Great.

Very nice location right on lake with a huge deck and dock could only see lake from room if you go outside on walkway but it was clean cozy and friendly staff. Also like they have a pool spa and ping pong and pool table.

We rented a one bedroom cabin which was quite small, but comfortable. The queen bed had a memory foam topper which made it comfortable and the sofa bed was better than most. There were adequate linens and towels. The kitchen was stocked with enough dishes and cookware for one meal and had stove, microwave, frig, toaster and coffeemaker. It wasn't fancy […] but it was clean, though the ants did find an opened food package. The heated outdoor pool and spa, a billiards table, an outside ping pong, a basketball hoop, and complimentary DVDs and videoswere a nice plus. It is about 3 blocks from the village area. Read more

Hotel is nice and cozy..I booked a double queen and when I got there they only had a king.. But it had a jacuzzi tub..and rollaway bed.. So I thought cool my daughter will love the jacuzzi tub... Well after about 20 min Our jacuzzi tub leaked and soaked our floor in our room... they had no other rooms and the girl at the front desk was very rude... […] They brought us towels to put on the floor... They did offer us our money back knowing there was no more Ava hotels Ava that weekend and there was a blizzard outside so we couldn't exactly go home.. So we stayed in the soaked floor room. Room was average and so was the service. The price was reasonable, but we wouldn't stay in the same room again.

Great location in Big Bear, close to the lake and lots of restaurants. Rooms are a bit run down, no blow drier and very firm beds. Also very thin walls! T.V. was great as was the fireplace and fridge. Bring your own wood! The price was right.

Love this place, it is cozy and romantic. Be sure to check which rooms you want in advance as there are several cabins as well as two small hotels. It is right on the lake and has a great working heater when it's cold and options for spa and fireplace.

I stayed there n i was very pleased with the service and the room was more than i expected for the price.

This is the 3rd time I have stayed and I have been very happy with the service and the hotel. Its a very nice place. I highly recommend it.

Next to the lake and only minutes to ski stations. Room was clean and there was everything you need : a fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, fireplace... ! The only negative aspect was the lack of breakfast.

Except for the carpeting being a little dirty and stove gas burners being difficult to start, the stay was exceptional.

My son and I stayed here to play in the snow. It was an incredible surprise. It was nothing like I expected of a two and a half star hotel. The cabin was the coziest little place with the fireplace. The lake was right across the street. We were first to be in a cabin by the pool which isn't ideal in the winter. They moved us into our cabin without any […] trouble. I stayed in the accommodations while it was stormy. There was a minor problem with checking-in, but it was an graet overnight stay since the cottage had romantic feel. I recommand it for couples.

For the price this was a good hotel. Only thing I suggest is asking for a upstairs room. You can hear everything that happens above you. That was our only issue. it was better than I expected for the price. I would stay there again

I have to admit that I was a little dubious about the high ratings this hotel received. But for a mid-week cheap quick convenient spot it was indeed perfectly fine. Quiet, clean, a bit dated, friendly. Because of the comments about noise I even brought ear plugs, which were thoroughly unneeded, though perhaps this was a function of it being a Thursday […] night in March with few people around. My family of four stayed here - we loved the pleasant accommodations. Spacious 2 bedroom cabin (# 31) with full kitchen, fireplace, etc. Very cozy. Plenty comfortable for our family of four. I recently stayed in a 2Br Suite with my cousin and was not expecting to have a massive kitchen as we did, fully equipped with refrigerator (super clean) table for 6, we will take full use of this feature next winter, the room condition could use a bit of TLC, one of our sheers weeds torn and the bathroom needed a bit of painting over a previous repair […] they did and the tub should be recaulk. Nothing that can not be repaired easily. The service was expected, we were out all day and we came back to a convenient serviced room, we liked the fact that our attendant did not place the spread back in the bed, is always a hassle to put it out every time. Came on president's day weekend, not only could we hear the neighbor snoring his lungs out, but also upstairs it was obvious that the kids were jumping off the beds, wish we had an upstairs room... Not sure why but there were constantly random black ants, drove home to san diego and found the same ants in my car hitch-hiking... really good location

Everything was almost perfect during our stay! The only issue was we were on a lower level room, we could hear the noise from the upstairs. If you have a chance to choose the room, be sure to have a upper level one!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great lodging for the price and location. Rooms are cozy with a rustic feel. We had a kitchen, fireplace, dvd player and porch with our cabin...all of which we used each night of our stay. Bars, restaurants and other forms of entertainment are within walking distance. beautiful scenery right at the lake, kids loved the free billiard, table tennis and movies - make sure you are not on ground level as the noise from guests on the second floor is very lound and disturbs your sleep

