The hotel is a really beautiful hotel. They were able to check us in early but they claimed they were giving us an upgrade and they put us in a handicap room which does not have the nice bathroom. Not much of an upgrade. There doesn't seem to be anyplace to park your own car and valet parking is expensive. If you're a lady, you will love the whirlpool and steam room in the ladies locker room, very nice. Only downfall, don't eat here if you can help it! If you want food, go back out across the bridge and find a restaurant! Prices were way to high!! We sat in the lounge, drinks were basically over priced, we ordered some fancy chicken wings that were double what you'd pay normally, the menus are very limited without many choices unless you eat sushi, sashimi, etc. They will give you mixed nuts on your table if you get something. The jazz was nice, if you go on the weekend, but the lounge gets crowded and there's not enough seating. Our room had an honor bar but make sure that you check it for whats in it and match it against the list; we were missing several things, but I was able to let the front desk know so they didn't charge us for it. There is a CVS right next door that was opening a few days after our visit, get your snacks there. Breakfast was ok but very expensive, plus they charge a delivery fee and extra service charge. So, beautiful hotel, sleep here, but if you want to save some money, go out for all your eating and activities.

To the point... I liked the hotel and it was quite comfortable. But, NO SODA MACHINE!!! Really? So, I have to go to the bar or get a soda from the room bar? $4.00 for a tiny die soda!!! A little inconvenient. Other than that, it was just fine.

I would definitely recommend the Mandarin Oriental. However I would caution future visitors to understand that the prices for food and drinks are quite high. On average for $12 for a glass of wine or beer. We went off property for dinner and drinks, and the good thing is that the proximity of the hotel is just a short cab ride to more affordable establishments. In fact a short walk over the bridge and you are an amazing outdoor fish market that will cook fresh seafood to order. Dawn

This hotel is pricey but the quality matches the price well. Service was excellent - the safe in our room didn't work, but when we called they had someone in to fix it within 5 minutes. The spa is great - also expensive but the facilities and service were appropriately excellent. There's a Starbucks across the street and a sandwich shop next door, but not much else in the same block. However, the National Mall is only two blocks away.

Very nice hotel. Great location to the national mall (walking distance). Bathroom was beautiful. We were expecting a little more out of the room itself for the price and the reputation of the hotel. It seemed a little dated and in need of a renovation, but it was clean and comfortable. The hotel itself is beautiful. I recommend a water-view room. It's pretty amazing especially if you have a view of the Jefferson Memorial. They have live jazz on fri and sat nights which is a treat.

Room service and restaurant prices were too pricey for the quality of food. I ate in the Asian Fusion restaurant and the food was good but not outstanding enough for me to eat there again if I have a choice. Comfortable and well furbished room with easy wireless connection. The bed was comfortable and the mini bar was adequate. The room cost was high but apparently all hotels in this area are expensive. Hotel staff were warm, friendly and efficient.

I thought the room service menu was better than what was offered in the restaurant (I am not a sushi fan) but the food was not exactly as described in the menu. Two nights in a row I received the same dessert because they were named and described differently. I did love that every member of the staff I saw more than once called me by name. Great service.
