"Poor value, disappointing attitude"
As a provider in the hospitality industry it amazes me when staff fails to welcome guests. As we approach our room trash lines the entry way. We enter to find cracked tile, hair on the floor along with dirt. As we journey into the bathroom we find no towels, decaf coffee no regular and no cups. A trip to the lobby reveals other guests have similar issues. […] One guest had tried 2 exchanges with no success. On the second morning our shower produced no hot water. A call to the front desk brought a disgruntled technician who failed to wait as we dressed to answer the door. No hot water heater was in the room so apparently she was going to instruct us as to how to turn the faucet on??? On leaving no mention was given about the establishment's performance and when I asked for the manager's name and email the first employee did not know his name and he had not been available on what would be the busiest weekend all winter in Myrtle Beach (Marathon week). A return to the desk and I received an email address which when I wrote an email bounced back as undeliverable. Obviously they don't want emails direct to management. I strongly recommend people stay away from this establishment. Not only is it unkempt but they don't seem to care about their guests. When I arrived at the hotel the staff was not that friendly. When I got to the room it was not ready but it was given to me and I still can't understand that. Once I got in the room the bathroom was not fully cleaned. There was used soap in the shower and hair all over the floor and sink. I had to call and report it twice before anyone came to check it out and then I was told it was fixed but the water was still too cold to shower in. We arrived not realizing there was a $50.00 pet fee. You must click the fine print at the bottom under the policies and details for it to expand to tell you the fee is $50.00. When we went down to get some, the lady at the desk only gave us one roll. And there were other people at the desk complaining about their rooms. The floors were dirty in the room. The bathroom floor had hair on it from the previous guests, and the toilet appeared to have not been wiped down properly. The shower drain was clogged, and the shower head was at a height fit for a ten year old kid. The entire hotel was run down. I should have taken a clue from the other reviewers. The only plus was that we could bring our pets, but for over $100 (winter rate!) we could have stayed at a newer hotel with a free breakfast buffet and nicer staff. I wouldn't book this hotel again. Our room was in the Ocean Dunes Resort & Villa. The hotel looks like a run down hotel that was renovated as cheaply as possible. The room had spots in the ceiling with mold that had been painted over and the paint had fallen off leaving the exposed mold. "SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY AND GO TO A NICE HOTEL!"
1. Checked into room. It was filthy and it smelled moldy. The mini refrigerator had hair in the on the front- it was just stuck there like someone had glued it to the front. 2.The safe wouldn't open- I was told that it would be the next morning before anyone could open it- it required engineering. 3. There was no toilet paper and no towels in the room […] upon arrival. 4. The toilet in the bathroom kept running- it wouldn't flush! Went to the desk and requested to be moved to another room. The attendant moved us to another room- it was better but it still smelled and I had to clean the tub before we could use it. I mentioned to her that we didn't have toilet paper. She said the shipment didn't come in and the entire resort was out. I asked her when it was coming in- she said they didn't know. I was NOT going to buy my own toilet paper. I had to ask for a box of tissue- I am not sure what they expected us to use- maybe towels and washcloths? The manager should have been proactive and made a trip to Costco to buy toilet paper until the shipment arrived- UNACCEPTABLE. At this point, we were exhausted- I couldn't get a refund and all we could do was make the most of it. "At least we could bring our dog"
We decided on this hotel as we were mainly interested in bringing our 95 lb. golden. Our options to do that were limited otherwise and we were really hoping for some "resort" type of amenities. When we arrived it was nice to be greeted with a smile and be given a bag of treats for our "little" guy. While the entire place seems rather dated, the lobby […] was pleasant enough, the elevator worked and when getting into the hotel room we couldn't help but notice the need for cleaning - not whatever quick wiping too many hotels/resorts want to call cleaning. We attributed the musty smell to it being on the water - we got an oceanfront room. We did appreciate and use the free round of golf they offer with your stay and should have expected it to be a 30 minute drive to get to it. We wanted to enjoy the hot tub, pool, and sauna but the mold and other water stains in the grout of the hot tub and lining of the pool made us think twice about using it - not to mention that the indoor area that's open until 11PM that we used didn't have working jets in the hot tub, which we feel is just as well since we can only imagine what would have come out of them! Also, the sauna was closed/out of order until our last night. The staff was very friendly and we appreciated them and again, they allowed us to bring our large pet. "Not our choice and never again"
We only stayed here because Expedia goofed our original reservation at a better hotel. The staff person was nice. Our ocean view was a room right above the HVAC unit so we couldn't hear waves. There were spots all over the chairs, so we couldn't sit in them. There was a cigarette hole and stains on our mattress cover and a large stain on the mattress. […] There was hair everywhere, a small tree branch/stick behind the nightstand, the shampoo bottles were already open and used, no washcloths, and the room was pretty dated. It was after 2am when we arrived, so we got our rest and checked out. They had a breakfast buffet but considering the shortcuts they take with cleaning, we passed. "Rude not willing to help"
This was one of the worst stays ever in a hotel. I've stayed in what I call a roach motel better than this. Checked in got to room went to brush my teeth and the sink backs up with black crud and hair all in it. Bathroom floor full of hair also. Our room was in the 7400's, so we went to the 7th floor. The woman at the desk only told my husband that it was this building. After walking around looking stupid with our suitcases, I finally figured out by going floor to floor that we were on the 4th floor. As she was folding up a little lunch box-type cooler she asked me questions about my stay. She told me about a 2 hour presentation the next morning that would get me something (I don't know what because I cut her off). I told her we can't as we have little time AND we had our dog with us. She asked why don't we leave him in our room. And I answered because the ruled clearly state no leaving animals unattended at any time. She said people do it all the time. I told her that we don't. I changed the subject and asked if she knew of any Mexican Restaurants and she said no, then asked the young girl at the other desk who said no too. No effore to look one up or anything.
