Eaglereach Wilderness Resort - Vacy

nice weather, picturesque views, nice spa and friendly staff. We enjoyed the fishing and the restaurant. The breakfast was very good. Hire DVDs for some more fun. It was a good getaway.

We stayed in the resort lodge which was nice and comfortable, with easy access to a spa with views of the valley, pool table, full size shared kitchen and lounge area. The private land includes some nice easy to follow walking trails and access to a shared pool, tennis court and kayaking on the lagoon. The tennis court looked great (sadly it was too […] warm to play), the size of the lagoon to kayak on was a little disappointing though. This place is pretty remote, so once you are here you are here with no quick drives into town for supplies so bring everything you need. We went the resort for a weekend away and had an amazing experience. The staff were lovely, the lodge was better than I expected. It was large, clean, comfortable and the view took your breath away. Lots of activities to keep you busy. Depending on how long you are staying I would recommend you bring all the food/snacks/drinks you need with you. The couple of days we spent there was really great : the lodges are on top of the mountain, overlooking the valley. They're really far aprt so that you feel really alone with nature. Surrounding Park is great, lots of animals to see hiking, biking etc. Staff was great, really nice and helpful.

The resort is remote and navigation to it is not easy ... unmade and crude roads - at some point out of the town of Vacy, a sign indicates that "Eagle Reach Resort" is 5 km - believing this to be untrue, I measured this to be 11 km when I left. Once there, the drive is definitely worthwhile - the views are stunning, the property is extensive and well […] worth some hiking and swimming (there is a rather chilly lagoon but the water appears clean). Not sure what the population of kangaroos is - but they are everywhere so I took many photos - a family of roos appeared to be living underneath the lodge I was housed in - and when arguments broke out, tended to be noisy. There was a whirlpool in the lodge and I took advantage of the masseur (good) they had in their fitness center. The restaurant served simple food ... but OK, nothing fancy. I stayed at the resort as an escape from some business commitments in the Hunter Valley area - and it was the highlight of my trip to Australia. Read more

Overall a great place to stay if you want to get away from it all. Our room was lovely, just a bit dusty. Also felt that some things could be maintained a bit better such as the BBQs and the mountain bikes (which were out of service when we were there). Other facilities such as the pool and tennis court were great. All staff were very friendly and helpful. […] The bistro is nice but has a limited menu so make sure to bring supplies if you don't want to eat there every night. The location is superb, away from the bustle of Sydney madness. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the restaurant food was excellent. However, the accommodation is dated and in poor repair state. It was comfortable enough but a lot of maintenance and upgrading is needed in the lodges. Had a very relaxed weekend.

This hotel is an excellent getaway for couples and families. There are enough things to do to keep you entertained for a couple of days without day trips.