The hotel room was super clean, and a great location, on the water, blocks to the village. The kids loved the Pool table in the main lobby area. The heat was poorly adjustable, and left us cold and shivering at night. The room fireplace was nice but did not offer warmth. The outdoor swimming pool is opened and supposedly heated year round, but the air […] temperature was too cold for us to attempt it. Our room was in a lakefront building with a pier, perfect location. We look forward to returning to this hotel in summer. We have stayed at many Big Bear locations and this was the cleanest yet. The rooms are not fully soundproof and we could at times hear the neighbor’s dog bark, but we still got a good-night’s sleep. We had instant hot water in the shower and good quality toilet paper. Just got back from a quick stay at Big Bear Frontier (just one night) and I really loved the hotel. My girlfriend and I chose one of their rooms with a fireplace in it and the room couldn't have been better! This isn't 5-star luxury, mind you. But the rooms are perfect in their quaint nature (it's all wood trim / wood decorations... really gets you […] in that "cabin" feel). Our room was across a street from the main lobby, but it was right next to the lake and had an unbelievable view! Beds were comfortable for hotel beds and the room was quite clean considering this is a pet friendly hotel. They have VHS tapes that you can take to your room for free. Archaic technology, but I still appreciated being able to get a movie for free! They have a pool & jacuzzi, but we unfortunately didn't get to utilize either since our stay was so short. We were there for the skiing and I have to say the location of this hotel can't be beat. You're no more than 10min away from Snow Summit or Big Bear. And for after hitting the slopes, this is walking distance to many restaurants / bars. My only complaint is that come morning time I could hear my neighbors and the housekeeping staff from outside as if they were RIGHT in our room. I had no clue from the night before as everyone was being quite, but it was a shocker in the morning. No one was even partying - this was just things like people taking a shower in the room next door, or someone shutting their car door / trunk. All of it sounded like we had left our door open! Not a bid deal since we wanted to get up to hit the slopes anyway, but if there was people partying late at night or being loud earlier in the morning (we woke up to noise at 8:30am, so it wasn't obnoxious) I can see how it would be almost unbearable. I did a one night stay here with my lady in a cozy little cabin just to get away and get some fresh air. The cabin we had was perfect for us two. Next to the lake which made it a bit better. I'll be back here again because of its location and quality cabins.

These cottages had everything that you would need for an extended stay vacation. It was the perfect spot to kick back after a day on the slopes. We had a one bedroom cottage. It was spacious, could sleep up to 4. The front desk was extremely helpful and courteous. We were even able to borrow movies from their extensive collection for free.

Went to Big Bear just for one night to go Zip Lining, and booked a room at the Frontier due to location and price. I booked a studio cabin and was pleasantly surprised; although I did not have the chance to take advantage of all the imenities due to my short stay, I will consider returning for a stay with the kids. The facility has everything: a basketball […] court, ping pong, pool table, heated pool and spa, VHS/DVD library, outdoor bbq's aplenty, picnic eating areas, and a nice community area/patio overlooking the lake. It is also walking distance to the"Villiage" with lots of shops and restaurants. For just stumbling upon the Frontier with no previous history of hotels in the area, I feel I lucked out. Read more

Its cute, its close to the village and slopes and cheap! What more can you ask for? Only bad this is the walls are thin and it sounded like elephants walking around above. Next time I'll ask for a 2 floor room.

We wanted to stay in a little 1 bedroom cabin near the lake. The cost was very reasonable. The cabin had a small fridge, stove, and microwave. We could make our own meals if we wanted to. The main living room had a couch with a pull out bed and a dining table with 4 chairs. My wife, children(11 and 6) and I were all able to sit on the couch and watch […] tv late at night. There was also a small patio with a table and 2 chairs. You have to walk through the bedroom to get to the bathroom. The living room, bedroom and bathroom were very clean and had ample supplies(Towels, soap, etc). I would recommend this for a small family of 4. I would not recommend the 1 bedroom cabin for more than 2 adults. There is a heater vent on the wall that blows heat to the bedroom and living room areas. Any and all noise is heard through that vent. We could hear the kids talking on the sofa/sleeper when we went to bed. Surprisingly, the pool was open in early Jan. We saw kids swimming at 10am, the morning we checked out. There was also a pool table and board games for the kids in the main lobby. All in all, it was well worth the money we spent there. I had a great time at this hotel. Everything was good.

Very noisy. You can hear neighbors' conversations, even hear when they use the toilet and when their heater turns on. We had a really bad night.
