They turned off the central air conditioning from 12am-6am. It was still cold in Seoul, but I had to sleep without any heat, which is totally unacceptable. I think they can do better.

I recently spent 4 nights at this hotel, on a first visit to Seoul. It had been recommended to me mostly because of convenience for some things I needed to do. I spent virtually zero time in the hotel, other than sleeping, breakfast and dinner - so I never used any of the general facilities. Be aware that although the hotel states that all its rooms are non-smoking, it is NOT true. Certain floors are for smoking. This should be made clear in the promotional materials. Also, there are noises from subway construction. Otherwise, the hotel is very good. I enjoyed staying there.

The Ramada Seoul is very dirty - windows, carpets, and furniture need to be cleaned. The lamp on the desk could only be turned off by unplugging it and the outlet by the desk to use a computer sent off sparks when I tried to plug in my laptop. An airport shuttle bus stops in front of the hotel every 30 minutes, beginning at 5:00a.m. Tickets for the shuttle are very inexpensive. Stayed in the hotel only a few nights. Surrounding area has a lot of places to eat, albeit a bit noisy with construction, not the hotels fault. The Ramada Seoul is in a convenient location on the southern side of the Han river. There are some good points and bad points about this hotel. The good points: 1) Location. The Ramada is reasonably near two major subway (metro) lines, and a an extension of a 3rd one (the '9 line') will run right outside. It is also near the Coex convention center and […] shopping mall, which is a very nice and reasonably priced mall. 2) Price. Compared with many Seoul hotels (and other big city hotels) this Ramada is reasonably priced. 3) The restaurants and club room. The restaurants are fine and convenient. The club room for those staying on the executive floors, is also very nice, and serves good food all day and a nice dinner-like happy hour from 6 to 8pm. It is well worth it to pay for the executive room just to get that clubroom included. The not-so-good: 1) The rooms are small. They can't do much about that in the short run, though, and they are probably adequate for most travelers travelling alone. 2) The fixtures in the room are old. The beds are low, small, and very hard. The TV is old and the channel selection so-so, unless you understand Korean. Very few international channels. They should bring in the Discovery Channels that are available in Asia, National Geographic, and the BBC channels. They have a very limited selection of each. This they can fix soon and should. 3) Although you can control the room temperature, the controller works very poorly. This they can fix also. Read more

This hotel has an amazing basement level spa; it is like a mini-city! Various pools/tubs, saunas, a movie theatre with recliners, resturant and barber shop/massge parlor are all a part of it. The area around the hotel is currently under heavy construction; they are building many new hotels/buildings and the road is all torn up for a new subway station. Once completed the location will be great! As it is, the nearest station is a hilly 10-minute walk from the hotel. But there is also a large, very green park right behind the hotel that has historical monuments in it, which makes for a nice walk! I picked this hotel because of its location close to friends we were visiting. I was a little skeptical of a Ramada but pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean, comfortable and the staff was very helpful. The hotel is located next to a delightful park that was great for a morning stroll and also close to the subway. The Ramada Seoul is a great option for travelers looking to stay in-and-around the Gangnam area of Seoul. It is within walking distance of the COEX, the Seven Luck Casino, and the Jamsil Sports Complex. Our room was large and had all of the amenities expected; the only issue encountered was with the in-room air conditioning functionality. The staff […] told us that even though there are individual temperature controls in each room, the air conditioning system is a central system and the decision on whether-or-not to use it is controlled by the hotel management. This means you don't really have control over the temperature in your room unless they have elected to activate the system. Luckily for us we could open a window to cool-down the room as it was cool outside, but I could see this being an issue to a lot of people whom want to keep their room at a certain temperature. Other than this our stay was fine and we didn't encounter any major issues. The bright spot for this hotel is the staff. We never had any issues communicating in english and any requests we made were met quickly and with a smile. Definitely cannot give the staff any less than 5 stars. The price was fair, the staff was friendly, and the location was great. The hotel is also in good condition both on the exterior and interior. The Ramada Seoul was very nicely located next to the park where they buried all the kings of Korea. You get a nice view no matter which side you're on. We had a city view from the 14th floor, others would've had the park view, which in Summer time is VERY green. The hotel is located directly in between a line 2/Bungdang Subway Station and a line 7 […] Subway Station. Both are about 700-800 meters from the hotel. We ordered room service and it was brought up promptly and tasted great. The TV channel selection was limited, but they had CNN, Discovery, and all the normal Korean channels. There were some stains on the floor and side of the bed trim, but they did not look like "dirty" stains. And... either the walls are a bit thin, or a couple was being very loud the next room over. We heard all 3 minutes of it.... The hotel staff was great, the bathroom had a bidet, and there were many comforts of home (towels, bathrobes, beauty clean-up supplies, Q-tips, scale, etc...), the airconditioner was a slow cool-down, but it worked. They have renovated the Ramada Seoul fairly recently. The rooms are reasonably up to date. But the beds are very uncomfortable. They are old and hard and small. I have stayed at this Ramada four times since 2005, and the beds were always the same. Another shortcoming of the hotel for international travelers is that there are very few English language […] channels. This is too bad, as now in Asia, the whole range of Discovery Channel, National Geographic, and A&E / History channels are available (with local subtitles). The hotel should really subscribe to some of these channels (I have seen only the main Discovery Channel and the National Geographic Channel). There was no English language news program in my recent stay. These are all improveable items that the hotel could address fairly easily over the next couple of years. On the upside, if you don't mind an uncomfortable bed, the hotel is very convenient (across from a new subway line, and walking distance to 3 others, also walking distance to the Coex mall and convention center). The hotel is old, faded and tired. The only non-smoking room I have stayed in with cigarette burns in the carpet, and dingy stained yellow net curtains are totally off putting.
