Great location for walking or taking public transportation. One each of beer, soda, juice, flat water & carbonated water in mini bar included everyday. Nice treat. Great coffee at Einsten Kafee at corner where Checkpoint Charlie is located. Nice walk there from hotel in morning. 100 steps or so to public transportation.

The Angleterre is located near Checkpoint Charlie, just a short walk from Gendarmenplatz, Unter den Linden (10 mins.), and Museum Insel (15 mins.), and only a few meters from the Kochstrasse subway station. The rooms are clean and well-designed with modern furniture. They feature free Wi-Fi and a nicely stocked minibar with beer, juice, sodas, and mineral […] water. The staff is friendly and efficient. The only drawback (if any) is the unusual layout of the hotel's main floor, which takes some getting used to. The modern floorplan is slightly at odds with that of the original Neo-Gothic building. Otherwise the Angleterre is an excellent option for a comfortable and affordable stay in Berlin. Read more

This hotel had the best location! It was very clean and the staff was very helpful. The only problem I had was that the listing said that they had airport transportation for a surcharge...yeah...that means that they can call you a taxi to get you there...the taxi runs about 22 euro. I thought it was a little misleading.

I arrived early, too early to check in & during Fashion Week & the reservation was made for me well in advance. Which, I'm sorry but that truly seems to me to be more than just a "request" I can sleep in any size room or bed, but what I can't sleep in is a room that wreaks of cigarettes! I discussed with the front desk & he put me in another room, which was an "upgrade" however this room also smelled awful, had cigarette burns in both the rug & bench cover. Even after discussing yet again at the front desk with 'no manager available" I left in disgust & am trying to still contact them with regard to how poorly the room was & the service I received. Location of the hotel is very good and the rooms have A/C which during the summer is a big plus but there are a number of things that were disappointing: 1) WIFI - smoke signals are faster. When I asked the hotel why it was taking so long to download information over my Iphone (WhatsApp, news, etc.) I was told that it must be that there are too many […] people connected. Seems like there were too many people connected all the time the four days I stayed 2) Rooms can be updated - lobby and social areas seem to have been renovated but my suite had a very old carpet which looked dirty. We did not like it at all. 3) Convenience goods - No shampoo is provided and we had to request the replacement of soap frequently. This is an excellent hotel, quite centrally located. We got a fantastic rate during a busy holiday weekend, and could not have been happier. Breakfast buffet was nice, but probably a miss at €17 a head. Our room was clean, modern and well-appointed.

The staff was very friendly and always available. I really appreciate how clean everything was, the lobby, the halls, not just my room which was imacutate. Wireless is free but I forgot my laptop so they have a computer in the lobby for guests, which is also free. An older hotel that works hard to remain a 4-star experience. Spacious and comfortable room, nice staff, very good breakfast. Right next to Kochstrasse (Checkpoint Charlie) U-Bahn-- not much of a neighborhood, but not far from better places. Heat struggled to maintain warmth in a big room with a high ceiling.

The hotel is in a very convenient location. The metro is almost right in front of the hotel. Yet the area is quiet. Room is clean and comfortable. Breakfast is good but a little pricey for what they offer. Staff are very nice and helpful. I will stay again next time.

I arrived at around 10am and they were happy to check me straight into a room. That's always a bonus for me. The room itself was fine, nothing out of the ordinary although given I don't know the German language, watching TV was a real problem. Next time i'd prefer to stay somewhere more central. If you are looking for a decent gym, the one they have is very small and the equipment is ancient. It isn't too cheap to use the gym and sauna. When I inquired in the lobby, within the earshot of other patrons, about the Internet connection in the room, I was assured everything was available & I only need check the Hotel TV channel for instructions. The staff of the hotel was very helpful from giving me change to buy metrocards to advising on travel times, areas, food and fixing slight issues with the room. The Angleterre Hotel is a superb hotel that represents exccelent value for the costs (especially Expedia rates). The hotel is extremely well maintained, very clean, and remarkably quiet. Our room (the higher priced Comfort Room) was spacious, very quiet (on the inner courtyard), with a well equipped and comfortable bathroom (with really nice and large […] bathtub). The television only had two English language news channels but no other English programming. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a full range of food (hot and cold). It gets crowded at certain times but the staff is very efficient and polite and we always were able to get seats. The hotel is a few blocks from Checkpoint Charlie and literally a few steps from the Kocjstrasse U Bahn stop (giving access to the entire city). The front desk was efficient, completely proficient in English, and quite helpful. The hotel is air conditioned with individual controls (which work well)--and that is important as only a small percentage of Berlin hotels have air conditioning. The area of the hotel is quite safe although it gets a little quiet at night--with plenty of Internet, coffee and other facilities nearby. I would recommend, without hesitation, this hotel. Finally, the best deal in Berlin--the 100 or 200 bus for a few Euros tour of the city. Read more
