"perfect for going to all areas"
had a nice few days in dooleys hotelGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We only stayed here for one night in between traveling around Ireland. Our room was small and not very comfortable. Regardless, the staff was very helpful and the location of the hotel was right on the water and in the middle of town.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the staff were excellent, the pub was great with excellent live music. location was handy ... across the street from the bus station and ample parking with a hotel discount. stay hereGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location, no soundproofing"
hotel is a little "tired", needs a good face-lift (cosmetic like carpets, paint etc.) My room faced the river (very nice) but also overlooked the road. I could clearly hear the traffic, so much it woke me at 6 am. Double glazed windows but either worn out or badly fitted so a very noisy room.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Staff could'nt have been nicer!"
At first I was not pleased w/my room. It was to be non-smoking & was'nt. I was about to leave to find some place else, when the front desk manager asked if he could show me more rooms to chose from. He was able to find me a quiet, warm, and comfortable room. I'm glad I stayed!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Date with my wife"
It was great. They gave us the honeymoon suite which was big and lovely. Parking was additional and across the street but we got a small discount on the price. 3 euros vs. 5 euros. Close to city center and a lot of sights.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient hotel for Waterford, Ireland"
This is a tourist hotel and for it's category they do a good job. Some staff not experienced, but all try hard to please. Restaurant a 3.0!Genuine Expedia guest review

Very helpful and pleasant staff. This hotel is highly recommended for your stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is a fine mix of modern convenience and old world charm. It is family run and has that feel. I have no complaints, the dinner was delicious, the service was courteous. I wouldn't pass it on any future trip to Waterford.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Easy to find and got parked just across the road."
Really enjoyed our stay. It was only one night but the room was great we had a double and two single beds for the children. Better than most hotels as we usually get a double and a pull out bed for the kids to share which doesn't work very well. The breakfast was excellent and the staff really helpful. Had a meal in the bar which was also great.Genuine Expedia guest review
My friend and I stayed overnight in Dooleys and thoroughly enjoyed it. We found the staff friendly and eager to please, both over the phone and in person. We ate bar-food and it was reasonably priced and tasty. the waitress was chatty and efficient. The twin room was comfortable, clean, had tea/coffee facilities and was peaceful. All in all a pleasant […] stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Dooleys no longer on the good list!!!"
I booked an overnight stay with my daughter and a friend and her child for a Christmas treat, after a trip to "Mount Juliet" which was amazing. My general opinion of the hotel is very poor, the "welcome" at reception was severely lacking and staff seemed at best dis- interested. The"family" room was tiny , with not three beds as advertised but two beds […] and a camp bed which had seen better days. Three out of four sockets I tried to use to charge phones etc. were not working , the tv remote also broken and the shower was the worst I have ever encountered in a hotel, the drizzle of water made actually washing yourself an impossibility. Very disappointing. I would have relayed this opinion to the hotel staff if they had made any enquiry as to my stay on checking out. Will not be returning. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We finished our Ireland holiday in Waterford and after staying in a variety of hostels, B&B's and private rentals decided to stay in a conventional hotel. We found Dooley's to be a nice average hotel. The room was large, bathroom was clean and the location in the hotel very quiet even though the main hotel faced a busy street. The breakfast was spectacular […] and provided a great start to the day. Also the parking was right across the street and was very inexpensive. The biggest downside were unhelpful staff that treated us as though were were interrupting them/bothering them when we had questions. Also, the internet access was locked down and was doled out with 1 hour free passes and expensive per-device, all-day access. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Disappointed in Waterford"
I am sure, at one time, it was a very nice hotel. However, it has been let go. Our room was in disrepair from the carpet coming loose that tripped me on the way out of the bathroom to the mold noticeably growing on the wall above the shower. Our towels were so worn they actually had strings hanging on the bottom. The sheets were also in poor condition. […] They would have been used as rags in our home. I wasn't expecting it to be anything fancy, but I was hoping it would be clean and in good . Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Best of the old world!"

Dooley's hotel is a gem in Waterford. The first thing that strikes you is the service. The staff deserve10 out of 10 for their friendliness and diligent service. The second is the quirky room numbering. Don't try and work it out just ask. The lifts are too small for tour groups but the stairs are close by. The restaurant, bar set up is very charming. The hotel is really close to the heart of town and right on the River Suir. I would come here again!
"Horrible experience in Waterford."

Waterford is my home county. I have spent a lot of my life here and know Waterford to be a particularly welcoming city. Dooleys Hotel still has to learn of this. On arrival here, we went to reception to check in. We had booked rooms through Expedia. There were three of us using two rooms. The only available rooms on Expedia were a family and a double. As we were a same sex couple and a single man, two rooms were required. Staff at reception seemed to be amazed at this, and asked several times who was using which room. I found myself becoming quite irate, even at check in stage, but let it pass, as there were several people waiting to check in. They all had to listen to this and one man actually commented that they needed to grow up and begin living in the 21st century. We waited several minutes to use the single lift that serves this establishment. A coach party had arrived and hotel staff were bringing luggage to rooms, and as it is a very small elevator, it was engaged quite a lot. We had dinner and decided on an early night, as we were attending a funeral on the following day. Surprise surprise...we had hardly gotten into bed when the noise began. Endless corridor noises, which we thought would end when the bar dwindled off. Not the case. We were subjected to a lot of very loud noise from overhead and next door. We made at least 14 calls to reception, none of which were answered. My partner then dressed and went downstairs, to be greeted by a night porter, who couldn't leave his post to investigate. Security? None that she could see. Reception? Vacant. Coming back upstairs, the noise continued until after 3.30am. At this stage, we were wide awake and unable to sleep. Breakfast was mediocre. Dried out hotel fare. We expected nothing sensational and weren't disappointed. Checking out, we related the incident of the previous night. We were informed that nobody else had complained. Was this supposed to make us feel good? We asked for a parking token - there is no free parking in this hotel. We were given a parking token free, as a gesture of goodwill, for our disastrous stay, which had cost us 140 euro. Never again. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who has any value on a half decent nights sleep. The hotel and its staff are a disgrace to my home city.
"Very comfortable hotel in a great location"

