Excellent small hotel in quiet area close enough to town for 70 year olds to walk.Clean, good room size, excellent dining room, although menu would be limited for someone on half board staying a week. No view of ocean might be drawback to some.

The hotel is clean, friendly, and grounds of the hotel are excellent. The view is fantastic. The clients are mostly mature couples from France and Britain with some Germans and Russians. The food in the gourment restaurant is good. The regular hotel restaurant is also fine, but nothing outstanding. The hotel is located close to resort area, and a bit removed from the Funchal historic centre, about 5 euro by taxi or 20 mins walk. Good value for money and it seems one of the best places in town

The hotel was quite ok. For a five star hotel the service in the room was not so good. We had to ask for the minibar, because there was none in our room, no glasses in the bathroom for tooothbrushes. We got the minibar and new glasses, when we claimed at the reception, but this should be automatically. Dirty glasses were not taken away and changed. The spa was very good!! The food was ok, but nothing special, so we decided to go out for dinner after trying the food once in the hotel. The room was very comfortable itself and convieniet with the big store for clothes.

A nice hotel, very good service, excellent personal. Situated away from the cities and perfect if you like to relax. A quiet place, there are only 16 rooms The closiness to the airport does not disturb at all. A very good restaurant. Priceworthy for a five star hotel, although there is just one bar, one restaurant.

As a family we enjoyed a very comfortable and relaxing week at the Calheta Beach Hotel. I would certainly recommend an Ocean view room over a Land/Mountain view room - we changed rooms after 1 night. The staf throughout were very friendly, knowledgable and helpful. The beach itself is man-made, but was more than adequate for our needs. Having said that, […] we spent most of our time by the pool sipping cocktails and enjoying the sun. The hotel food is enjoyable, but there are also a number of restaurants outside the Hotel complex in the surrounding area that are worth a visit - Convento Das Vinhas in particular. Overall, an enjoyable stay and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday. Read more

Hotel was very good and friendly. Unfortunately the booking had not get through and they could not give me a room with ocean view. To compensate they gave me free dinner and drinks. Also unfortunately, internet was not working, it was broken for a week.

Wir haben übers internet gebucht und waren sehr zufrieden mit dem Hotel und dem Service. Auch Pool, Sauna und Restaurant (sowie Bar) sind sehr schön und für den Preis absolut gut. Kleiner Nachteil WiFi (wireless Inernet) ging in unserem Zimmer oft nicht es gibt aber in der Lobby Gratisinternet (allerdings nur 2 PCs).
