"Good location, show age and wear"
I don't stay in 1 or 5 star hotels (dumps or outrageously expensive). I seek moderately priced 4-star and typically use Hamptons as a benchmark. This hotel is below my 4-star standard mostly because it is old and shows a lot of wear and tear. The location is good - within walking distance of downtown Gatlin shopping and restaurants. It is very near […] the ski lift and viewing tower. Since parking is a problem in this area, it is good to have a location close enough to walk. It is also on a bus route if you want to circle the area that way. The room was a typical hotel room and was clean but was well worn. We purchased their buffet breakfast for about $9 and it was a good meal with all you could eat. The road in front of their place takes you directly into a very nice park drive and hiking options. The front desk people were nice and the pool was unusual with a waterfalls/fountain-type thing that made it better than the typical plain pool. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Keeping tradition alive"
We stayed at Glenstone Lodge couple of times during a 10 year periods when my kids were little and they are the ones that decided to stay there again even though they are 19 and 18 years old. It was great memories for them then and now. They loved the pool when they were little. Great walking distance to the main street of Gatlinburg.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was in walking distance of my event, the staff was friendly, and my room was nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice room; good price."
Nice (but not super-fancy) rooms with useful amenities for a very reasonable price. We like that it is walking distance to everything in Gatlinburg and is easy access to National Park. Good parking. We also enjoyed the pool area. Highly recommended.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great - except for cleanliness"
A little dated, but surprisingly nice, family friendly hotel with great staff and fantastic pool, easy walking distance fromthe main strip in Gatlinburg - but we had a couple cleanliness issues. One, some hair on the side of the tub. Two, a rather large bug in the pool area (came out of the large planted area, I think). I almost hate to write this, […] since the staff was so friendly and helpful and the place otherwise seemed very clean - not like they were letting it go - so maybe we were just unlucky, but I feel compelled to be completely honest about our experience. I would really like to recommend the place, but hesitate because of the hair and bug. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Middling Quality, middling value"
Older hotel, a bit long in the tooth, and a bit overpriced for its condition.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff was very good. The breakfast at the hotel was also very good and priced well compared to a nearby pancake restaurant. The indoor pool water looked cloudy during our 3 day stay so we didn't use it. located about a 1/2 mile walk to downtown and there is a shuttle stop just outside. We stayed the third week […] in May so tourism was down. One night there was a couple with small children in the adjoining room.We could hear them talking so the sound insulation is a little weak. We didn't consider it a problem. Overall, it's a decent place to stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not bad, not great."
There are a couple of things about Glenstone Lodge that worked out really well for us. The first is that they hotel still had rooms available after many others had sold out for the holiday weekend. We arrived 2 hours before check in time, but our room was already ready for us, so that was great. The hotel is old, but the rooms were clean. Each room […] has a balcony and I really enjoyed that. There is a rather nice indoor pool. There were some things I didn't like though, first of all this hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk from anything on the main strip and the walk back and forth got old quickly, on the other hand it was really easy to access the park, which is the main reason I go to Gatlinburg anyway. My biggest complaint is that the shower in our room was seemingly affected by every other faucet in the entire hotel, so as soon as I would get the water temperature where I wanted it I would be blasted with either freezing cold or burning hot water. Personally I think the hotel is a bit overpriced for being so far from the strip, but if you had a family that would make better use of the pool it might be worth it. Not bad, but I probably won't stay there again specifically because of the location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"One glorious stay!"
This was a wonderful vacation experience! The Glenstone was more than we could have imagined. From the courteous staff checking in, everything and everyone was excellent. Our room was immaculate and if you lucky enough to be poolside, you have a spectacular inside pool with a built in waterfall. There is even a small little putt-putt place for kiddies. […] The breakfast price and the food were the best ever...again staff the best. We would definitely return and plan to!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"memorial dayweekend 2013"
Hotel staff not very well prepared for the weekend and all surrounding events. Recieved an upgrade according to desk from the room we reserved witha balcony to king suite with a view of the back parking lot and the roof over the pool. Not quite sure why we told the price of the upgrade, but it was late and we needed to get dinner. Then the advertised […] buffet was less value than what was advertised including no staff to handle it and no egg station for the advertised omlets. It was quite obvious the various managing staff had no idea what was happening around then as they walked through the guest areas. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Room smelled like mold. The rooms facing the inner courtyard with the pool are incredible noisy from the waterfall and people screaming in the pool area. Get a room that faces the outside!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"not what I expected"
After arriving at the hotel well after midnight and a 24 hrs on the road (incl. a couple of stops) all I wanted was a clean hotel room, a shower and some sleep. There was lace (dirt/spider?) on the outside of the curtains, the inside of the window was dity and the bathtub full of water spots and some hair. We where told it would be cleaned after 10am. […] I booked a 2 queen bed room with balcony and mountain view and got a king br with rooftop view. The only reason we stayed was because our kids had a room there, too. Our compensation was a free breakfast. the photos where send to you already. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Our stay wasn't extraordinary and it wasn't a bad. Our room was very clean. I do advise asking for a room in the "tower". We stayed near the indoor pool and there was constant traffic by our door. We were on the third floor on the back section of the hotel/motel. This area was very out dated/old and I assume this was the budget section for people that […] booked thru third party travel sites. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant as the buffet was more expensive than walking a couple of blocks to a nearby restaurant. Downtown Gatlinburg was a short 10 minute walk and the trolley stop was right outside the hotel if we preferred to ride. The people at the front desk was very helpful. We would stay here again. "Better with kids"