I was at Dooley's hotel for business and woud hapily return for pleasure. I had a very comfortable and quiet room overlooking the canal. The staff were extremely helpful as I had questions regarding both onward travel and the internet, which they dealt with quickly and efficiently. I really enjoyed the good Irish breakfast and the live music in the bar
"Exceptional service after rough travel day"

We arrived about 8 p.m on a Wednesday after traveling by ferry from Wales. We had had trouble with rental car agency and only just made the ferry. We were a stressed group of three adults and three young boys. The staff were professional, soothing and so sympathetic. Before we knew it we were checked in, parking found for our van and we were sitting down in the pub for excellent food and live music. Our evening passed peacefully and in comfort. Our family room was perfect for our family of four. My brother in law and nephew had a smaller room for the two of them, also very nice. We truly enjoyed our very first night in Ireland because the staff, particularly Gemma, made us so welcome.

Lovely hotel but very confusing numbers , we got lost each time we lost or returned to our room. Excellent food my husband loved the beef stew had this the two nights we were there. Really good breakfast. Staff throughout the hotel were pleasant. Not so keen on our room the bed needed replacing as mattress was sagging , quite noinsy as we overlooked the kitchen and bar people rolling metal barrels at midnight with staff talking on mobiles. And no outlook at all. Bar was great with good food etc: Good position on the waterfront. Very irish!
"Cozy, historic, centrally located hotel with friendly staff."
08/23/14 Gregg H Bronx, New York
DOOLEY HOTEL The Dooley Hotel is a centrally located historic hotel. It is within walking distance of the harbor and the historic district. The lobby has a high ceiling accented by a magnificent glass chandelier, a beautiful hanging woolen, several traditional paintings, a few bust, and a few wing back chairs that makes you feel very comfortable upon entering the lobby. The front desk personnel are friendly and very helpful. There is a nice size pub with music in the evening in the hotel, a large restaurant and a meeting room on the first floor. However, whoever the architect was that designed this hotel as it was expanding over the years, must have been using some serious drugs. In order to get to my room on the 1st level after exiting the elevator, I had to wall down eight steps and down a small corridor then was greeted by another 2 steps, then took another 4 steps, then walked down a narrow corridor only to face 5 more steps then another two. When I reached my room I was exhausted. I opened the door and was greeted to another 4 steps going down to the bed. Wow ! The room had character and was medium size with an Egyptian motif - several pictures of Tutankhamun, hieroglyphs, and an image of the Nile River with travelers. The room 's pictures were very educational and quiet interesting. They made me reflect on my previous travels to Egypt. The furniture was made of rattan and was very cozy and had a lot of history. The bathroom was up the stairs and had a sky light which makes it seem like I was at home. The bed was very comfortable. The dinner was good with local fare. The service was good and quick. The buffet breakfast was good and had a large standard hot and cold breakfast buffet. There was great entertainment in the hotel bar and the locals were very friendly and made us feel very comfortable. With the exception of the up and down trek to my room, the hotel was excellent. As the hotel has expanded from 39 rooms to over a hundred, it is somewhat understandable that some rooms are not on the same level. The room also has an iron and iron board, a tub with a shower and very hot water. Try to request a room on the third floor to avoid the stair drama. Dooley's Hotel is a great place to stay when visiting Waterford and a place to meet nice people who are proud of being Irish.

Stayed here with my friends from college on our graduation night a while back. Lovely staff, the food was fast and delicious and the staff were very helpful and ensured we were okay. breakfast was good too even though we were a bit sick. We had a catch up in our room which was okay with neighbours. Car park discount was ok. Nice if it was free though ;)
"Good location. Great Dinner."

Easy to find when entering the city. Right across the street from the Harbor. Walking distance to everything. Our dinner there was awesome! Only complaint was the rooms were showing their age and outdated. However they were in the process of upgrading them while we were there.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Location is great and makes it easy to walk and see the area. Room was a good size and clean. The bathroom seemed to be updated recently. The room had a hairdryer and ironing board. The bar area is very roomy and nice.
"Our mother's 90th birthday party"
08/11/14 Noel A H Cork, Ireland
from the outset on contacting Dooley's we found the staff friendly, courteous and patient. we are six siblings and they had dealings with four of us in organizing this. the room was beautifully done, tables, chairs etc.and we had a room to ourselves (just under sixty of us) at no extra cost and no rush to leave. The food was superb and included a steak option, (everyone of us that I spoke with reported that the steaks were cooked just as requested) and each course had at least four choices. though I'm originally from Waterford I haven't had dealings with Dooley's in the past and I don't know anyone employed there.
