 min drive in the hotel shuttle . The rooms were clean, the continental breakfast was ok. Our 9 year old son loved the pool and we enjoyed the outside bar, but it was pricey (8 euro for a glass of wine). What we didn't like was the fact that there is nothing within walking distance. A member of the reception desk told us there were restaurants located within a 15 min. walk, well, 45 min. later we had finally found something which was closed (siesta!!) So all in all, it was ok but if you are looking for something nearby forget it.

Do not anticipate visiting any of Rome itself. That was our requirement, so it met our needs. Restaurant prices in the hotel were extremely high, but nearby restaurants and cafes (within a 5-minute walk) were reasonable. The hotel was clean and everyone was friendly and spoke English. Fiumicino is an airport and fishing town so no one can expect it to be like Rome or other more upscale towns. It is small but surprisingly had some upscale restaurants. Walking from the hotel to downtown is not pretty but seemed safe and was only a 5 minute walk. Was interesting to walk along the river and look at the boats and fishing activities. The hotel restaurant was very nice and the hotel had complimentary appetizers in the evening which were very good. No complimentary breakfast, however. The shuttle was for a fee but affordable and was on time although filled to the maximum. It was a 10 minute ride to the airport which was the reason we stayed in Fiumicino and at the hotel. Bed was comfortable though the shower is almost flat to the bathroom floor and did overflow a bit which we had to mop up with towels. The internet was easy to access and fairly quick (normally a cost but they gave it to us for free since we asked).
