We had a really good experience while staying at Lion Square Lodge. You can't find a better location for ski in ski out option. The stuff of the hotel is simply amazing. If you are looking for a pets free hotel it is not a good option, because units owners are allowed to bring their pets, the guests are not. We usually stay in the Village so we were a little apprehensive about staying in Lionshead. The residence was under construction and the pool was closed, hence the discounted rate, but the accomodations were very nice with a nice view and we were allowed to use a neighboring pool. The desk staff were great, very friendly. The condo was very nice, very […] clean and well appointed, however, it was dark, not alot of light. Lionshead was fun, we were very surprised and pleased. Plenty of visitors, but the real fun was had with the locals in their pubs and dining establishments. Pros: The hotel's location is perfect. The staff is friendly. Everything was clean. Cons: The rooms are outdated, turns out the room that I was put in was actually a privately owned condo. My view was of the parking lot and I could hear people talking outside my window till late at night. They couldn't move me to another room.

Lion Square Lodge is very close to Vail Village. We parked our car and left it for our entire stay. Ski amenities are very close, literally a few steps out the front door. The hotel was in a great location, the staff very accomodating and really nice breakfasts. At the end of the day, you are greeeted with hot chocolate, coffee and cookies - perfect for the end of the day. The hot tubs and pool were terrific too - relaxing after a great day of skiing.

I was here during a conference in the off season so the restaurant/bar was not open so that was a bummer. The location was great and I was able to walk everywhere. It would be a great place during the ski season as it is right at the bottom of the gondola. The room, bedding, bath, and decor are good but dated. It could go with an upgrade. The room I had had a nice balcony and the views on the other side towards the river and the ski hill must be great. My room looked over the parking lot. No room service was also not good. Spent a couple of days in Vail for a conference. LSL is right in the middle of everything, but still feels secluded. Room was comfortable, pool area is on the sunny side, and the staff was laid back and professional. Can't speak for high season, but the location alone can make up for any other issues you might be worried about.

Our room was newly updated, on the ground floor with a walkout patio to sit and listen to the beautiful Gore river flowing by. It was comfortable and well appointed. We could walk to everything. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

Loved staying here! The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Location was good. Loved the view of the mountain. It was great to be able to walk to most of Vail via the pedestrian/bike trail. Rooms were clean and housekeeping did a great job. Would Definately go back.

We had a room on the ground level with a door to the outside with table and chairs right beside the door on a nice grassy lawn area. We were feet away from the path and pool and close to the river just beyond the path. We could here the river gurgling at night. The desk personnel were friendly and the concierge helpful. The Lion square lodge is reasonably priced and a short walk to Vail village and other attractions in the Vail area. The rooms are nice and staff friendly. Oh, and the parking is free with room rental. Overall, a great experience.

Apparently some of the lodge has been renovated but our unit was circa 1983, right down to the teal tile and dog wallpaper. It was 89 degrees while we were there and with no a/c and no ceiling fans it was miserable inside... With so many nice options in the area WHY stay here?

My wife, children, and I LOVED this hotel...the service, location, and room could not have been better. My only complaint is that the tile floor and carpeting in our room were very slippery...everybody i the entire family almost fell several times.

Lion Square Lodge is located in LionsHead - the west side of Vail - right behind the gondola adjascent to a bunch of super restauraunts, coffee shop, bike rentals, and shops. The location couldn't be better. Vail is not a place where you drive around but everything is accessable by walking or by free bus.

It's a short walk to Vail or the shuttle is right around the corner. Wonderful room. We spent a week at the Lion Square Lodge, and it was wonderful. When we booked the room, we didn't realize that the lodge is right next to the river. What a great surprise! All we had to do was walk out of the lodge to get to the walking path and the river. There were two hot tubs and an outdoor pool. At night we could swim or sit in the hot tub under […] the stars and look at the river and mountains. The lodge is near the center of Lionhead Village which was great. Haven't been to Vail in about 6 yrs and it certainly has under gone a makeover. Vail Village has always had a quaint Swiss atmosphere, however Lionshead Village steals the show. Our condo was beautiful! Although we were not on the river-side, we had a great mountain view. Plenty of room, a HUGE master bedroom with a King bed and two sleeper couches in the den. The front desk personnel was very responsive when we requested an extra fan. They even brought it out to us. We would stay here on every trip back to Vail!