We had a room right behind the waterfall of the indoor pool. Big mistake for just 2 adults. Very noisey until 11 pm. Hard to hear inside the room. Beds were hard, pillows were nice. Shower curtain was not a liner and no weights in it so kept blowing into the shower. Lots of kids so a good family hotel. Pool was somewhat lacking, hot tub was hard to […] get in and out, but kids seem to love the pool and the design of it. The location was very good. Big tourist area, be prepared to walk a lot or ride the trolley. Heavy traffic on the main street. Overall I would stay there again, just get a different room area. I went for this lodge knowing that my 10 year old would love the pools. They became a great life-saver when my husband ended up sick for much of our trip. The rooms are basic but clean. The soda and ice machines didn't work on the 4th floor.Genuine Expedia guest review
Well, I booked for a balcony, which I thought would be a little private porch off from the room, but that is not what we got. So was somewhat disappointed in that regard.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very impressed with this hotel"
We were very impressed with this hotel. It was very reasonably priced and very clean. The indoor pool was very nice. Out door looked nice, but it was too cold outside to actually swim in it. It was not a bad walk to and from the Gatlinburg Strip and there was a Trolley Stop between this hotel and the one above it for those who don't want to have to […] walk. It was close to restaurants and easy to find. Overall, our stay wonderful and we would recommend this hotel to anyone. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Quiet for Us But Not For Some"
This hotel was very close to the places that we wished to visit. It is an older hotel but looked very nice although some of the hallways and the pool area had some "interesting" smells. Our room was clean and spacious though and no unusual smell! The mattress was so-so. We stayed on the fifth (and top) floor just to the left of the front elevator and […] it was surprisingly quiet. (There was a gentleman at the front desk when we were checking out requesting that he be moved away from the rooms that open into the pool area. His family had not been able to sleep because of the loud noises outside his room.) Overall the price was great for what we got. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

To be an older Hotel, I thought it was a nice place, well kept and conveniently located and priced. My room was in need of some TLC. The pool was over crowded, loud and you could not see thru the water to the bottom of the pool. There was no lifeguard so kids were jumping from top level to bottom pool, jumping into hot tub, and running everywhere. The hot tub jets did not work. Overall pool felt very dirty. When front desk told they were out of towels in the pool, I was informed […] it was because we had used alot of them all day, I didn't , it was the first time I had been at the pool, maybe it was the hundreds of kids in the pool with no parents. The rooms weren't bad, the bathroom was very small and crowded, showers were old. We left after 2 days instead of the 4 we were going to stay and went to another hotel. We would not stay there again. Response by Glenstone Lodge Thank you for your comments. We regret that we did not meet your expectations. Most hotels do not provide a lifeguard at the pool unless they are a hotel with a waterpark, therefore we rely on parents or guardians to watch their own children. We do replenish towels frequently, and perhaps this was the short time in which they had run out and had not yet been replenished. We regret the inconvenience this caused you.
"Nice - but don't stay on the pool side."
The hotel was in a great location and I believe the rooms with the 'mountain view' would have been the better choice. The inside pool view rooms, although convenient for the kids and swimming, were less than desirable because of the noise from the pool. They close the pool at 11pm - but for those of us that like to go to bed early and get up early this […] created a bad night. For hotel owners, if you would consider installing another glass wall on the open side it would make it much quieter. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The rooms were really nice, however I was disappointed because the fireplace in my room did not work and couldn't be fixed during our stay. "good for price paid"
It was nice for the price we paid. Our room wouldn't lock and the woman at the front desk immediately gave us a new room which was nice and fast. The breakfast..we gave it a try. And passed. Other than the breakfast the hotel was worth its money. The outside is pretty dated but the hotel was very clean and had a cool pool indoors.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very, very good value"
Glenstone is a somewhat older, but well-maintained, hotel. The place was very clean and conveniently located (pretty good hike up the hill when coming back, recommend the trolly). This hotel is very old. No remodel at all. The pool was nice but was so cold the kids were shivering. The beds were hard and wore out having a clear depression in the middle. "Front desk rude! ok stay"
As we checked into our room we asked for a luggage cart and they told us if we wanted one we had to go find one! During our entire stay the front desk never spoke to us till we checked out. […] They never smiled or asked us how things were going. "Old skool retro and great for the price."
This is an old skool beautiful hotel. For the price it was great. Basic amenities (small fridge). Maintenance needed a little work, but those items are easy fixes just un reported items. hotel was not very clean, especially the hallways with someone who just swept up a whole pile of dirt and debris by the ice machine which sat there for the two days we were there. cleaning of room was sub standard as far as cleaners forgetting to replenish soaps.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location, good price."
Good location, close to downtown. Rooms were clean but dated.Genuine Expedia guest review
There was no wi-fi in the rooms, only in the lobby and pool area. There was no free continental breakfast. Other than that, it was fine.Genuine Expedia guest review
I don't think you can really avoid the traffic of Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge completely, but this hotel is on the side of the parkway nearer to the Smoky Mountain National Park, so I would recommend taking the Gatlinburg bypass and then going back onto the parkway in that direction, to avoid some of the traffic, especially during peak times. So if you […] have decided to visit Gatlinburg, which I personally wouldn't recommend for other reasons, this hotel seems pretty typical of the area. It is within walking distance of all of the downtown attractions with plenty of parking, which is important since driving around is infuriating. The hotel though is designed in very weird way. Some of the rooms. including the one I stayed in, instead of having windows facing outside had windows facing the balcony-styled hallway and indoor pool area. I would have preferred no window at all. I don't want people looking in my window! There are curtains obviously, but you can still the them walking around through between the shades... That's not a huge deal, but the pool area is just so noisy. The pool/faux waterfall makes loud noise itself 24/7, and the screaming of kids at the crack of dawn is just an added bonus. Also there was no wifi signal in my hotel room, and breakfast is not included, which made me think I'd be better off at motel 6 which is right across the street. But, like I said the hotel seemed typical of Gatlinburg, not that great. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
